A woman dropped a book from her hands and it crashed onto the ground. She wore a soft pink nightgown, she had the same skin and hair as Juniper. Her hair was up in a bun and her soft green eyes shimmered with fear.
"So sorry to barge in, but are you Junipers' mother?" I looked up at her as my grip on Juniper tightened.
"Y-yes I am, I'm Katherine." The woman responded.
"Well Katherine, it's your lucky day. I'm Peck, daughter of Hades and we need your help. Juniper is injured and I think you can help, please." I looked at her with pleading eyes.
Katherine hurried over to her daughter. Juniper was starting to go pale as her breath came in hoarse gasps of pain. I slipped off the sweater Juniper had on, revealing her camp shirt.
Juan was sitting on the ground away from everyone.
"Ronan!" Katherine called.
"Yes, dear?" A man walked from the hallway.
He was wearing a black pyjama shirt and leggings. He had a dark, scruffy beard, short dark hair, tanned skin and soft blue eyes.
"Get the medkit from the bathroom." Katherine's voice shook.
He ran off back down the hall and returned a few moments later with a medkit. His blue eyes shimmered with worry, but I could see the anger in his eyes.
"Thanks." August took it from him and started rummaging through it. He took out a roll of bandages and several other things.
"Juniper's going to be alright, Peck." August put his hand on my shoulder. "You should go check on Juan."
"Just do what you can to help her." I stepped back and walked over to Juan.
Juan looked up at me, his hazel eyes lit up with fear.
"Do you want me to explain everything?" I asked sitting next to him.
He gave me a small nod, so, as any normal Demigod would've done, I explained, everything.
It took Juan a few moments before he muttered a curse in Spanish.
"So, all we need to do is get you back to camp and you'll hopefully get claimed soon." I patted his head.
"G-got it." Juan took a breath.
I looked over at August as he walked out of Juniper's old room. I got to my feet and went over to him.
"How is she?" I asked.
"She'll survive but she needs rest." August's eyes were full of tiredness.
"You should get some sleep, we don't know when more monsters will attack."
"Yeah, I'll go sleep on the couch. Maybe you can try to reassure Mrs. Harrelson?" August walked off and laid on the couch before I answered.
I took a breath and walked into Junipers room. The walls were a mustard yellow as well as the closet doors. Juniper lay on her bed, a black and yellow blanket over her. The ground, dresser, side table and chair were all oak wood.
Her mother, Katherine and step-father, Ronan stood near Junipers' bed talking in hushed voices.
I cleared my throat and they looked over. Katherine turned and walked over while Ronan narrowed his eyes at me.
"You must be very good friends with Juniper," Katherine said.
I hesitated for a moment and a shiver ran down my spine. "Y-yeah, great friends," I said quietly.
Ronan's eyes widened for a moment then he controlled his reaction.
"Your satyr friend said she'd survive, do you think she will?" Katherine asked.
"Yes, of course, she will, I'd know if she wouldn't, I would feel it." I walked past her to Juniper.
I brushed the few locks of hair from her face as I sat down on the wooden chair. My eyes teared up as I looked down at Juniper.
"Katherine, perhaps you should go make some hot chocolate for everyone?" Ronan said to his wife.
"Of course." Katherine nodded and walked out of the room closing the door.
"How long?" Ronan asked.
"What are you talking about?" I blinked the tears out of my eyes.
"How long have you been dating Juniper?" Ronan narrowed his eyes.
"A few weeks, what do you care?" I looked up at him.
"Because she's my daughter and her moth-"
"You're not her dad and an even worse step-dad." I stood up and glared at him.
"How dare you insult me!" Ronan snarled.
"Whatcha gonna do? Beat me up?"
Ronan stormed out of the room as I sat down and took Juniper's hand in mine. I held onto it for a few minutes till I felt Junipers grip tighten. I looked up as her eyes fluttered open.
"Hey." I smiled softly.
"Hey, dead girl," Juniper responded with a weak voice.
"How you feelin' Sunshine?" I asked.
"Sunshine, huh?"
"You ok with me calling you that?"
"Of course and I'm feeling better than earlier."
"We're at your parent's house, by the way. I wanted to make sure you knew when you woke up."
"That's why I recognized this place so much because I'm..." Juniper trailed off.
"Because you're here? In your old home?" I guessed.
"Yeah."
"Don't worry, Mr. Harrelson is a jerk but he won't do anything."
"You sure about that?"
"Yes, of course, Sunshine."
"Thank's Peck."
"Get some more rest you-"
"No, I've rested enough already." Juniper sat up.
"B-but August said you need more rest!"
"I'm the child of Apollo, I decide when I need more rest."
"Juniper what if you-"
I shut my mouth when the door opened, Katherine walked in holding two cups of hot chocolate. I looked over my shoulder narrowing my eyes slightly.
"Oh, you're awake Juniper." Her mother placed the cups on her side table.
Juniper didn't respond.
"Thank you, Mrs. Harrelson, truly, but we should be getting back to camp."
"Will she be treated there?" Katherine asked.
"Of course she will be, but I need you to take care of the others till I get back. Can you do that?"
"Where are you going?" Juniper spoke up.
"To get my uncle, don't worry about me, Sunshine."
I heard Juniper's mother gasp slightly. I smiled softly and kissed Juniper's forehead then stood up.
"Stay safe," Juniper said quietly.
"I will." I looked over my shoulder as I walked out.
"You're a couple?" I heard her mother ask.
Juniper just chuckled and responded calmly, "Peck and I are a couple and we're happy together."
"As long as you're happy, I'm happy, sweetie." Her mother said.
I walked over to August and bonked his head. August yelped and woke up from his short nap.
"What the heck Peck!" He exclaimed rubbing his head.
"Wake up, we're going to see Uncle Aaron." I smiled.
