Monster Teachers... Great Zeus!

By the time e reached the school, it was 9:30 pm. The school was holding a special event for the students and since it was a Friday the students got to stay late.

"You'll stop by your uncles' place or Junipers parents' place when you're done. My house is too far, got it?" My mom pulled us both close and hugged us.

"We got it, mum." I looked up at her.

"And Juniper, you keep Peck safe, please." My mom let us go.

"I got it, Miss Glen," Juniper said.

"Thank you and stay safe you two." My mom hopped back into the car.

Juniper sighed and I looked at her. She was now wearing a thin green sweater over her camp shirt that I'd let her borrow.

"We'll have to go to my place, it's only a block or so from here." Juniper sighed.

"Let us worry about that later." I kissed her cheek and pulled her to the entrance of the school.

I saw my friend August waiting outside of the doors. He was wearing a green shirt with leaves and flowers decorated on it. He wore grey sweatpants, red sneakers and the red hat he'd worn the first day of school two months ago. He was eating a nutrition bar, rapper and all, it was a satyr thing they did when they're nervous.

"Hey, August!" I called to him.

He looked up and saw us. He tossed his bar into the garbage and ran over. "Peck, Juniper what are you two doing here?" He asked pulling us into a hug.

"We're here because you need help, man." I patted him on the back.

"Right, I've been waiting for days. What took Chiron so long?" August asked letting us go.

"We don't know, also you missed a lot." My voice quieted when I looked over his shoulder.

A man in a green plaid shirt and fancy grey jeans stood outside. In light of the school, he had short grey hair, light peach skin and unnatural bright blue eyes.

"Mr. Jefferson, what are you doing out here?" The man walked over.

"Sorry, sir, just my friends were arriving late so I was waiting for them out here. We'll head inside." August looked up at the teacher.

"Can I have your names?" The way the man said it made it feel like we had to say our names.

"Peck, Peck Glen I had to leave school for a while. You should know my teacher Mr. Hopper?" I looked up at him.

"I'm a substitute for Mr. Hopper, he... wasn't feeling good." The man blinked at me then looked at Juniper. "Name?"

"Juniper Harrelson, I'm a new student. I started late because my parents and I were in Hawaii." Juniper said.

"Well, off you go then, get inside." The man walked back to the doors.

"Why in the Hades does this guy give off bad vibes?" Juniper asked in a quiet voice.

"Because he's the monster, Professor Snide," August replied quietly.

"Well, this is going to end terribly," I grumbled.

Professor Snide opened the doors and the three of us walked in, he shut the doors and walked down the hall of classrooms.

"There's someone I want you two to meet, he's an awesome kid." August gave us a look.

"Lead the way," I said and August led us to the gymnasium.

August pushed open the doors and loud music blasted while students laughed, danced, talked, etcetera. Some kids sat out and talked to each other at the edge of the gym. Most students wore dresses and fancy outfits while some wore sweaters and jeans. There were tables of snacks and drinks all lined against the wall closest to us.

"Gods, this is amazing," I said.

"Can you two get close to the kid?" August pointed to a boy in a dark purple hoodie, tan pants. He had dark, curly brown hair that reached to his neck, he had almost tanned skin and hazel eyes. The boy was talking to a few students, he said something and the other kid laugh.

"What's his name?" I asked.

"Juan Hermandez." August walked off into the crowd.

"How are we supposed to do that?" Juniper asked.

"We could dance till he's alone," I suggested.

"Do you know how to dance?" Juniper raised a brow.

"Of course not, that's what makes it fun." I smiled.

"Alright, just follow my lead." Juniper took my hand and we made it to where some students were dancing. A slow song started playing over the speakers.

Juniper put her hand on my hip and held onto my other hand.

"Juniper what do I do?" I asked.

Juniper smiled softly and moved my free hand to her back. "Just follow my lead."

Juniper moved her feet in a certain pattern, I followed where she put her feet.

"You're a natural." Juniper smiled keeping an eye on Juan.

"Is he alone?" I asked.

"Yeah but Professor Snide is heading over to him, we should move, we'll hopefully make it to Juan before him."

"Let's go." I spun around and quickly walked over to Juan. Unfortunately Professor Snide reached him first.

"Ah, Mr. Hermandez, I need to ask you about some of your assignments." Professor Snide rested his hand on his back and pushed him towards a door that led to a dark hallway.

I cursed in greek and picked up the pace, Juniper following closely behind. August looked over at them and rushed over.

"How'd Pro-"

"Shut up and help us get that kid!" I snapped at August and slammed open the doors.

The only light was from the doors that shut from behind us.

"Juan!" Juniper called out.

A muffled whimper came from the end of the hall.

"Let him go Snide!" I pressed the button on my bracelet and it transformed into a sword.

"I don't think I will." The mans' voice was replaced with a snake-like hiss.

"He's only a child, do you really want to kill a child?" I took a few steps towards the voice.

"He's only a child? He's a child of a god, an enemy, someone who could kill monsters just like you." They hissed.

"If you let him go, we won't have to kill you and make you return to Tartarus." I could hear the gasps from Juan.

"Maybe you haven't noticed but I'm much stronger than some tiny Demigod with no weapon!" The voice was only a few feet in front of me.

I stayed silent, not daring to make a sound.

"Sneaking up on me won't do you good! I'd smell you before you got close enough!" Snide snarled.

The door to the gym suddenly swung open as a boy crashed into it. Light from the gym filled the hallway and I saw the monster in front of me.

Snide had scales all over his body just like the monster that was at camp, he had beady snake eyes that widened when he saw me. I swung my blade at him cutting off the scaly arm that covered Juans' mouth.

Snide cried out and clutched his arm.

"Sorry Snide, I gave you a chance." I held my sword at his throat.

Snide's face twisted into a snarl he lashed out with his arm before crumpling into dust.

"No!" Juniper jumped at me taking the blow. We both fell to the ground and my iPod started playing a song.

You Are My Sunshine by Jasmine Thompson, I recognized the song. Junipers' arm was covered in blood.

"Oh, gods," I whispered holding her close.

Juniper grunted with pain and Juan cursed in Spanish.

"What was that thing? What's a Demigod? And who are you?" Juan asked.

"We're Demigods, children of the Greek gods, August is a satyr." I looked up at him for a moment. "Stay with me Juniper." I brushed the hair from her face.

"Can you carry her? I'd bet more monsters are coming, and we have to get her to your uncle or her parents." August crouched next to me and fed Juniper a piece of ambrosia.

"I can shadow-travel us," I suggested. "Hey! Kid, get over here!" I snapped at Juan.

Juan came over and crouched beside me before we shadow-travelled I grabbed my iPod and stopped playing music.

"We're going to Junipers house, not my uncles." I focused on Juniper and we ended up in a living room.
