Orionis Sword

"Two bowls of Bibimbap." Berin, tapping his finger lightly on the wooden counter.

The girl nodded and gave two steaming hot bowls of mixed rice with meat and vegetables. He then hand two silvers and brought it towards a table at the corner.

"Woaah! I'll get the drinks!" before Berin could argue, Luna already ran towards the counter before returning back to their table with a big glass of rum and a glass of orange juice.

"So Uncle, aren't you gonna tell me more why you-know-what is banned?" and started to gobble down the bowl of rice without removing her hood.

"It's banned for a reason, so keep your voice low. You see Luna, there were a lot of magic users called Maegis a long long time ago. Be it Meumins, Merfonians, Aaquians, Lhazures, and our race, which is Haerems. I was recently born at that time so I didn't really understood what happened but the thing is, the recent Kings at that era and the people were afraid of them for the power they hold. According to what our Elders taught us, the brother of the Meumin King had an affair with the Merfon King's wife."

Well, I think I can pretty much tell where the story will be going.

"Radien, the name of the brother of the Meumin King, seeked aid to his King brother and the King of Aaquians to help him get the woman he dearly loves. But Radien was rejected by the two... they wouldn't want to start a war with the already power struggle with the other kingdoms. So Lerina, the beloved sister of the Aaqui King and Radien's childhood friend, helped him. Because the Meumin race aren't on friendly terms with the Lhazure race, noone supported them and so they lack in power. But suddenly, the word spread that the two of them built an alliance with the Maegis and helped them get Queen Wynonna, wife of the King of Merfon."

"Wait... what's in it for the Maegis? I'm sure they wouldn't wage a war just for an ex-prince who loved a married woman and not get anything in return? And tell me I'm definitely wrong that I'm thinking they'll put all the blame to the Maegis?"

"Unfortunately, you're right. After Radien and Lerina were slain in battle, they put all the blame to the Maegis. Both Kings of the Meumin and Aaqui races then claimed and announced that the Maegis brainwashed both royalties and manipulated all the schemes, from Radien falling in love with the Merfon Queen to executing a war, just to get the crown and the kingdom but then failed to do so after the two were killed. So that's why the three kingdoms of Meumin, Aaqui, and Merfon started the Maegi Purge to sweep and cleanse their continent of magic and corruption."

"What?! And everybody believed that? It was clear that the Maegis were used as scapegoat to not wage war with each other!" Luna exclaimed in a hushed whisper.

"You can't blame the people for believing it, Luna. After all, some Maegis took advantage of their power and were swallowed by their own greed."

"But! There are good Maegis too! Not everyone's like that! We should've helped them hide and escape or form an alliance with them to take the reign completely. By then, both won't be in hiding anymore and could serve the kingdom taken as a safe haven."

Berin squints his eyes and stayed silent for a moment. "You may have a point but Luna, how can we even bother with the others when we, ourselves, are also in dire? Our numbers can't even reach a thousand in how many centuries have come to pass as we are constantly being hunted by them, so how can we even put up a fight against three kingdoms at the very least, let alone 'take over their reign completely'? Not to mention the other factors that greatly influence the outcome of this war."

"But what about the other kingdom? What was it again? L-Lhapure kingdom? What's their position in this?"

"It's Lhazure. And they didn't meddle with it. More like they didn't care. Their kingdom was treated as the strongest out of the four because of how they hold an otherworldly power. That's why the other three didn't make any move to anger the Lhazures and didn't bother them about this at all."

"So they stayed neutral or out of this. Then I guess our destination is the Kingdom of Lhazure?"

"You're quick witted for a child who's been born recently."

Luna folded her arms and scoff. "Hmph! Of course! I am Luna, the greatest Haerem ever!" and waved her hand twice in the air before drinking the glass with her pinky on point.

"Haha! Yes, yes. I guess I praised you too much... I better not overdo it from now on." and also drank his rum.

"Hmph! By the way, how old are you, Uncle?"

"I think I'm over a thousand or two? I don't really count, age is meaningless to us anyway. We could have a lifespan of over a millenia, except if you get killed of course. After all, we're not immortals."

"Really?! You're face doesn't scream a thousand at all."

'A thousand? Millenia? That's basically saying we're semi-immortals and shvt. Oh wait... so if the purge happened when he was born, it must've been ten centuries ago when it happened.'

"You flatter me. Leaving that aside, you're taking all of these in easier than I thought. I hope you also grasped the point that you'd better be careful from now on and not attract others with your magic."

"Of course, Uncle." they continued eating after that.

To conclude their talk, there are five races namely: Haerem which are the Joker, Meumin, Merfon, Aaqui, and Lhazure. And Maegis are mixed within these races, randomly born with innate powers of magic.

'I assume Lhazure is the Kingdom of Diamonds? Uncle described their power as 'otherworldly', so it must be the power of stars and cosmos. I guess they haven't grasp the knowledge about the universe yet.'

For the other characters of the game and to what are their corresponding races in this world, she planned to figure it next time to not raise too much suspicions. She's an other worlder in the first place and is still an amateur in everything about this world so taking it step-by-step is the appropriate course of action. Although she do have the game's shop and settings with an appraisal and ready-bought potions.

Just as when they were about to leave, five groups of uniformed men blocked their way.

'Be ready.' Berin spoke through their mind link.

"Lower your hoods by the order of the great General Mandin."

Just as the leading knight was about to grab my hood, Uncle Berin suddenly held my hand and summon a bluish-white sword which exploded right after it came contact with his hand.

'Weapon Appraisal'

An arrow which carried a small teal screen then popped up beside the sword.

[Orionis Sword.

Named after the star, Zeta Orionis Aa, a type O star. The blade of the sword is extremely hot and very luminous that also exudes a large ultraviolet range, making the sword looked bluish-white.

If the sword, specifically its blade, runs out of hydrogen used to burn, the sword will grow in size and the once bluish-white color would turn red and cause an explosion a quarter of a continent.
