NADINE'S ROOM

Shortly thereafter, a black Maybach stopped right in front of an enormous house complex.

Velina opened the car's window and the guards immediately bowed respectfully to her, opened the gate, and ushered them in.

Velina smiled at Daniel and thanked him before she opened the car door to enter the house. At first, she wanted to send Daniel out, but the man refused.

She immediately entered the house after she waved her hand at Daniel.

From inside the car with the window open, Daniel looked at Velina who was walking into the house. Actually, in his heart, he felt a bit disappointed that the girl did not offer him to stop by even though it was just for a cup of tea.

Exhaled deeply, he then closed the window of his car and immediately left the Marcello family's yard.

From inside the house, Velina saw Daniel's car from behind, which slowly disappeared into the darkness of the night.

She smiled. Then, she immediately went to her room on the 2nd floor.

"Good evening, miss! Do you want to have dinner?" Richard Tan, the Marcello family butler, greeted her.

Velina shook her head. "No thanks. I ate just before I came back here" she smiled and immediately climbed the stairs.

It seemed no one else was home at that time as it was quiet.

The house was large and was inhabited by many people, including their families and workers. However, for some reason, the night was very quiet even though there were many people at home.

When Velina was about to enter her room when her heart suddenly tickled to see her little sister. Maybe, she was in his room.

Her younger sister was an introvert type and she preferred to be alone so that sometimes it was difficult for people around her to identify her existence that she was there or no.

Velina knocked on her bedroom door once. No one answered. Twice. Nobody answered either. Slowly, she tried to open the door of her room. She then was a little surprised when she found out that the door was unlocked.

"Is she taking a shower?" She thought to herself.

She decided to try to enter Nadine's room and approach the bathroom door. However, it seems there were not any signs of any living things inside.

'Hmmm' Velina frowned.

It was over nine in the evening now.

She looked around her.

Finally, she realized something, this was the first time she had entered Nadine's room. Previously, she had never entered Nadine's room at all like this. At best, she used to only peeped in from the outside of the door to find her younger sister.

Velina sat on Nadine's bed relaxedly.

The mattress felt very soft.

Her sister's room looked simple. There were not as many decorations as any rooms of the girls in her age.

On the walls lined several bookshelves whose contents bore Velina : books on accounting, economics, and bankings.

Her gaze then turned to look at a magazine.

It was a Forbes magazine.

On the cover, there was a photo of a young woman who looked energetic and full of confidence. That was the photo of Nadine Marcello.

Her little sister.

Earlier this year, she had just been named as one of the top five influential young women in the economy of the country of Vanesia.

Velina immediately picked up the magazine and flipped the page after page, looking for articles about her sister. She read the article about Nadine with a smile on her face.

She was super proud of her younger sister, who, although today she was only 20 years old, she had been able to prove herself to her family and also helped to raise her family name, who had always been known for being such a genius.

After she met Afriza, Velina decided to open up more to her only sister.

All this time, Velina had been deep in thought, that she never tried to feel what did it like being in her sister's shoes.

What she did know was that her younger sister, who had a weak body since she was a little girl, lived comfortably in a luxurious house, went to school, and could play with her friends as much as she liked, experienced school life.

Meanwhile, she had to go through hard training, one after another, which made her sick at first.

Although, in the end, Velina decided to experience school life like ordinary people when she stepped into college. Meanwhile, Marino first decided to go to school when he entered senior high school.

Felt bored, Velina stood up, looked back at Nadine's cupboard that contained family photos when she was a child. In the photo, there were six people: his grandfather, Nico Marcello, his father, Franco Marcello, his uncle, Giulio Marcello who at this moment lived in Hong Kong, Marino, Nadine, and herself.

It seemed that was the last family photo they had together. After that, they were busy with their own life.

Velina sighed. It was really hard to live in a family with a myriad of responsibilities.

Besides that, there was also a photo of Nadine's graduation day from the university. The girl was smiling in the photo, but somehow Velina could feel that the smile was just a mask to hide her true feelings.

Indeed, she did not know her own younger sister at all.

Then, Velina's gaze turned to Nadine's desk. The girl was so neat, unlike herself who was a little messy.

She then walked over to Nadine's desk. Her gaze focused on a book that was on the table.

At first, Velina did not intend to see the contents of the book, however, the book was indeed open. It seemed that Nadine forgot to keep it safe after she wrote on it last night.

Or, she knew that no one would dare to enter her room without her permission.

Maybe also, she did not really need to keep it somewhere because she knew that none of her family members were willing to enter her room.

The book on the table was Nadine's diary.
