I shut the door behind me and slumped against a wall. I stood still for a moment and took a deep breath.
"How the hell am I supposed to get to the second floor? I've never been up there before so I don't know what to expect." I said, letting out a sigh.
I lowered myself and sat on the ground. I began thinking of what I should do next. 'Is that girl even worth it?' I thought. As I continued to think to myself I saw someone stand in front of me. I looked up and saw a girl staring down at me.
"I couldn't help but overhear you talking about the second floor. If you want I can take you there." The girl said, offering her hand to me.
I looked at her for a moment before taking her hand. She helped me to her feet and examined me. She gave me a confused look and handed me a weapon.
"You don't even have a weapon on you, and yet you want to go to the second floor. That dagger I handed you was forged on the second floor. Way better than any weapon forged here." The girl laughed.
"I appreciate this but I don't need it. I have what's called a Genmochi at home. It's the only weapon I need." I said, handing the girl her dagger back.
The girl began to smirk which then was replaced with laughter. I stood there while she laughed and rolled my eyes. I let out a sigh and began to tap my foot.
"I'm sorry but did you actually think I'd believe such a stupid lie like that? Only a chosen few can use those weapons. Even though there are a lot of Genmochi only ten percent of them are actually being used. Just how clueless are you?" The girl laughed.
I let out a sigh and turned away from the girl. I began to walk away but the girl grabbed my arm. She wiped a tear from her eye and straightened herself up.
"How rude of me, I haven't even introduced myself. I'm Serene. The face you're giving me isn't one of a liar. Show me the Genmochi you supposedly have." Serene said.
"Fine, but be quiet. I don't know if my friends are still asleep or not. From previous experiences, I'd rather not wake them up." I said.
Serene gave me a curious look before giving me a big grin. I began walking towards my house with Serene right next to me. The village was nice and peaceful today.
When I arrived at my house I saw Bubbles and Fang talking to each other. They both seemed to notice me and waved me over. Serene tugged on my cloak and pointed at Bubbles.
"Is that fish talking with a dog? How is that even possible? Is your entire household full of people like that?" Serene asked.
"Wait, is it not normal for a fish to talk? I know that Fang is part of a rare clan of dogs that can actually talk but I don't know much about Bubbles. Never really questioned it until you brought it up."
