Power Boost

"You guys better not be tired already. We haven't even been fighting that long." Kerrin said.

I jumped to my feet and helped Alice get up. I readied Genki for Kerrin's next attack while Alice readied one of her spells. A sudden burst of energy flowed through me catching me off guard.

"There you go, John. I boosted up your power so you should be close to matching Kerrin's speed. You'll only have five minutes though and I can't cast any other spells until it's over." Alice said.

I turned my head towards her and nodded. I made a dash over to where Kerrin was and got there way faster than I expected. I overshot him and almost fell to the ground. I turned around so I could face Kerrin and he seemed as surprised as I was.

We both readied our weapons and ran at each other. He swung his blade at me which I blocked using my Genki. I fused Magic Slash with Genki and attacked Kerrin. Kerrin managed to block my attack but lost his balance allowing an opening. I fired a small beam at Kerrin which he sliced with ease. Suddenly his Genmochi turned into two swords.

"I can wish for whatever weapon I want using this Genmochi. Quite handy isn't it?" Kerrin said, swinging both blades at me.

I managed to block his attack but he didn't give up. He continued to attack me with a flurry of slashes. With one powerful slash he knocked me off balance and made me fall over. As he plunged his sword down in an attempt to stab me I used Genki to push me out of the way.

I didn't have enough time to decided how much power I wanted in my beam and as a result I went crashing into the wall and dropping Genki. I let out a small groan of pain as I laid on the ground. The energy I felt before was now gone.

"I think it's healing time..." I grumbled, pulling out a small herb from my bag and eating it.

Though it didn't completely heal me, I did feel much better. I picked myself up and brushed off some dust that got on me. I rolled my head around and swung my arms. I picked up Genki and began walked towards Kerrin.

"Did you just eat a herb? Aren't those like really gross?" Kerrin asked.

"They are, but after only being able to eat them for so long you get used to the taste." I answered, running towards Kerrin.

I used Genki to boost myself towards him. I used my momentum to knee Kerrin in the stomach. Alice soon followed it up with a barrage of ice shards. Right when they were about to hit Kerrin, Ren showed up out of nowhere and blocked all of the attacks before vanishing.

"The hell was that?" I asked Alice.

She shrugged and looked back at Kerrin. He spat out some blood and wiped his mouth. Despite the attack I just landed on him he was smiling.
