Imposter

"Huh… I was expecting someone cooler." I said, looking up at the statue.

Was this person supposed to be important or something? Out of all the historical stories Katsu told me, not once did a person like this pop up. Even Katsu seemed to be confused by this guy. Who was he?

"You know, when my guild found this statue we thought the same thing." Akira said, coming up from behind us.

All three of us turned around and looked at him. Was he following us the entire time? That's a creepy thought.

"So what now? Have we reached the end of the dungeon?" I asked.

"No no of course not. You still have one challenge left." Akira's eyes became serious in an instant.

What was this last challenge? Was it him? My thoughts began to race when suddenly Katsu pushed me out of the way so I wouldn't be hit by Akira's attack.

What the hell was this? That attack could have killed me and yet Akira still used it! Why?

"Don't think too hard about this, John. That's not Akira." Katsu said.

Whoever it was over there seemed to be impressed by what Katsu just said. He even let out a small laugh which sent chills down my spine.

"My my, I wasn't expecting anyone to figure it out so suddenly. If anything I'd expect this guy's brother to figure it out first." He said.

His body began to transform suddenly. Small cubes surrounded his body and covered him up completely so we couldn't see him.

When the cubes finally left we finally saw what the man truly looked like. His eyes were a shining green and his hair was a golden yellow. His appearance didn't actually look that threatening though.

"Well what do you think of my true form?" He said, waiting to be praised.

"I mean, you look pretty nice." I said.

He seemed pretty thrilled to hear that. Maybe if we continued complimenting him we could find a way to escape.

Katsu and Megumi both agreed that he looked pretty nice and continued to compliment him.

"Why thank you- wait a minute… I know what you're trying to do. Don't think you can get away by buttering me up!" He said.

So much for that plan. Wait, why was he even after us to begin with?

So many questions rushed through my mind but before I could settle on a single one the man had knocked Katsu off his feet and into the water. The man was still in the air, right where Katsu once was, and turned his head towards me. Before I could even raise my sword he hit me in the stomach knocking the wind right out of me.
