Necromancer Problems

"Is this the place?" Fang asked.

"Well with the ominous clouds circling the place along with the walking skeletons I'd say yeah, this is probably it." I stared blankly at the location.

The place in question was an abandoned fort which had apparently been taken over by a necromancer. Preferably, I'd rather be doing something else right now but I could use the coin. At least I had Fang here with me.

I turned over and saw that Fang's tail was wagging as he looked at the skeletons moving around.

"Are you excited?" I asked, raising my eyebrow.

"How could I not be? There's so many bones here!" Fang answered.

Well at least one of us was excited to be here.

"Right… Let's get this over with then." I said, walking over to the two large doors which operated as the main entrance to the fort.

I went to pull the doors open but nothing happened.

"Maybe they're push doors?" Fang suggested.

"I was getting to that!" I shouted.

I slammed my shoulder against the door but nothing happened. I figured as much. I doubt the necromancer would just let people walk into his home that easily.

"How are we supposed to get in now? Do you think there's a secret entrance somewhere?" Fang asked, looking around for some sort of hint.

"I don't doubt that there's a secret entrance somewhere but I could just blow a hole through the doors." I said while getting ready to unsheathe Genki.

"Where's the fun in that though? You're an adventurer are you not? Shouldn't the idea of finding secret areas excite you?"

As much as I hated to admit it, he had a point. Might as well make the most of it while I'm here, right?

"Right then. Where should we start looking?" I asked, giving my full attention to Fang.

"I'm detecting a strange scent by the well over by the stable. Let's try that place first." Fang said excitedly while his tail wagged.

We both made our way over to the well and looked down. At the bottom I could see and hear water. This definitely seemed like the type of place to hide a secret entrance. Now we just needed to find a safe way down because there was no telling just how deep the water was.

"Any ideas on how to get down?" I asked Fang, crossing my arms as I began to brainstorm ideas.

"A ladder maybe? Though I'm not sure where we'd get one." Fang responded.

"Maybe in a storage shed," I looked around and pointed at a small shed, "like that one over there!"

Fang and I both ran over to the shed and opened the door. Inside were a bunch of rusted tools which had long passed their expiration date. With all the sharp objects on the ground, Fang had to stand back and watch so he wouldn't risk hurting his paws.

As I looked around the room, I passed by something that caught my attention. I turned my head back and saw what looked to be a ladder buried underneath all the debris.

"I found one!" I shouted over at Fang.

I grabbed onto the ladder and pulled it out from underneath all the debris. The ladder itself was larger than I expected but that wasn't an issue. We now had a safe way to get down from the well.

"Let's go!" I shouted, running towards the well with our newly acquired ladder.

The two of us reached the well and I began pushing the ladder down the well. Once I felt the ladder hit the ground, I released my grip and got ready to climb down.

"Wait a second. How are you going to get down?" I asked, looking over at Fang.

"Oh yeah." Fang suddenly jumped on my back and hung there.

Thankfully Fang wasn't that heavy so I didn't have any problems with that.
