After climbing down the ladder, we were met with a large open space. Beneath us was a stream of water that came in through a door which had definitely seen better days.
"You think that's the secret entrance we were looking for?" I asked, pointing at the door with my thumb.
"Oh definitely!" Fang said with excitement, walking towards the ruined door with me following from close behind.
I grabbed onto what was left of the door handle and began to pull it open. As I pulled the door open, it made a horrible screeching sound which echoed throughout the area.
"Do you think anyone heard that?" Fang asked.
"With how loud that was, I'd be surprised if someone didn't hear it." I answered.
I took a deep breath before finally stepping through the ruined door and into a hallway with a ceiling that looked like it would collapse at the slightest touch. At the end of the hallway was a lever which most likely opened up an entrance to this place.
"I don't think we can rely on this as a safe escape route." I said, hurrying over to the end of the hallway.
Once Fang had made it across the hallway, I pulled the lever and watched the wall in front of us open up. The two of us both started walking towards the entrance but stopped and turned around at the sound of a rock falling behind us.
I braced for the ceiling above to finally give in and collapse but nothing happened.
"That's a relief! I thought for sure the ceiling was going to block our escape route." Fang laughed.
Just like that, the ceiling collapsed and blocked where we had come in from.
He just had to say something.
"We'll probably not even need to use this once we stop that necromancer!" Fang said, trying to stay positive.
"Let's just hope you're right." I said, leaving the now destroyed hallway.
With all the bookshelves around the room, it was pretty obvious we were in a library. Despite the condition of the room we were just in, this one was quite the opposite. It had dark wooden planks for a floor and had bright red carpets serve as a walkway through the place. At the end of the room was a double staircase that led to a door.
"This guy really likes books." I said, picking up one of the books next to me and opening it.
"Anything interesting?" Fang asked, walking over to me.
"Kinda? It's about some guy trying to rebuild a farm his late grandfather gave to him. I'll keep a hold of it for later." I said, putting the book away into my bag.
"I think we've been here long enough. You ready to find that necromancer?"
"Yeah. Let's go get him!"
Right as I said that, the entrance to the library slammed open and four skeletons walked in.
