Chapter Eighteen

"Why would she lie to me?"

"It's not a big deal, Mayra."

Mayra took in the chaos in front of her eyes. Although it was no match to the turmoil in her mind, she didn't help but wonder how people the same age as her could be as energetic all the time. She felt as though she was a young soul that was trapped in the body of an old but young looking woman.

Mayra let out a heavy sigh before continuing, "You're right, but I thought we told each other everything. No secrets. Isn't that how it goes between siblings?"

The music coming out of the bluetooth speaker suddenly turned from cheerful to sad, as though matching her current thoughts. She picked up her phone and immediately played a more cheerful, happy song.

Shrey laughed as he settled himself on the bench beside Mayra and commented, "Me and my brother argue every time we see each other. We don't share secrets. We barely even talk. All siblings are different."
