Chapter Twenty-nine

Shrey always knew the right words to say to make her smile.

Mayra began, fixing her eyes on her best buddy, "I'm grateful, really, that you're thinking about me. But you should be thinking about Young's Double-slit experiment and Kreb's cycle! Mrs Dixit is happy with your performance but what about Mr Murthi? And you can compliment Ms Dias all you want but she's not going to give you free marks for biology."

Sometimes Shrey grew tired of her attempts to get him to study but he did not miss the concern dancing in her eyes. She feared Shrey would get too occupied with football and end up failing the exams.

"None of these cycles or experiments will matter when I become an international-level football player in the future. You can work as much as you want on perfecting your handwriting but it's going to be me they're begging for autographs but no one will criticise my ugly handwriting," Shrey winked and that made Mayra laugh whole-heartedly. She believed him.
