Monsterphilia IX

Nox craved violence . . . And he would get it . . .

Allen turned his head towards the position where he knew Nox was watching from, wanting to see the expression on his face as a smirk began forming.

The only thing he saw however, was a fist nearing his face before he was smashed flying with a broken nose, crashing into the arena walls so hard his body was buried in the solid stone.

Such a blow was far from enough to incapacitate a Level 6 adventurer like him though so he quickly shook of the dizziness but Nox was already gone, laying Luna down beside Ash and giving her a dose of Panacea as well which near instantly healed her.

His thirst for blood however, was far from abated and his expression as he slowly turned to head back out into the arena frightened everyone there into silence.

There was no twisted expression, no rage, no veins popping . . . Instead, there was pure cold, the cold of the void that mercilessly snuffed out all life.

No one could speak up before the oppressive might and before they could even gulp, Nox was gone, back in the arena already.

Allen didn't even bother with the trash talk like he planned to. Once he saw Nox slowly walk towards him with promises of violence written all over his general demeanour, all the lines to reduce Nox's standing with Orario for attacking were gone.

There was an elaborate plan to trap Nox by turning the crowd against him and goad him in order to destabilize his position and allow Freya to pull more moves on him to steal Nox away from Loki but Allen, staring into the eyes of the cold predator in front him, had lo leeway to think of such matters.

Even Freya, who watched with her special artifact, had already sent two more of her top adventurers to help Allen since Nox was far more powerful than she expected.

On the other hand, it only made her want him more . . .

The greater the brilliance Nox showed to the world, the greater the prismatic glow of his indecipherable kaleidoscopic soul, the harder Freya found to resist the temptation to try and steal him away, even if it meant antagonising Loki.

Even now, as she saw the cold, reaper like visage of Nox, she only grew hotter at the prospect of seeing a whole new side of the object of her affections and deep obsessive love which she had no way to control.

Never before had Freya felt so intensely about someone, all her lovers, her power, her wealth, they became more and more unsatisfactory as time went on and her obsession with Nox grew.

She would have him, one way or another . . .

But then, she heard something that gave her pause and it came from her observation magic item which allowed her to survey the city.

It was Nox, finally opening his mouth as he approached allen who was tightly on guard with his silver spear in hand.

"How badly do you think I can torture you before you pals arrive? I can feel your goddess watching so they shouldn't take long." He declared with a cold and malicious smile.

'He can feel he's being watched!?' Freya thought with shock since no one has ever managed to sense when she used her crystal sphere to spy on them.

"It gets annoying sometimes you know, feeling watched all the time, good thing I can hide from it whenever I please but imagine how worthless you must be if your beloved goddess thinks spending so much time watching me is preferable that actually paying attention to you?" Nox poked at Allen's intense jealousy, planning on not only a physical beatdown but a mental one as well.

Allen gritted his teeth but did not lash out.

"Nice discipline!" Nox praised.

"Like a trained dog-I mean cat!" He added.

"Seriously though, why does your goddess elect to spy on me and not, you know, do something for a devoted little peon like you?" Nox continued.

"Is your little brother as short as you? Maybe that's why?" He mercilessly trampled all over Allen's insecurities.

Normally, no one dared to say such things to Allen due to his power and even when they did, he could easily dismiss their words as ravings of the weak. But having someone who he know realized was far stronger than himself do so . . . It cut deep.

"In the end, Freya-sama will lose interest after she has her fun with you as well." Allen fired back.

"Oh poor poor cat." Nox said with fake pity.

"That assumes she'll get me. Besides, what makes you think I care about her interest? I'm not you." He continued with ridicule.

"Ha! Do you think you can resist our goddess?" Allen mocked.

"We're quite incompatible and since Divine Charm doesn't work on me, Freya doesn't have many options." Nox said.

"What!?" Allen was in disbelief.

Freya on the other hand, was finding Nox more and more worthy of her love, if he was truly immune to Divine Charm as he said, then it would make his affection even more valuable and Freya couldn't wait to get it, though his talk of incompatibility garnered her interest and doubt.

"Did you think I'm a boy toy who would fall to the whims of a goddess of beauty just 'cause she looked at me? Again, I'm not you." Nox mocked once again.

Allen was feeling more humiliated than ever and thought he was fairly sure the audience didn't hear them as they were speaking low, being humiliated in front of so many compounded the effect.

"Enough you bastard!" He finally lost it and charged Nox.

With a ghastly grin, Nox thought . . .

'Now it's self defence . . . And you're done.'
