The Matter of Freya I

'It seems Loki's instincts and experience allow her to sniff out things that wouldn't even cross my mind if not for my previous knowledge . . .' Nox internally praised Loki with a wry smile, knowing that keeping things completely hidden from his beloved red haired goddess was truly difficult.

He knew that not only had his goddess figured out there was something off about Horn, but she was also making a subtle poke at him as she had sniffed out that he knew more than he was sharing.

Being Nox's lover and knowing him well enough to realize he probably had his reasons, she made her displeasure known in a way the others would not notice.

Well, Riveria did, simply because she was in such a position, the position of knowing there were things Nox was sharing, not too long ago before managing to convince her paramour to put more trust on her.

Regardless, electing not to put Nox on blast, Loki left it at then and suggested they move to meet the two guests as they ought to be getting antsy by now. Horn would be at least, as for the stoic Ottar, it would take a lot more to truly unsettle him.

The whole group moved to the room but looking at each other, Nox, Loki, Riveria and Finn swiftly decided to leave the less, rational based thinkers aside to prevent drama from occurring.

"Alright, Loki, me, Gareth, Riveria and Nox will be going to the meeting, the rest of you stay behind, we don't want to set off the guest any further than we have to." Finn declared.

Bete "tched" with displeasure at being left out but said nothing.

"Captaaaaiiinn!" Tione complained and her sister was about to follow her in doing so when Nox pinned her with a look that showed his agreeance, making her remain quiet.

Ais noticed this as well and elected to remain quietly obedient as she was in hot water already.

The others suddenly went quiet with Tione ceasing her complaining, Finn stopping the Tione convincing moves he usually made use of and the rest who did not also belong to Nox's private group staring in awe.

"What?" Nox asked with confusion in response to the stares pointed at him.

"How did you tame Tiona so well? Even Ais is obediently accepting the Captain's decision without any discomfort based on the simple fact that you agreed with it." Tione pointed out while Finn, Gareth and Loki just nodded in agreement.

Nox shrugged.

"Tiona is hardly a surprise considering how easy the captain handles you." He unashamedly pointed out, embarrassing the amazoness but making the others sagely nod as they thought Nox's argument to be perfectly sound and absolutely reasonable.

"As for Ais . . . Let's say she already got herself into trouble and is making a pointed effort to stay on my good side for now." Nox added.

The Loki familia higher ups found this a very interesting matter worthy of attention. After all, Ais truly was the apple of their eye but they knew now was not the time hence, they all elected to postpone discussion on Ais for later and move to meet with the guests.

After Nox's perfect taming of two of the troublesome girls, the rest, Bete and Tiona also reluctantly decided to acquiesce to Finn's order without further complaining.

Those remained finished making their way to the conference room where Ottar and Horn were waiting, making their way in without hesitation.

Horn was about to complain and ask when Nox would arrive since all she saw was the known higher ups of the Loki Familia entering along with their goddess but clammed up real quick once she finally saw the man himself walking in behind them.

Sharing thoughts and emotions with Freya was something but for the poor Horn, it was her first time seeing Nox in the flesh and she froze like a deer in headlights.

After all, this impossible handsome and talented young adventurer had been plaguing her dreams and occupying her every thought, courtesy of her beloved goddess.

She had been full of complaints, ready to spill out a barrage of hatred laden insults for Nox had changed her beloved goddess Freya for, in her mind at least, the worse.

Alas, the goddess' obsessive love for him made her completely freeze up when the man himself was standing right before her and her poor showing was made very obvious for Ottar and all of the Loki Familia's top executives to see.

This was where the difference between the original series and the current state of things. Bell was cute like a harmless animal, bearing an appearance that made his incredible power and talent a hard thing to believe in without a first hand showing.

It made it easy to underestimate him, but also easier to approach him, both with good and ill will alike.

Nox on the other hand, was far more imposing, his aura awed those surrounding him and made him harder to approach, those who admired him lost their words from awe and those who despised him lost them out of fear.

Horn who both loved and hated Nox was hit with a double whammy, feeling woefully inadequate to face down the monster that humiliated her familia's vice captain without even trying to put serious effort into the so called fight.

With the young woman out of commission, Ottar had to step up and take the reigns, he was quite looking forward to meeting the unfathomable rising star as well, despite the less than ideal circumstances.

"It is good to finally meet you face to face Archon. May we have a word in private?"
