The Matter of Freya II

"It is good to finally meet you face to face Archon. May we have a word in private?" Ottar greeted and went right down to business with his request.

Now, Nox had zero issue with such a request and, even if the other party had him give his word that he would not share the contents of the conversation, Nox was fully capable of seeing in a "My girls are a part of me so even if I tell them it's like talking to myself." kind of way to justify spilling the proverbial beans.

The problem Ottar and Horn, who was now employing her maximum effort to settle down and discuss matters with a level head, were facing, was that the members of the Loki Familia would never accept such a thing, specially since they had the absolute advantage.

After all, the other party had come into their house, asking for one of their members. With the homefield advantage and the fact that they were the ones who held the desired "goods" aka Nox, profiteering folk who were simple unable to accept such a foolish loss like Loki would never swallow such conditions with the current situation.

Ottar, unlike his simple stoic appearance, too realized this, he simply saw no problem in taking the chance to ask. After all, an absolute prodigy like Nox . . . If he simply felt like agreeing to such a request, the rest of the Familia would probably acquiesce, at most Loki would also remain behind.

That was the ideal, after all, Freya looked quite highly upon Loki and amongst all of the gods and goddesses in Orario, Loki was probably the one who knew Freya best and also the one of the goddess of beauty distrusted the least, at least enough to share some of her more questionable practices and warn her when she was about to make a mess.

Though her newest and most overpowering obsession, Nox, belonging to Loki certainly put a dampener in their relationship, Loki was most like still the one closest to Freya amongst all the divinities in Orario.

Alas, the attempt was worth it but Nox didn't take the bait, being more than content to let his capable familia members and goddess handle the initial part. This way the advantage would be greater but mainly, he was wanted to see how much they could make the King squirm.

It was Nox's fist face to face meeting with the legendary Ottar after all, he most definitely felt like probing the King and figure out all of his secrets, just like Ottar wished to figure him out as well.

Just the fact that he had not take the bait raised Ottar's evaluation of him but of course, such things were only supplementary compared to the power and adventurous spirit the King saw as the defining traits of a true Adventurer.

With power, or at least the potential to attain it, along with a will to go out and take risks with a true adventure, one could ever reach the apex Ottar held in such high esteem, at least he most definitely believed that was the case, as did his beloved goddess.

All of these considerations however, happened in during the short moment when nox pretended not to hear Ottar's request to speak privately, now, it was time for the Loki Familia's response and, such responsibility fell to the most worthy spokesperson, the captain himself, Finn.

"Now, now King, don't you think you're overreaching a tad too much?" The pallum questioned.

The boaz just closed his eyes and adopted Nox's tactic of pretending not to hear, anyways they were effective after all.

It looked as if he was waiting for Nox's response but if Nox actually replied, he would be undermining Finn.

Clearly Ottar was a tough cookie. Unfortunately though, the situation id not really favor him. He managed to create a deadlock but, unlike the Loki Familia who had the time, he was on a schedule, as such, in the end, his group had to cave first.

However, to move things along and facilitate the following talks, there was indeed a move that the Lokiu familia could take without harming their position too much and that was to extend an olive's branch to the other party.

"Let us put it this way, only I, Loki and Nox will remain, and we'll all swear secrecy so long as maintaining will not lead to the harming of our respective familias." Finn deftly suggested.

Knowing such a offer would be the best he would most likely get and that trying to bargain for more would only further weaken his position, Ottar accepted the suggestion with a nod.

This way of sorting things might have underplayed Nox importance and the weight of his voice in the Loki Familia but it was still alright.

As for Ottar, he pulled out a magical contract scroll to finalize the contract of silence before the talks began.

Nox hid a weird expression that threatened to come up as soon as he saw that though. After all, that was one of the most popular items he sold, they were an extremely inferior copy to the contracts he made with his group.

And since he made them, he naturally made sure that no one could easily used them against him.

'Heh! Trying to use my own tricks against me . . . Tch, tch, tch. Looks like I'll be able to profit from this secrecy, at the very least, I'll have a trump card for blackmail if this is serious enough which it probably is.'
