That night no one could shut up about Ron. He had become popular, but not in the way he had wanted, he being the first human was one thing, but being the first human non-royal of any sort was something. He wished he was maybe a prince from one of those fancy places like London, or any part of Europe with him it was all fancy.
And worst of all. All the pretty girls were now avoiding calling him some mutated human with powers like some freak who got hit by a radioactive rock or something. Surprisingly, this was all going on in his mind.
"Ron… "He heard Nathan's voice as it jerked him out of his very deep thought. He quickly scanned around and remembered that Nathan was his roommate and that he had been on his bed for the past two hours whining about how the head boy had ruined his ticket to hot dates. This was going to be like his life back in Mayfield just a bit painful because he had powers now.
"Ah..what do you want Nathan? I can't believe you didn't tell me that only princes and princesses of whatever bloodline become god slayers. Now…I don't think I will get the finest girls I have always wanted. Am so screwed."
Nathan just laughed.
"That is all you could think of. Girls! Not why you're the first human to become a god slayer."
"Oh, yeah, there's also that, I had forgotten as he had about that." Ron laughed then pushed himself off his king-size bed.
"We are first years Ron, not very much happens when you are a first-year," Nathan said.
Ron stared at Nathan after him saying so. Easy for you to say. You're already doing it with Aurora. That is what he would have said, but the man is a royal who is the magical type. He may kick his ass before he finishes the sentence.
He shrugged and carried his suitcase and rested it on the carpeted floor. The room was so large with one bathroom, two king-size beds, two sixty five-inch television sets and a huge modern Chandelier set on the ceiling. The room floor was covered by a maroon woollen carpet with the school badge imprinted in it. The badge was a picture of an eagle beast with the midbody being of a winged lion.
He was about to take his clothes when they all disappeared into the wardrobe, along with the uniforms. 'Wow…' he stared at everything organised itself.
"Oh, I had forgotten you've never seen magic before," Nathan said while holding what looked like a glowing white crystal in his hand. He was using it to control everything in the room.
Ron stared at the crystal at it slowly powered down once Nathan was done, what is that?"He asked, pointing at the crystal.
"It's an Altaen crystal, wizards like us use them to do magic." Nathan answered, "they grow almost everywhere apart from Midgard."
"M-Mid..what?"
"Midgard. It's where you came from, in other words, earth. You will understand everything during orientation." Nathan said, pushing the crystal into his jacket pocket.
"I should go find Aurora and you, should go out and make friends." He continued as he walked out of the room, leaving Ron behind and alone.
Just after five minutes, his stomach made an awful noise that reminded him the last thing he had eaten that day was nothing. He had to get out of the room and find something to eat, but he also wanted to avoid people. How was he going to pull that off and at the same time get something to eat.
He picked up his old green jacket and wore it to keep him warm. He then cautiously walked out of the room and into the corridor. It wasn't what he expected, it was rather quiet like everyone was gone or sound to sleep. Ron saw this as an opportunity for him to go find a map around this dam place and hopefully a kitchen or something that isn't a vending machine.
He was just about to draft out of the dorm.
"Um..um…where do you think your going young man?" A woman called him from behind.
Ron stopped, then turned slowly to see who it was. He was scared that maybe he had been caught doing something wrong, but to his surprise, it was a red-haired girl holding an Altaen crystal in her hand, not some creepy old woman.
The girl laughed, "I can't believe you fell for that." she said in a woman's voice before it sounded back to that of a girl. He couldn't believe he had just been pranked on the first day. The girl stopped laughing when she noticed his blue eyes.
"Huh, so you're the Ron," she said as she put the crystal away and moved closer to him to get a clear glance at him. That's when also Ron got to see her face, it was incredibly beautiful with a tattoo on her left hand. She had perfect almond-shaped eyes, a perfectly shaped chest that he couldn't keep his eyes off along with a perfect curvaceous body.
"My best guess is that you're hungry. Come with me, I was heading to the diner," She said, "Am Ellen…Ellen Starhold," She put her right hand forward and he quickly shook. There was no need to introduce himself, everyone in the school already knew him.
"So, when did you find out you're a god slayer?" She asked him as she took a bite from the pizza piece that was on her plate. The diner was within the school premises and lucky for them it was open for twenty-four hours, allowing them to get something to eat since it was during the night.
"A few days ago, at my old school," Ron answered.
"Wow, just days ago. Can you even do magic?"
"Well, I don't know how to use an Altaen crystal. I didn't even know it existed until today."
Ellen giggled, "I can help you with that," she pulled out her crystal and it glowed so brightly that you could be blinded by staring at it for a long time.
"Follow me," she whispered, then stood up and walked heading to the forest that was surrounding the academy. He followed her as they went deeper through the bushes.
The bushes later got thicker and he could no longer see the school or anything at all.
"We're here." She said after setting her eyes on a huge water body that was in the middle of the forest. The water was so clear you could see the moon's reflection in it.
'This water is said to come from the ocean that surrounds Midgard. I can't believe that after millions of years, it still stands," Ellen gazed at the water and placed it in her crystal. The water started to glow and started to float.
"A perfect source of energy to revive a god." she said and looked at him, "isn't that right? Ron." Something about her face had changed it was toneless.
His eyes widened when he felt he couldn't move once he was at gaze with her. Something about her eyes had stopped him from moving.
This won't hurt a bit." Ellen smiled and fear started to cloud his mind. A man-made of light flew from the lake and stood right beside her,
"Is this the one," The man asked in a deep and strong voice while looking at Ron? He didn't know why, but some about his white glowing eyes made him want to run away.
"Yes, he the god slayer strong enough to kill us," Ellen said. All this was happening right in front of Ron, he couldn't move nor say anything and could only hear their conversation. Oh, he wished this was just a dream. Ellen wasn't a god slayer, that was enough to scare him and the glowing man he had no idea, but this wasn't good news judging by what he was hearing.
"Indeed, he will kill the gods and the god slayers who will ever get in his way." the man laughed.
That's when Ron noticed it. Ellen's eyes weren't bright red they were silver and glowed the same light as that of the moon.
"If he doesn't die in the next few months." She said.
"He won't." the man smiled and continued to glare at him.
Ellen chuckled, "I don't how you got me to believe this plan of yours will work, Apollo."
"Come on sister, have faith," he said.
Ron felt drowsy and his body began to lose strength, his legs felt like spaghetti and he could no longer stay standing. He stumped onto the ground and immediately lost his consciousness.
