Facing Villains

Mika uncovered her face and tried looking around; she noticed she was falling to the ground. Mika panicked, "Crap!" she shouted; eagle wings came out of her back and she caught herself from falling.

Mika sighed in relief, "If I kept falling down, I'd be as good as dead." she said. Mika flew higher and looked around; the only thing she could see is fire and destroyed buildings covered by the flames, "It's safe to say that I'm in the Fire Zone in USJ." she said.

Mika looked at the ground, "Is anyone I know in here?" she asked herself, "I hope they're okay..." When Mika looked forward, she saw someone falling to the ground; she flew as fast as she could towards them.

As Mika got closer, she noticed the figure had a tail, "Ojiro!" she shouted as she grabbed Mashirao's arms. Mika almost fell with Mashirao, but she used all of her strength in her wings to prevent it. Mashirao sighed in relief and looked at Mika, "Thanks for the save, Lyoko." he said.

Mika nodded as she flew down and gently placed Mashirao on the ground. Mika's wings disappeared, and she landed on the ground. Mika turned to Mashirao, "We need to get back to the others quickly." she said. Mashirao nodded, and they started sprinting.

(Small Time Skip)

They ran around in the fire zone and stopped for a bit. Mika looked around, "I believe the exit will be close to the walls of this facility." she said. Mashirao nodded as he tried catching his breath, "I agree... we need to find the exit." he said.

"You're leaving already? But you just got here." they felt chills down their backs when they heard that voice. When they turned around, they saw villains surrounding them.

They were back to back and looked at the villains, "Should've known something like this would happen." Mika whispered; Mashirao nodded, "What do we do?" he whispered.

Mika transformed into a Fennec fox hybrid; she grabbed the pen-like object from her utility belt and pushed the button. Soon after, it turned into a stun baton, "If we're on our own... then we have to fight back." Mika said.

The villains laughed at Mika, "This girl's got some spunk in her." one villain said. He held his machete up, "It's a shame that we have to kill you." he continued.

Mika smirked, "Here's the thing, I don't plan on dying when I have people that care for me." she said, "So all of you can go to hell!" The villains got angry, "You're being a pest, get them!" one villain shouted, making the other villains charge at them.

They jumped in the air and landed in different spots. Mika used one of the arm braces and blocked one of the villain's weapons; she hit him with the stun baton.

The villain was shaking a bit, but Mika kicked him in the face, knocking him out; other villains were trying to surround her. Mika was quick enough to transform into a kangaroo hybrid and jumped as high as she could.

When the villains looked up, Mika transformed into an elephant and slammed on them, knocking them out instantly. Mika transformed back into a Fennec fox hybrid, "It's not the greatest strategy, but in this scenario... I have no choice." she said.

"Lyoko! I could use some help here!" Mika heard Mashirao's voice with her animal ears. When Mika turned around, she saw Mashirao being held by a villain. Mika turned towards Mashirao and sprinted towards him, "Hold on, Ojiro!" she shouted.

As Mika ran towards Mashirao, two villains jumped at her. Mika slid under them and used her stun baton on both of them, but she did not notice the villain behind her.

When Mika turned around, the villain grabbed her by the neck and slammed her on the wall; Mashirao's eyes widened, "Lyoko!" he shouted. Mika struggled to get out of the villain's grip, "Your good, little girl." he said with a smirk, "But, there's one thing that makes us different."

His grip on Mika's neck got tighter, "You don't want to kill anyone, but I do." he continued. Mika looked at the villain, *Is this it... is this how I'll die.* she thought as her movements slowed down.

Mika closed her eyes and saw the flashbacks of her past, from manifesting her Quirk when she was a child to being accepted into U.A. High.

Mika also saw her parents, her classmates, her teachers in her flashbacks as well. Mika saw the times she has spent with Koji smiling at her, and that her life would disappear in her own eyes.

Something lit inside Mika; she gritted her teeth and glared at the villain, "No! I'm not done yet!!" she shouted. Mika screamed in the air and fire spread around her and the villain's arm.

The villain flinched and dropped Mika, "What the hell is this bitch doing!" he shouted as he held his burned arm and backed away from her.

The fire covering Mika started growing and taking shape. When the fire disappeared, a giant bird with fire on the tips of its orange feathers stood in front of them.

The creature opened its violet-blue eyes and stared at the group of villains. Mashirao looked at the creature and saw a collar around its neck, "Lyoko?" he whispered.

The villains looked at Mika, "What the hell is that thing!" one villain shouted. "Like it matters!" another villain shouted, "It's a target, so lets kill the thing already!"

Mika turned to the villain holding Mashirao and her eyes lit up. Fire covered the villain's face, making him dropped Mashirao and putting fire on his face out. Mika looked at Mashirao and created a fire barrier around him, "This is Lyoko's Quirk... it's insane." he said lowly.

The villains charged towards Mika; she looked at them, "You will not hurt them." she said with an intimidating voice. A fire ring surrounded the villains, startling them, "The hell is this!" one villain shouted.

"We can't get out!" another villain shouted. "No one said that one of the students was a monster." another one said; Mika froze at the term.

(Flashback Begins)

"Look, it's the monster." a boy said. "Monsters don't deserve to be in this school." another boy said. "Why do they call her a monster?" a girl asked. "You haven't heard." another girl said, "She injured half of her classmates and two of the caretakers in day care. It's why people call her a monster."

(Flashback Ends)

Mika shook her head, *I will no longer be called a monster.* she thought, *I'll be known as a hero.* Mika flew towards the group of villains and knocked all of them out with her wings, creating an enormous gust of wind.

Mashirao covered his face and tried staying on the ground. Mika flew above the area and tried finding any more enemies.

When Mika found no more villains, she landed on the ground and disabled the fire barrier Mashirao was in. Mika walked towards Mashirao as he stood up, "Lyoko? Are you still in there?" he asked with worry.

Mika nodded, making Mashirao sigh in relief; she scanned him, "You're wondering if I got hurt or not?" he asked. Mika nodded to the question; Mashirao rubbed his neck, "Well... I got some cuts and bruises on my tail, but noting to be worried about." he said.

Mika lowered her head to Mashirao's tail, confusing him. Mika started crying on Mashirao's tail, making him panic. Mashirao noticed his tail was healing, surprising him. When it was fully healed, Mashirao turned to Mika, "How did you do that?" he asked.

Mashirao realized something, "You can manipulate fire and heal people through your tears." he said, "You're a Phoenix..." Mika nodded as she lowered her neck to Mashirao, "I'm guessing you want to change back, but you can't because you don't have fingers." he said.

Mika nodded to the statement; Mashirao nodded and pushed the button on her collar. Mika flinched a bit, but the fire disappeared as she turned back to normal. Mika fell to the ground, but Mashirao caught her, "Are you alright?" he asked.

Mika nodded, "I'm just exhausted." she said, "Do you mind helping me out again by pressing another button on one of my feet sleeves?" Mashirao nodded and pushed a button on Mika's foot sleeve.

Mika flinched a bit, but not as much as she got up on her own, "Thanks." she said smiling, "We should get going; I'm worried about the others." Mashirao nodded, "Right." he said as they walked side-to-side towards the exit.
