Bodie, Lolupata

Bodie is a small village surrounded by wilderness. On one side, red grass grows up to the shoulder of its residents. On the other, the terrain rises quickly, forming a natural barrier and leading to a mountain chain.

The residents of Bodie do not go into the tall grass lightly. It is common knowledge that the grasses may hide the odd stalking beast, who will no doubt snatch any easy targets for a meal. They do not dare to attack the village properly due to the force the community can turn to defend itself.

The town counts with about a dozen buildings and around 50 individuals living in it. Not exactly modern, they follow a tribal hierarchy, where the hunters also serve as defenders for the community. The rest of the community are the young and their tenders, pillars of the village who make sure the young are kept safe and provide the simplest of education. There are no old or infirm living among them.

It is in this situation that Adam and Irulan barge one random afternoon.

The town was alarmed since their figures could be seen on the horizon. 20 individuals could be found standing in front of the village, weapons ready. One could assume the rest of the population was hiding inside the buildings.

For Adam, the last couple of days had been the best and worst he could remember in his life. When the first night came, he had been distraught for not been able to log off. His mind went to a rather famous movie where all the players in a game had been kidnapped by one rogue admin. But when he started getting hungry, he had to admit he had no idea what was going on.

His worries and stress were countered by Irulan providing information on the so-called mystic energies.

"And only humans are widely known for using them. Not many other species here have the ability. Unless you have a lucky encounter. There is no counting on them. You can get all kinds of exceptions in those cases" the cat provided.

"OK. So most humans CAN use them?" Adam reiterated. "Is there any kind of system for its use? Runes? Prayers? Karate-like movements or hand gestures?"

The giant kitten looked at him with thinly veiled contempt. "I'm not too sure on the human ways. I think it depends" Irulan answered and stopped explaining.

For Adam, learning more about these energies was super important. It was the first clue he had on powers that could increase-his-level-and-get-him-to-the-top-of-the-leaderboards...

"So..."

"..."

"Could you explain it to me once more, please?" Adam asked.

"What part?" Irulan asked.

"The elements. Are you sure they are five, not four?"

"Yes. I was taught the 5 elements which comprise the universe are Wood, Fire, Water, Metal, and Earth. The mystic energies are also related to these elements".

"But what about Air?" Adam asked.

"What about air?"

"How come it is not one of the elements?" He whined.

"I am not sure what you mean. I think you should ask someone with more knowledge. If you get to a big city, you should be able to find a master or join a Sect," she answered.

It had been tough on Irulan too. Once Adam had set his mind on getting information about something, he could be relentless and quite annoying.

His whining stopped once he was able to see the village's defenders up close.

"THIS IS A GOBLIN VILLAGE???"
