After handling what could only be called a inter-species diplomatic snafu, Adam prepared for his usual shift waiting in the central plaza. He put on a new set of armor and took on his weapons.
His efforts in the last couple of weeks had paid off. The small arms he traded with the village had helped him get a bunch of new materials and a lot of practice making gear, so of course he revamped all of his items.
He wore on his torso a shirt made out of leather strips, studded with bronze pins. He had also made arm bracers, a kilt and shin guards out of the same material.
He had realied on the system to continuously improve the manufacturing process, measuring the final hardness and flexibility until they reached acceptable levels.
"This ought to do it" he said when he finished putting everything on.
Adam walked to the plaza and sat down in his usual spot. It was already routine to take stock of his surroundings, take note of anything unusual and start talking with the system, explaining new concepts.
It took a couple of hours of waiting until there was a loud whistle on the plaza. Adam and the others stood up at the same time and started walking to the usual killing grounds.
Adam had already noticed the tribe was using themselves as bait, drawing wild beasts to them for food. It was no defense team, but a downright entrapment system.
Adam quickly got near to the couple of Tengus he had the arregement with, and they got their shields in position next to him. He had also improved their defensive equipment, adding spikes on the outside of their shields and giving short spears so they could make some damage in close quarters. If you counted his long spear and the new blade he had, his team was practically unstoppable on the field. Well, only the Chief could compete with them, and he usually did.
Adam had decided today he was going to make the kill and get first dibs on the spoils, so he was going to do his best.
[Start gathering data. I want critical points of attack and predictions as soon as you can. Use team hunting settings] he instructed the System.
It was then that Adam saw a giant silver chicken chasing a Tengu right into the field. The fowl creature towered over the Tengu at least 3 times it size and 20 times it's weight. It was fast and had almost caught up with the scout when the defensive line started yelling at it to gain its attention. They would use the usual tactic. Let the beast attack the line and then fold on earthier side to trap it.
As soon as Adam saw the animal he lost all traces of plans and ambitions on his mind, the only thing remaining was a faint and powerful memory that brought out forgotten desires which ripped an unbidden scream from his throat that alarmed the rest of the defense team.
"I WANT FRIED CHICKEN!!"
