After I grabbed my guitar, I went out of my room and locked it, I stood still and looked around for a while.
Honestly, I'm gonna miss this place, after all this is my original home and will always be my home, where my childhood began and where I will always find comfort amidst all the harrowing memories that had happened here.
Kody went back inside, checking on me if I was ready to go.
"Hey dude." Kody said, "Why are you just standing there?"
"Taking one last glance at the house." I replied.
"Shush, stop being emotional." Kody consoled, "You'll be having all sorts of fun in the Philippines."
"Hey, I'm not being emotional." I warned
"Okay², sheesh calm down will you?" Kody replied, "Now let's go."
I walked down the stairs, heading outside towards Kody's car, then I approached the back seat and opened the rear door to place the guitar in there.
Kody takes the driver's seat while I occupy the passenger's seat, we both buckled up. He starts the engine, then proceeds to back the car out of the driveway.
"Are you sure you can drive?" I asked, my head sticking out of the window. "I can drive if you want to."
"Trust me, I'm an expert at driving." Kody replied, almost hitting one of our guards. "I take it back, you drive."
"How did you even get here with that kind of driving?" I asked, getting out of the car to take the driver's seat. "I'm surprised you're not dead yet or in jail."
"I don't even know man." He replied, as he moves to the passenger seat. "I outplayed death I guess."
I safely continued backing the car out of the driveway, and slowly bend into the road.
"Wow, you're smooth at driving." Kody complimented.
"Of course, we need to be in one piece." I replied, as I stepped on the gas pedal and drove off towards the main road.
As soon as we draw nearer to the main road, we could already see the traffic and the cars were backed up for miles.
"We can't take the main road." Kody said, "That's a traffic jam right there."
"Yeah, we might run out of time." I replied.
I hanged a left a turn and bypassed the main road to avoid the traffic jam and save time.
We were on the alternative route that goes round the traffic, but not all people uses this route since it only leads to one street, which is the Kensington High Street.
Kensington High Street is the main shopping street in Kensington, London, it is one of the most wealthiest areas in London.
My grandad lives near the street, specifically in Kensington Palace Gardens, which is also a street in Kensington, west central London.
The home of the most expensive properties in the world. It is where most billionares are located.
My father used to live with grandad, but he eventually left cause he wanted to earn his own money, he wanted to be independent.
He didn't want to live off his father for the rest of his life, he wanted to venture out and start his own business.
Grandad admired him for having the spirit of bravery and independence, he was very certain that his son will succeed in life with that perspective.
It wasn't easy, he went through all sorts of obstacles, he was at the verge of giving up. His works always failed, it led his business to bankruptcy, but that never stopped him, he kept on trying until it succeeded and his life changed from then on.
"Wow, I've never been to this place." Kody said, as he looked around in awe. "What is this street?"
"Kensington High Street." I replied, "It's one of the most wealthiest areas here."
"How come you've never been here?" I asked, "Your father takes you with him."
"He does, but I'm the one who hesitates." He replied, "I'm an introvert, remember?."
"How about your mom?." I asked, "Don't you ever go with your parents?"
"Nope." He replied, "Our relationship with each other is good, but I'm not a big fan of public places."
"They're so into meeting other people." He added, "It feels like I'm adopted."
I laughed, "Probably you are."
"Woah, what's that place?" Kody beamed, as he sticks his head out of the window. "This looks so prestigious."
"I present to you." I declared, "Kensington Palace Gardens."
"Who are we visiting again?" He asked.
"My grandad." I replied.
"YOU'RE GRANDAD LIVES HERE?!" He blurted, his face full of surprise. "I've never felt so poor than I am now."
I stepped on the brakes as I waited for the guards to open the gate, I then moved and gave my I.D to the guard.
"I'll be visiting house no. 1537." I stated.
"Charles Theodore Kinsly Senior it is," the guard said, "Are you his grandson?"
"Yes I am." I replied, "Why are you asking?"
"He told us this morning that he's expecting you," the guard said.
"Ah yes, I told him the day before." I replied.
The guard nodded and smiled, "You may pass through." the guard said.
I smiled and then entered the premises, the place never changed, the trees planted on the sidewalk are still very healthy.
I drove straight then hanged a right, then we stopped at the second house in the block that we were in, which is my grandad's house.
I turned off the engine, "We're here." I said.
Kody and I got our seatbelts off and then left the car. I rang the doorbell and waited for somebody to respond.
Jeremy, grandad's loyal servant, approached and opened the gate for us.
"Greetings Ethan, you're grandad has been waiting for you." Jeremy said.
"Yes I am aware, sorry for being late." I replied, "Something came up and got us a little delayed."
"Oh I see." He said, "but what's important is you're here."
"Come inside, shall we." He added.
We followed him inside, Kody was in awe, he was amazed by the interior.
"This place is huge." Kody exclaimed, as he was turning around admiring it.
"Yes it is." I replied, "It also takes time to clean."
Jeremy led us to the back porch, and there I saw grandad, playing golf.
Grandad is 70 years old, yet he can still play a variety of sports, he still excercises every morning.
Physical looks grow old, but the heart won't.
It will always remain young, energetic and loving.
If your grandad is still here, spend time with them, give all of your love and affection and include them in your prayers, before it's too late.
