CHAPTER 2

Dear diary,

I think I love the blood. The deep crimson color, the disembodied life, the metallic smell, the perfect consistency... It all lures me. May be it's a good way to feed my demons. At least they don't scream at night inside my head and I can sleep peacefully. Tell me one thing, I know that I'll go to hell if there is any at all, but will I be the one tortured there or the one with the whip? I'm going crazy thinking about it.

           Love, Sam.

----------

It was two in the morning and the rain was pouring down outside. The newborn babies of the street dog were howling in the cold. All the windows of the local houses were protecting the people sleeping inside except one tiny basement ventilation.

Samantha was sitting with a jug of coffee and a cup with her eyes locked on the laptop screen. Several pictures and tags and timings and locations could be seen floating on the neatly arranged digital document. With every tiny bit of information going inside her head, Samantha was calculating all the possibilities of the success of this solo assassination mission.

The target is the CEO of Audrey Finances, Andrew Lee. Named after his dead mother, the company has been stealing money from the people in the name of giving loan for their business purposes. Two days from now, Wednesday evening at 7:30 PM, he will be checking in to the Great Sapphire Regency to catch a flight the next morning. Sneaking into the five star hotel, Samantha has to end the life of that millionaire thief and free the poor people from the burden of their debt.

Stealth murder of a public figure.

This is going to be so much fun.

Adrenaline rushed through Samantha's veins as she finished the rest of the black coffee and started on planning the strategy with a pen and notebook.

They skillful handpicked the one candidate who's supposed to start her career tomorrow at that place. Generally the manager takes one interview of the applicants and if chosen, they are provided with their outfits and ID and spend the rest of their career running behind pages and complaints. The main server is probably hacked by now and they'll have her face uploaded into her profile and since the manager never gets involved with the housekeepings after recruiting there's apparently no risk of being identified.

She just have to play amateur and take advantage of it.

The VIP guests are always being taken care of by the old and experienced housekeepers. There were a few names who keep the new ones under their wings for a while until they learn properly. But, whoever it is, Samantha just have to convince him or her to let her take the bigger step. She just has to show her curiosity and use her clever words for approval to take care of her special guest.

And then, she'll dirty her hands once again with the blood of an unworthy human.

Writing down and remembering the important informations about the system and people of the Regency, she allowed herself to grin widely looking at the blank wall in front of her. It's been a while since she has received such a complicated assignment.

And complicacy is fun.

She probably wouldn't be able to sleep tonight. To let the excitement out of her body, Samantha got up to do some kick boxing.

The night darkened more on the surface of earth.

----------

"Jill, did you steal my come come cat?"

"No, I didn't!"

"Jill!"

"I said I didn't!"

"I moved it." Samantha said emotionlessly from the reception.

"But why?" Avery whined.

"Because it's stupid. We don't depend on voodoo, we depend on the quality of our food."

"But still... And it's not voodoo! It's good luck."

"Whatever." Samantha laughed inside her head. Luck is not a word she allows to interfere in her life too much; but that son of a bitch has it's way of letting her hear its footsteps behind her back.

"Sam, Steven is calling you."

Putting the blueberry pie inside the oven, she went to the boss's chamber.

"Samantha, there's a parcel for you."

It's finally here.

"Okay. Thanks S!"

"What is it?"

"A. It's none of your business... and B. I have a pie burning into flames out there so I gotta go."

"Ooooooo I see, lingerie!"

"Shut up! And one more thing, I need the day off tomorrow. Cousin coming over from LA."

"It's the second time in a month you're asking for leave."

"I know, please S, cut my salary I wouldn't say a word. But it's 'that' cousin you know." She air quoted, "So... I'm ready to work overtime!"

Steven laughed out loud and said, "Okay, but for you know I only hand my bakery over to people like you Samantha! I need you to be a part of this, like a family. I need you to treasure this, alright! Let's attend to the customers now."

While he roamed around in the dining area for the rest of the day, Samantha patiently awaited for her shift to be over so that she can go to her apartment and check out the ID and size of the housekeeping outfit of Great Sapphire Regency.
