It was one of those strange days where Sirius wasn't trying to be a total doofus. Of course none of the marauders were happy as to why. Sirius had received a very threatening howler about his sexuality from his mother, and he hadn't spoken a word since lunch. He only clutched Remus' hand silently and took notes. McGonagall was completely shocked with the boy's behavior, stunned into silence at his perfect composure. When transfiguration ceased and McGonagall hustled from the room, the group of kids walked back to their house. Sirius clung to his boyfriend, nestling his forehead into the boys shoulder and remaining quiet. Remus scooped him up and carried him into the warmly lit common room, sitting him down on one of the plush couches. James walked up to his dorm to toss his things away, and Lily sat in an armchair to Remus' right, a book in hand. Peter was sitting in the corner, suspiciously glancing around the room as he scribbled in a leather bound notebook.
"GUYS!" James screamed, his voice the equivalent of a toddler on Christmas. "LOOK LOOK LOOK!" He yelled bounding down the stairs. He held a rather large grey tabby cat in his arms, the animal was thin and built nicely, with long whiskers and almost human eyes. Lily gasped and ran over to the boy.
"Awwwww! Aren't you the cutest thing in the whole world." She said scratching the cat behind the ears. The feline seemed to be grumpy, meowing loudly and flipping around.
"Maybe she wants to sit? Sirius wanna see her?" James asked.
Sirius nodded and kept close to Remus, holding out his hands and taking the cat with a meek smile.
"Can we keep it Lily!?" James asked hopping around.
"I don't know James-"
"Can we?" Sirius whispered gently petting the pretty feline. Lily was shocked. Sirius had seemed devastated, but if this cat made him feel better than-
"Oh alright fine. Only if we can name her Princess Leia from Star Wars." Lily said, crossing her arms.
"What the hell is Star Wars?" James asked.
"Muggle film." Remus said petting the cat and kissing Sirius' cheek.
"What was that for?" Sirius asked.
"I love you. Can't I kiss you randomly with no reason?" Remus asked, kissing his cheek again.
Sirius nodded and smiled, pulling Princess Leia closer to his chest.
The cat almost looked scared-or angry. James and Lily fought over who got to sleep with the cat, until they all decided that Sirius should get to sleep with her.
"But... why?" He asked.
"C'mon Pads. You've had a pretty shitty day. And she likes you most anyways." James said, kissing Lily goodnight and tromping up to the boys dorm. Sirius beamed and snuggled into bed.
"Aren't you going to go upstairs love?" Remus asked kissing his boyfriends hair.
"Can't we stay here?"
"No love. Let's go get ready for bed." Remus said lifting his sleepy boyfriend up and grabbing the cat to take upstairs.

Princess Leia watched as Sirius and Remus had their first fight in months behind spelled curtains. The curtains had silencing charms and sealing charms to keep people from snooping or waking.
"I WONT LET YOU GO BACK TO THAT HELL HOLE SIRIUS!" Remus growled.
"YOURE NOT MY FUCKING FATHER!" Sirius screamed.
"WELL NO SHIT! ILL KEEP YOU MYSELF IF I HAVE TO SHE'S NOT DRAGGING YOU BACK!"
The cat perked it's ears, sadness and confusion painted on her face.
"SHES NOT GONNA KILL ME MOONY! AND IF I DONT GO BACK ILL BE OUTCAST AND HAVE NO ONE!" The brunette shrieked.
"You can't think of anyone who'd care for you better than... than them?" Remus whispered, pain written on his face.
"What you mean you? Or James. Yeah that's rich." Sirius hissed. "Just get out. You've no right to tell me what to do. She didn't kill me-"
"Pads. She starved you. If you're outcast you'll always have James and I, and Lily, you'll never be alone, why can't you se-"
"I said get out." Sirius hissed shoving the boy towards the curtain.
"Please Sirius. You don't have to push me away-"
"GET OUT!" Sirius yelled jerking back the curtain and shoving the boy out. Remus leaned against the spelled fabric, the charm making it as hard as any wall.
Sirius sobbed, grabbing the cat up in his arms.
"I can't make him take care of me. I'm... I'm nothing. And I don't want him to have to have such an awful burden. He's already a werewolf, how awful would it be for him to have to take care of me. I couldn't ever do that to him, I just can't. If he loves me, I'll eventually hurt him. I just can't let myself do that Princess. You understand don't you?" Sirius cried softly, soaking the cats neck with tears. She didn't try to run, only meowed gently and snuggled into the boys arms. He sobbed for hours, eventually falling into a nightmare ridden sleep. He woke up screaming after less than an hour, and whimpered.
"I wish he were here." Sirius whispered. He sat up and went to open the curtains, walking out into the dark. He came back a few minutes in Remus' arms, clutching the boy's neck and sobbing.
"Shhh... pads I'm not mad. Sirius you don't need to cry I'm not mad at you. It's okay. It's okay darling." Remus whispered, laying Sirius down on the bed and crawling beside him. The cat looked at them sternly, as if telling them to get back to their beds.
"Oh hush Princess. I'm comforting my beautiful boyfriend." Remus said, grinning when Sirius buried his forehead against Remus' back, acting as a little spoon. The cat purred a sigh and curled up in a tiny ball. The curtain charm wore off and a warm breeze flew in through the window.

"WHY THE HELL IS SHE SO ANGRY!" James shrieked as Princess clawed at his arms, avoiding the tub of frosty water at all costs.
"Because you're trying to throw her into a pool of freezing water!" Lily yelled scooping up the cat. "Poor kitty. This is why he can't have children." She said with a laugh. The cat looked amused, meowing and hopping down onto the sink counter. Lily ran warm water, gently lowering the cat into the tiny tub.
"Whatever. That bloody cat is crazy." James grumbled leaving the bathroom.
"He's just jealous." Lily snickered to the cat. "Don't worry, I'll teach him how to treat a lady." She said gently lathering the feline's ears with soft soap. After rinsing Princess' fur out and drying her with a towel, the group walked out to go to class. Sirius refused grabbing Princess Leia and huddling on the couch in the uniform Remus had wrestled on him.
"C'mon baby. Bring the cat." Remus said smiling warmly. Sirius whimpered, but eventually stood, sitting the cat on his shoulder and walking out the narrow portrait entrance.
Lily and Remus broke off to go to Transfigurstion, while Sirius and James went to potions. Professor Dumbledore was teaching transfiguration saying that Minerva was busy.
Sideways glances fell on the cat, laughter in the halls became louder as more and more people saw the cat elegantly perched on Sirius' shoulders.
"Apparently poofs are cat whisperers now." Snickered Lucius Malfoy.
"Shut it Malfoy." James snarled. The cat hissed glaring at the blonde haired boy.
"Oh whatever Potter. Honestly why do you even hang out with him? Despite being a faggot the mommy issues are a real proble-"
James lunged forward, jerked back by Sirius' fist in his collar.
"It's not worth getting detention." Sirius said dragging James to Potions. They made a simple potion in class, and both Sirius and James were able to figure it out without cheating. Severus Snape had already finished his potion by the time slughorn finished talking, and had read a book the rest of class. James didn't understand how that kid could be so good with a damn cauldron.

When they returned to the dorms Sirius immediately drug Remus to the couch to snuggle. Princess lept down off of Sirius' shoulders scratching at the painting entrance.
"Should we let her go?" Lily asked. James nodded, so did Sirius.
"See you around Princess." Remus said with a smile, already kissing Sirius.
The cat ran from their dorms down the hall, and disappeared.

Sirius walked down the hall to McGonagalls office, swallowing the lump in his throat. She knew about his mother, and had called for him. He knocked on the door.
"Come in." Minerva said sternly.
"Uh-he-hello professor." Sirius said.
"Have a biscuit Black. We're going to be here a while." She said motioning to a tray of tea and scones.
•••
Minerva clicked down the halls, knocking loudly on the door to Dumbledores office.
"Albus..." she began. "You owe me five galleons." She said sitting down with a grin.
"You're sure not one of them knew it was you?" He asked raising a brow.
"Quite." She said.
"I had more faith in Miss Evans. Very well." He sighed passing money to a smirking McGonagall."

Lily shot up from her book. "WAIT A DAMN MINUTE!"
