Harry and Draco date for a while, but when the war comes Draco knows that he has to protect Harry so he obliviates the boy and changes all their love encounters to angry ones.

Draco sat with the gryffindors, laughing and eating amongst the trio he had become attached to.
They talked for a while, Draco holding his boyfriends hand under the table, before they slowly came to a halt, unable to fein their obliviousness any longer.
"If the death eaters get Draco...or Harry-" Hermione started sullenly.
"Please Hermione. Please don't bring it up." Harry whispered clutching his boyfriends hand.
"Ok Harry I'm sorry. It just seems so close and awful and I don't want to talk about it but it just fills my brain and pokes at me and-"
"It's quite alright Hermione. But I think we'd all rather pretend it wasn't happening." Draco said setting his fork down. Harry leaned his head against the blondes shoulder, sighing in contentment. A small owl flew through the window, carrying a bright red letter. The letter smacked down in front of Harry, and the brunette sighed and carefully began tearing the wax off the letter's back.
"Probably Vernon again." He mumbled.
"Will that dreadful man ever stop being such a douche?" Draco seethed.
The letter flipped the rest of the way open forming into a howler.
"YOU WILL DIE FAGGOT. THE DARK LORD WILL KILL YOU FOR RUINING ONE OF OUR OWN WITY YOUR TREACHEROUS MAGIC. YOU WILL BURN AMONGST-"
Draco jumped up from his seat and quickly set fire to the envelope, but the damage was already done. Harry quivered, clutching Draco's hand in a death grip.
"Harry-" Draco started quickly taking the boys face in his hands.
"I'm fine Draco. It's just a threat, I've had plenty of those. I don't care." The boy said, trying and failing to conceal his shaky breaths.
"Darling..." Draco began again. But Harry didn't bother to listen to the rest, rocking gently in his seat and staring off into space.
Draco made his decision then.

"Draco this is an awful idea. Please don't do this. It will hurt you more than you know." Hermione whispered, tears blurring her vision.
"She's right mate. I mean, it'll probably kill you."
"I can take it. This isn't about me. All I gotta do is make it seem like I never mattered, then he'll be able to kill Voldemort with nothing to hang over his head."
"But Draco, this is your life. Three years of love. Just gone-" Hermione snapped. "Like that."
Draco nodded, hiding his pain behind a practiced mask. He knew how to lie, especially to those he cared about.
"I know. But this is about taking care of him." Draco said walking from the library across the courtyard. Harry was standing over by the boulders where they shared their first kiss. Harry beamed and ran to him.
"Sooo?" Harry began. "Why'd you ask me here?" He giggled kissing Draco quickly.
"Turn around." Draco whispered, his mask cracking.
"Alrighty then." Harry said with a grin and a raised brow.
Hermione hid her sob in Ron's coat, muffling the noise so Harry wouldn't turn around.
"I love you Harry. More than anything." Draco whispered, his mask finally shattering, tears pouring down his face.
"I love you too?" Harry said towards the boulders, obviously confused.
"I'm sorry Harry. I love you." Draco was sobbing now.
"Draco what's going o-"
"Obliviate." Draco whispered, a small flash knocking Harry out. All their love replaced with hate, every memory altered to make a rivalry.
The blonde crumpled to his knees, painful sobs making his insides feel like they were turning inside out. He stumbled from the courtyard to the castle, away from Harry.

Harry woke on the courtyard Hermione- and Ron looming over him.
"Ugh." He groaned. "What happened?"
"You slid and hit your head! I told you not to run! But what do you and Ron do? Run." She seethed. Harry snickered. He didn't remember running and falling, but he was sure it had been funny, and his head didn't even hurt.
"It was bloody sick." Ron laughed. Hermione smacked his shoulder.
'Huh.' Harry thought. 'Wonder where the ferret is'
The trio went to dinner, Ron talked about "stupid bloody Malfoy" and Harry laughed and agreed, adding ammo to the argument over whether he was a pushover or just a plain dick.
"I mean seriously, the whole bathroom incident, his stupid remarks about buckbeak, he's just a pureblood douche bag." Harry said as they retired from dinner to the commons. Hermione wanted to cry, knowing that the bathroom "incident" had been the first time they made love, and the buckbeak problem had been their first kiss. She hated knowing that the memories had been replaced, could hardly look at the brunette without almost bursting into tears.
Harry slept soundly, only occasionally woken by a nightmare.
Hermione and Ron slept restlessly, waking blankly every few minutes to think about what Draco had done to save Harry.
Draco conjured himself a drug to knock him out cold, knowing full well the nightmares would be too bad without it.
•••
Morning came round and Draco felt like dying rather than facing the day ahead.
Ron and Hermione felt like crying, or confessing, or both.
Harry felt like eating, his rumbling stomach encouraging him to get dressed.
The trio got seated at their usual spot and both boys immediately began fixing their plates.
"Wait where is Dr-" Hermione started, Ron kicked her under the table, coughing and bringing up quidditch to cover up her mistake.
•••
After breakfast they went to potions where Harry was paired with Malfoy. He rolled his eyes and slammed into the chair by the blonde jerk, grumbling something about Snape's idiot brain for putting them together. Draco was stiff, ignoring Harry unless the brunette directly spoke to him.
"What the hell is your problem Malfoy? You think I wanna do this any more than you do? Let's just get it over with." Harry hissed chopping up the pickled mandrake root and tossing it into the cauldron.
•••
The rest of the day flashed by for Draco. It was funny really, when you feel dead, the world tends to pass by before your eyes.
Harry's day was filled with hectic note taking and dodging weird looks in the halls.
•••
The next day was truly awful. Draco had to actually pretend to be a jerk.
"Sod off Potter." Draco sneered as Harry ran into him in the halls. His heart felt as though it was shattering.
Harry rolled his eyes and continued down the halls with Ron and Hermione in tow.
•••
The following week was that of a war. The events consisted of Voldemort's demise, and Draco's redemption. Harry didn't buy it, he was sure Draco was still evil, even if he did save him. It could've been for show.
•••
The week after that Harry decided he had enough and slammed Draco against the closet wall.
"The hell is your problem Potter!?" Draco snarled. He could've easily overpowered Harry, but he just didn't have the will to cause so much as a scratch to the boy.
"My problem-"
"Draco." Hermione cut in. "The wars over. You can show him." She whispered.
"The fuck are you talking about 'Mione?" Harry mumbled, confused as to why she used Malfoy's first name, and what he could show him.
"Show him Draco." Hermione said.
"Somebody tell me what the fuck is going on or I'm going to go crazy!" Harry yelled. Draco raised his wand to Harry head, raising the obliviate spell from his boyfriend.
Harry gasped. Memory after memory came back.
He hadn't fought Draco in the bathroom, he had gasped as Draco slid inside him for the first time.
Hermione didn't punch Draco over buckbeak, Harry and Draco shared their first kiss there.
The book store, they went shopping there together.
Kisses and love and admiration filled up his mind, and Draco waited.
"Oh my god." Harry choked. "DRACO!" He sobbed lunging into the blondes arms. Draco choked out a sob of his own, burying his head in the unruly ravens nest that he loved so much.
"But why? Why would you obliviate me?" Harry cried softly, still clinging to Draco.
"I couldn't have anything slowing you, couldn't let any obstacles stop you from killing Voldemort. So I was the bad guy. For some time." He whispered kissing Harry's neck, ears, shoulders, cheeks, chin, eye lids, lips. "And it almost killed me. But it was worth it." Draco whispered.
Harry smiled warmly, kissing Draco and clutching him close. He wouldn't let any more memories be taken from him, he'd make new ones. Starting with that bathroom...
