They were driving down the highway listening to music and looking at the cliffs, farmhouses, old abandoned houses, cows, fences, houses on the edge of hills, old small towns and old gas stations that were still functional.
They kept driving and finally came to an old gas station to fill up. They both got out and went inside the store to use the restroom. Bought a few snacks and went back on the road. When they arrived, they arrived at the police station.
"What are we doing here?" asked Peter.
"Well both couples work here," smiled Ms. Shelly.
"Hold the phone, so you are saying both my parents are in law enforcement," Peter said with excitement.
"Yes, they are," said Shelly getting out of the car.
"Cool," said Peter.
So they walked inside, he saw a lot of Indian artifacts on the walls.
"Wow look at all this stuff," amazed Peter.
"Pretty cool huh," said Ms. Shelly.
"Yeah it is," said Peter.
"Hey look that must be the boy Mr. Walker was telling us about, come on let's make him feel at home," said Jason Two Toes.
"Yeah, let's welcome him back home, I knew his birth parents," said Jesse Three Bears.
"You did?" asked Jason.
"Yes, good people, just weren't ready to rais a child," said Jesse Three Bears.
"Come on," said Jason.
So Jason and Jesse walked over to where Ms. Shelly and Peter were sitting.
"Hello, I'm Jason Two Toes and this is my partner Jesse Three Bears.
"Hello I'm Ms. Shelly and this is Peter Wolf.
"We heard about you a lot, welcome home," said Jason.
"Thank you, I can't wait to meet the couple that adopted me," smiled Peter.
"You will," said Jason.
"Why don't we show you around," said Jesse.
"That would be fine, is that okay Ms. Shelly?" asked Peter.
"Yes that is fine, I'll stay here and gather all the paperwork," smiled Ms. Shelly.
So the guys showed Peter around. A traditional Native American Indian was getting some coffee.
"Hey Eagle Bear, I want you to meet Peter Wolf," said Jason.
"Ah, my nephew has told me about you," said Eagle Bear.
"Your nephew?" asked Peter.
"Yes, Mr. Walker and his wife are the ones that adopted you," said Eagle Bear.
"Wow grateful for them, I'm excited, I can't wait to meet them," smiled Peter.
"They can't wait to meet you either," smiled Eagle Bear.
"Yeah we are just showing the kid around," said Jesse.
"That's nice, we can go sit in the seating area and talk until Mr. Walker gets in from out in the field, and his wife gets out of court," said Eagle Bear.
"Okay, thank you for showing me around the place," said Peter.
"Your welcome," said Jason.
So they went to the seating area and sat down and just started talking about things. Then Mr. Walker comes walking in with his cowboy hat on and jeans and boots, he had a sheriff's badge on his button-up shirt.
"Walker over here," said Jesse.
Walker looks over and smiles.
"Walker, this is Peter," smiled Ms. Shelly.
"Hello Peter, welcome, I can't wait for my wife to meet you," smiled Mr. Walker.
"It's nice to meet you to sir," said Peter.
They all sat down and talked some more. Then the courtroom door opened up and people started walking out, Mrs. Karen was the last one out. She looked up from her papers and saw Peter. She smiled and walked over, her tears started to flow down her face.
"Welcome it's so nice to finally meet you, we've been waiting a long time for this," smiled Mrs. Karen.
"Me too, actually my whole life I've been waiting," smiled Peter.
"Well I have a few paperwork for you both to fill out then I'll be on my way," said Ms. Shelly gathering up the paperwork.
So they started filling out paperwork.
"Hey uncle, why don't you take Peter to his new home, I'll ride with Mrs. Karen.
"Okay, come on Peter," said Eagle Bear.
So they grabbed his backpack and smiled and hugged Ms. Shelly and went with Eagle Bear.
"Good luck kiddo," smiled Ms. Shelly.
"I'll unload your car Ms. Shelly and put his stuff in my wife's car," said Mr. Walker.
So Mr. Walker was loading his wife's car with Peter's belongings. Eagle Bear was driving Peter to Mr. Walker's place.
"Wow he lives here, this house is huge, look at all the horses, green grass and a white fence and a barn," said Peter with excitement.
"Yes, I'll be glad to show you around," smiled Eagle Bear.
They pulled up to the driveway and got out of the truck.
"Come on I'll show you the house and you're room," smiled Eagle Bear.
So they walked in, it was western-themed, almost like taking a step back in time.
"Wow this place is amazing, are those real arrows and a bow, wow and a real headdress?" asked Peter.
"Yes, those are mine, my father gave it to me, his father lived in the eighteen hundreds and it was passed down from generation to generation," said Eagle Bear.
"That is so cool," Peter just starring at the headdress.
"Yeah, come on I'll show you outside," smiled Eagle Bear.
"This is my favorite spot to just sit and gather my thoughts," said Eagle Bear.
"Cool a real tipi," said Peter.
"Go on in," smiled Eagle Bear.
When he stepped in, there was a fire pit, buffalo skin on the ground to sit on, stuff hanging from above the tipi, pouches hanging from above as well. Buffalo hide hanging with drawings on it. Peter looked all around the tipi in amazement.
"Eagle Bear this..." Eagle Bear was no there.
"Strange," said Peter looking around.
So he started walking around the property and came across the barn, he saw that it was empty and then herd hoof sounds. So he walked towards the carrel and saw the horses. They were just standing and eating the grass. A baby horse came and walked towards Peter and stuck his head out of the fence.
"Awww hey, little pony, curious aren't you little fellow," Peter petting the colt.
Eagle Bear was watching Peter out the kitchen window. Eagle Bear saw the wild paint horse run and kick, and he stopped and stared at Peter while he was petting the baby horse. Eagle Bear was still watching the paint staring at Peter for a long time. The baby horse walked away and went to its mother and looked up and saw the paint horse staring at him.
"So what is your story," Peter looking deep into the horse's eyes.
