10. The things she saw

"In an old farmer house on border of nobles property. We are sorry about our house, but I didn't see any other way than to bring you here." Anna sat next to him and pushed a broken clay bowl she found in this place before arriving.

Showing him real stuff they used might handle them bunch of trouble.

He took the old bowl, but saw that they were clean and even this room as well. "Your parents?"

"We have none. We traveled around for a long time and found this place. Fortunately no one lived here. I plan going to nearby noble's house to ask for this cottage and a bit land to rent." But just as she said that she got stunned by his yell.

"Noooo, you can't!"

She almost started laughing at his theatrical expression. Did she really enter an old English noble house?

His accent was like the one from Shakespeare plays her mother loved watching.

O boy... her southerner accent will be a problem then.

He saw their stunned expression and realized that they had no idea what just happened. He must go and meet the King.

"You... don't go there these days. The river broke the bridge and it will take around one month to get repaired." He straightened his back and felt pain on his back.

Michelle and Alice rolled their eyes as they saw him acting like he was deadly wounded.

Anna Gale couldn't look at him and pointed at his clothes. "I will go up and prepare clothes for you to change. By the way, that leather west saved your life, literally."

He proudly rose his head. "This is my new invention. It can save lives. But still, the arrow passed."

She nodded and took the arrow that was nearby. "Normal arrow won't be able to penetrate trough that armor, but these will be able. You just got lucky. Anyway, as soon you change clothes go. If there is someone hunting you, he might come and harm us as well if they find you here."

He agreed. "I agree, but I need to find my horse."

Anna Gale suddenly remembered the map and pointed at the forest. "I saw it running that way and stopping not far from the stone circle."

The same stone circle they came out from.

How intresting...

He wanted to get out but she stopped him. "You can't go this wet and make your... wound... worse."

Her lips curled up as she stiffled her laughter and turned around while he missunderstood and thought that it was bad. It probably looks bad.

It hurts like hell.

But he will not bow to this pain and will find the King. He must hurry.

"I'll give you my father's clothes."

Anna knew that this boy won't be able to wear it properly as her father was big and tall guy. This boy just stepped into teenage years and could be said that he would as barely lanky.

Anyway, she has no plan sending right him out right now as it was literally pouring buckets.

She went up and cleaned the beddings, then took out pants, warm shirt and shoes her mother used when she wanted to walk a lot.

In their world the women wore male clothes and sturdy shoes when traveling or hiking.

Their father was crazy about outdoor activities and always regretted having girls as he couldn't take them with him to hunt.

There was a big warm jacket he forgot and she went down. "Go up and wear warm clothes. I will bring the horse near house. The rain is pouring and you can't travel no matter what."

He had to agree as he heard heavy thunder hitting outside. He went up and saw the clothes neatly put onto clean ground and was amazed by the softness of the materials.

The bedding was no worse than his own and his eyes flashed as he glanced down.

The door opened up and she left to get the horse.

" Map."

Map opened up and she saw the horse rider going back to the estate and the woman and the girl packing bunch of boxes into their carriage.

Her eyes became colder.

Soon the man came to the carriage and just entered inside. The woman and the girl went inside as well and they left leaving behind them whole bunch of dead people sprawled all over the estate.

The horse grazed nearby and she took him back home.

Strangely she never was afraid of animals. Even as small child she had no fear of animals and loved going hiking as she could see so many of them.

Unfortunately her father took her only twice with him as he found it bothersome to walk with females.

With a sigh she came inside, drenched like a field mouse and left again a whole trail of water behind her. This time she gave up and left the jacket outside to drip as the wind turned and rain fell from the other side.

Near the door was as it seems sturdy hanging nail and she just hung he heavy jacket there and unloaded her rain boots of the rain and left outside now.

They were so muddy that she had to clean them first.

She came inside completely wet and sneezed.

With a pout she glared at the young man. "Great, now I'll get sick. The rain is going slower and the clouds are pushed by the wind towards the big river. In a bit it will be gone."

Just as he wanted to say something a growl could be heard from his stomach.

Anna Gale already had food prepared so she just warmed a bit up in smaller pot and gave him in the broken bowl.

Luckily her pots looked ancient as her mother has such a preference to ancient things so he didn't see anything wrong in it.

Just the metal spoon made him wonder.

"Where did you get this?"

Just that question made her be cautious...
