"The mission is currently classified as rank C and you will be exorcising the ghost type identified as a Poltergeist in the abandoned manor of the Taylors family.
"As Poltergeists are often confined in their location, you can escape if it proves to be too difficult for you." Old Man Shigeru glanced at him with a light smile as they leaned back against their office chair, "What do you think, Asahi? It's not a bad assignment for your first solo mission."
He looked at them in disbelief, "You're finally going to give me a solo mission, old man?"
Shigeru would rub his beard for a moment before shrugging, "Well, I think you're ready for it."
"Then I will—" He winced as a hand clapped him on the shoulder. Glancing behind him would show the perpetrator that was his older brother. The older man had just stepped into the Yamagami Office. "What gives?"
Ryuusei's brows furrowed at him, "Well, hello to you too." He sighed at him before gazing at the man seated at his desk, "Father, are you sure that you'll entrust this with Asahi alone? Doesn't it seem a little too early?"
His eye twitched at their words, "Ryuusei, I'm seventeen! Don't treat me like some kid, you took your first solo mission when you were twelve!"
It wasn't a good comparison at all, his brother turned out to be a natural prodigy as an Exorcist but he wouldn't listen to reason this time. His father thought that he was ready now and he wouldn't miss this chance to prove them right.
That was until somebody else decided to speak up.
"Well that's because it's Ryuusei who took it, you should be a little more wary than this, Asahi." A voice came from behind them. Somehow stepped into the office with a more disappointed look on her face.
How long were these people going to keep him stuck at their place? Asahi clicked his tongue,"Hanako, you took your first solo mission when you were fourteen."
"I don't see the problem with that." The young woman shrugged, "But dinner is finally done by the way."
She was the same age as he was and ended up taking her mission three years earlier than him. He couldn't understand it at all on why they wanted him to stop—or he refused to listen to them. The old man was already giving him a go signal so why were they trying to stop him still?
Old Man Shigeru perked up, "Ah, beef skewers tonight right, thanks Hanako?"
Asahi tried not to be too disappointed that their old man would suddenly get too distracted with their dinner instead of trying to defend his position as the mission giver. Haven't they been the one who trusted him for this task and not anybody else?
"Come on, Daichi still hasn't taken his first solo mission either." Ryuusei pointed out.
Asahi rolled his eyes, "The guy prefers to stay here and research than do outside missions. Seriously, let me do the mission you two. It won't be that hard, I'll be done in a flash."
"...Alright, that sounds fair enough." Ryuusei said at last and scratched his cheek, "My apologies for worrying, your constitution worries me but I'm sure a Poltergeist? And it's Class C?"
"I still don't like the idea." Hanako crossed her arms over her chest, "But if you guys really do think that he's ready for this. Then I suppose I'll have to give in?"
Old Man Shigeru gave a nod, "When worse comes to worse, you'll be able to use this." The old man would take something out of his drawer and tossed it to Asahi. "I call it the Exor-Watch. It has a built in communication device along with its other features that will prove useful for the mission."
Asahi's eyes widened as he caught the piece of equipment in his hand, the name wasn't exactly cool—he doubted that his father designed it and just called it that way, but this was something that Ryuusei and the other full-pledged Exorcists already had.
Speaking of which, both Ryuusei and Hanako quickly gave in to his complaint and even apologized to him… it was already suspicious. He glanced at the two of them and frowned, "Promise me that neither of you are going to tail me. I'll be able to do this on my own, you guys just have to trust in me."
"Of course not, I just cooked dinner." Hanako gave him a frown, "I'll be more concerned with eating right now."
Ryuusei chimed in, "And I'm on dishwashing duty so I'll be busy as well."
Asahi narrowed his eyes at them until their father finally intervened with a cough, "Alright, the three of you aren't little kids anymore." Shigeru wiped a non-existent tear, "I still remember the time when I still had to change Asahi's diap—"
"We don't talk about that here!"
Their old man sighed and scratched the back of his head, "Neither of them are going to disturb you unless you call for help or the distress signal in Exor-Watch activates it on its own."
He was quick to place the strap around his wrist and watch the gadget turn on to life with an azure blue glow. It was something akin to a cartoon that he had watched when he was younger—and as the AI System came to life, he grinned as the words displayed itself in holographic form.
