Alfred tried to focus on that faint connection and suddenly faint connection got stronger. He noticed that although the connection now was stable, there was no reply from the other side. He tried to send some thought to communicate, he still got no reply. It was as if other party was dormant.
"Hay system, what's going on?"
[Host, you are trying to connect with the wind eagle using a type of mind link. According the data, this kind of mind link connects host's mind directly with mind of wind eagle, which enables you to communicate with it using sound transmissions.]
"I understand that, but why didn't I get any reply when I tried to contact the eagle just now?"
[Host don't be impatient. It appears that the wind eagle has fallen into some kind of coma like state and will take some time to wake up.]
"Is it permanent?" Alfred asked being a little bit worried.
[From the data the system is receiving, no.] The system replied. [In fact, it appears the wind eagle cells are currently going through some kind of mutations. Not only the eagle's old injuries are getting repaired. On the contrary, it might evolve in a Level 3 beast soon.]
"Is it certain it will evolve?"
[It depends upon the eagle's luck. But at the very least, it will reach the peak of the Level 2 it seems.]
"Good, but make sure to keep it under control."
[Understood host.]
In the real world, Nathen was starting to get worried. After all, it had been more than an hour since Alfred had stood like a statue while touching the beast's forehead. The only saving grace was that from the moment Alfred had touched the eagle, the beast too had frozen like a statue. It was as if was of them froze in time. Since then Nathen had not stopped worrying.
But as the loyal knight he is, he decided to wait for his lord to open his on his own.
Time passed, and Alfred wrapped up his extra long appointment with the system. One by one after he was finished all the things he had to do; Alfred opened his eyes.
"My Lord." Nathan saluted at once.
"Sorry, for making you wait." Alfred apologised. "It took me some time to wrap up things here."
"The lord may take as long he wants to do what he need." Nathen said with a straight face. "It is my great honour to stand guard for my lord. Even if I have to stand here for the end of times, I shall not back down from my duty."
Listening to Nathen's words Alfred sighed. Although Alfred did not quite agree with it, this is the medieval era. The concept of the lord and his knight were the main stream culture of this era.
Noticing the wired gaze with Alfred was looking at him, Nathen frowned.
"My lord, did I say something wrong?" Nathen asked in a concerned tone.
"No, it's nothing. I was just thinking if something had happened when we were busy here." Alfred lied.
"Rest assured my lord, if there was a beast attack outside, we would be surely informed." Nathen said to Alfred.
Alfred nodded.
"My lord, can I ask you a question?" Nathen asked hesitantly.
"Go on. Ask me." Alfred did not think much.
"Did you find out what you came for?" Nathen asked. "Did you find out what is the Eagle, weakness?"
"Sure, did Nathen. Follow me I'll tell you all about in the way." Alfred said walking of the eagle's cage.
Both of them left the underground dungeon and made their way to the surface. Along the way Alfred was ones again fascinated by the little glow stones lighting the way. Alfred could not help and ones again compare them with light bulbs from his previous world. After all the look too much similar.
"So that why it felt a little too easy when I captured that wind eagle." Nathen exclaimed in realization. "It was night blind. Come to think of it, it should have guessed something was up when it did not try to escape when I was chasing it."
"Yes, what you said was correct. The surprise played a big factor in the eagle's capture." Alfred said. "But it was not all. In the end of the day you were able to capture it because you were strong enough yourself. If you were weak, I doubt you would even survive"
Nathen show his consent with what Alfred said. Strength was the foremost requirement when fighting anyone. If oneself is strong enough, he or she will be able to fae any kind of problem easily.
After coming out of underground dungeon, Alfred and Nathen noticed that the sun had already set outside and it was currently night.
"My lord, it appears we had lost track of time when we were in the dungeon." Nathen said.
"It appears we did." Alfred said starching his arms. "Well I do am feeling a bit tiered. I think it's better for me to rest early today. Tell Agnes to send my food to my room. I want eat alone today."
(A/N - From this chapter fourth Natale will be Agnes. Due to some problem I have decided to change the name. _ Frost Dragon)
"As you wish my lord." Nathen replied.
"And yes, tell the vessels to gather in the open field of the fortress in the morning. Tell them not to be late." Alfred added.
Nathen nodded his head indicating that he understood.
"Good. You are dismissed."
Nathen saluted Alfred and then left.
As for Alfred, by following the directions from Alef's memories, he could easily find his room now.
"It looks like the system was not kidding when it said it was integrating all my memories. It appears it had finished analysing all the fragments of Alfe's memories, as it is now easy to recall a lot of things just by thinking about them a little." Alfred thought.
Following the directions in his mind, Alfred reached his room. Noticing that he was all alone, Alfred gave a sigh of relief. After all he was still unaccustomed to someone tending to him ever time and preferred to do things himself.
Soon Alfred took off his fur armor and changed into casual clothes.
'Knock, knock'
Just as Alfred was finished changing, a light knock sounded on his door.
"Who is it?" Alfred asked getting tense.
"Young master, it's me Agnes." A feminine voice from the other side of the door. "I have brought your food into your room as you ordered."
Listening the sweet voice of the familiar maid from the morning, Alfred relaxed.
"Come in." Alfred gave her permission.
The pink haired maid, Agnes enter Alfred's room holding in her hand some white bread and a bowl of soup.
"Young master, good news, after listening that you are injured the cook has made some of your favourite chicken soup today." Agnes said charmingly.
"Then pass on my thanks to the cook." Alfred said looking at his food.
Alfred was not much surprised, when he noticed lack of diversity in food. Bread was the staple food of many in medieval era. From the king to even the poor everyone is accustomed to eating bread. The only difference was that the rich and the aristocrats ate breads made of pure wheat while the poor had to par take bread which were mixed with saw dust and other similar things.
While the vegetables were available to the common people, meat was not. Meat in medieval was more expensive and therefore more prestigious. It was meant to be consumed by only the rich and those Nobel born.
Chicken was fairly common but that was only among nobility and was served all year round. But this was northern lands.
Looking at his food Alfred sighed.
"Well I should be thankful to god that I am Nobel in this life. At least am not staving and have food to eat in this life." Alfred thought.
"Young master, is there a problem in the food?" Agnes asked in a concerned voice. "Should I ask the cook to replace the young master's food?"
Alfred shook his head.
"No need, the food appears ok. I was just thinking if you have eaten or not." Alfred lied.
Agnes blushed.
"Thank you, young master for your concern." Agnes said shyly. "I have already eaten my supper."
"Then keep that in the side." Alfred said while nodding. "I need you to fetch some things from my study. Can you do it?"
Agnes nodded.
"Good, get me some paper, some ink and my personal seal from the study. Can you do it?" Alfred asked.
Agnes though for a minute, then nodded. "As you wish young master."
Agnes left Alfred's room and ran towards his study. She soon came back with holding the things that Alfred asked her to bring.
"Thank you, Agnes, can you wait for a minute, I need you to do one more thing before we are done here." Alfred asked.
"Anything for young master." Agnes said shyly.
"Good" Alfred nodded.
He then took the things from Agnes' hand and started to write a letter.
"Find a fast rider and send this letter to Old Stanley in the castle. He will know what to do next." Alfred said handing her a letter.
Taking the letter from Alfred's hand, Agnes first nodded then left the room.
Alfred on the other hand, ate his meal in peace and then fell asleep soundly.
