Ancestral Protector Beast of the Autarch family?

The battle that transpired in air was quite shocking to all its onlookers. Even Alfred was no exception. He could not stop himself from looking to the sky, watching the storm eagle flying in circles holding the dead python in its claws. For him the scene no less jaw dropping that it was for others.

"System is it really the eagle we met previously?" Alfred asked for confirmation.

[Affirmative, host. It is the same eagle we met previously.] The system replied.

"You sure?" Alfred asked again.

[System is never wrong.] The system said confidently.

"But was not it smaller that time? Why is it larger now? And I thought it was a level two wind eagle. How can it defeat a level three python now?"

[Host system had stated before that there was a chance that the wing eagle might evolve to a level three beast during the taming process. Looks like the eagle's luck was good and it was able to win the jackpot.] System said.

"Yes, looks like it has become quite strong after the procedure." Alfred said in conformation. "By the way system, aside from all the power up, you said that the eagle was now tame. Does that mean I can control it now? Will it listen to my order and do what I say?"

[To a certain extent, yes. The eagle is not a mindless robot. It is a living breathing thing that has his own mind. Even if it is bird brained, it still has its own personality. All system did was connected it consciousness to the host and made its mind able to understand host's orders. It is essentially now like a pet. Treat it good, it will listen to you. Treat it bad it might just turn against you.] System explained.

"Ok, I understand that now. But tell me how can I make it follow my orders? You know, should I yell at the top of my lungs or should I wait for it come down on its own?" Alfred asked.

[Host remember another faint connection you felt in your mind after the taming process, concentrate on that connection. First try to establish a link with the eagle. Then try sending your thoughts through it. If host does according to what system had said, then host should be able to communicate with ease.] The system suggested.

"Let's see if what you said was true."

Alfred closed his eyes, and tried to find the faint connection in his subconscious.

"Here you are." After a bit of searching his own mind, Alfred found what he was looking for. How could he find it? Aside from system, it was the foreign entity in his mind. Not only that, the -previously faint and weak connection that was easy to dismiss had somehow started a bit and appeared more stable than ever. If previously the connection was like a fading spark then it is now comparable to small flame.

Alfred concentrated on that small flame in his mind. Then the miracle happened. It was as if two sets of antennas had made a connection and formed a stable communication path way between them. Alfred knew he had succeeded in the most important step. He was able form a mind like as the system had described. But Alfred soon supressed his excitement, he knew it was not the time to be happy. He still had to see if he can truly control the storm eagle or not.

Just as Alfred had establish a connection with the storm eagle, which was flying majestically in the sky, changed its course and tossed the large python corpse in the ground and landed next to it.

"Everyone back to your formations. Prepare to fight." Rudolf yelled suddenly. He thought that the eagle was going to attack. And under such circumstances, Rudolf had chosen but to be fight to the bitter end. Even if he was going to die, he was going to die while fighting the eagle.

Serfs on the other hand, were scared and had lost any semblance of discipline and unity they had before. Many dropped their weapons and kneeled in the ground. While others huddled together in fear. In matter of minutes, the situation became chaotic. The previously arranged neat formations now were nowhere to be seen.

As for Alfred's knights? They have long surrounded Alfred in a neat formation from all sides and were waiting for a chance to break through. Nathen on the other had taken out his sword and was ready to pounce at the eagle the moment he found a weak point.

He was now regretting not killing the eagle previously when he had the chance. Back then, if he had finished the eagle in stand of capturing it all this might not have happened. Sure, the eagle took care of the giant python for them. But from the looks of it too wanted to attack them now.

Just as the situation was turning unsalvageable, Alfred yelled at the top of his lunges.

"Everyone stop." Alfred started shouting.

Soon, Alfred's loud shouting attracted everyone's attention.

Noticing that almost everyone was paying attention to him, Alfred said loudly. "Everyone please calm down. There is nothing to fear. The situation is under control."

After listening to what Alfred had to say, everyone thought that he had gone crazy from so much shock. Can't the lord see the big menacing eagle standing next to the corpse of the menacing looking dead python? Doesn't the lord think we will be next to be killed by the eagle? The only reasonable explanation for what lord said was because he had become insane.

Although everyone wanted to sympathies with Alfred's supposed mental break down, but they were currently busy thinking about saving their own hide.

Looking at everyone's face, Alfred knew that no one was believing him.

"Everyone calm down first. There is nothing to worry about. The eagle is on out side." Alfred said to the worried crowed.

"My lord, now is not the time for such things. We will talk about this after you escape to safety. You need to hold yourself together till then." Nathen interrupted Alfred. He had enough of Alfred of risk taking. First the underground dungeon then on the walls. He could worry so much before something happens.

And if something does happen, he did not know he could forgive himself them. He had already screwed up ones already, he had no plan to repeat that mistake now. He was determined to get Alfred to safety above all else, no matter how much Alfred protests.

Just as he was about to continue his rebuking Alfred, Nathen saw Alfred was looking at him with stern eyes. It was if he was saying 'try saying another word and see what I will do with you.'

Nathen instantly swallowed the words that was going come out of his mouth.

"As I was saying," Alfred continued to look at the crowed. "There is no need to worry. This eagle is the ancestral beast protector of the Autarch family. It is in our side. There is no need to fear the eagle. On the contrary we should be grateful to it for saving us from the level three python."

Alfred made up a story. After all he could not tell anyone about the system nor he wanted to make up a complicated lie to tell everyone. So, he made up a simple story to fool the serfs first.

Listening to Alfred's words the serfs calm down a little. But they were still on there full alert.

"As everyone heard me say, this is a level three storm eagle ancestral protector beast of the Autarch family. The founder of my Autarch family, Lord Autarch found the eagle when it just was just an egg. After it hatched, lord Autarch had raised it from eaglet till it was an adult. After founder's death, to repay the gratitude of the founder for raising it, the eagle had become the my Autarch family's ancestral protector beast."

The serfs started to believe Alfred more and more but still many held on to their doubts.

"Some of you may ask, if there was such ancestral beast, why did it not show up all these years? Why Autarch family had to rely on you guys when, when we had such an ancestral beast? The answer is simple, it was recuperating. It was injured while fighting another level three beast during my great grandfather's time and was sleeping in the deepest part all this fortress to recover quickly. Although it took a little longer than everyone had expected, today I am very happy that it had returned." Alfred continued to make up stories.

Now nearly every serf believed what Alfred was saying. Those very little that still held a shred of doubt, did not want to come forward and challenge the lord's word. After all, for the people of this era, nobles' word was same as god's gospel. Which no one can refute.
