The Only Witness

"So, don't be scared now and don't regret your decisions. Your father won't hurt you. I promise you that." She said as she got Jake's hand and held it tightly.

Kieffer looked at Penelope and signaled her to leave the two alone. Penelope nodded at him and silently pointed Tyler. Kieffer was about to talk to him but Tyler suddenly walked out. The two of them looked at each other and shrugged, then they both left Lanie and Jake alone.

"You can now open your eyes. They left." she uttered and let go of his hands.

Jake slowly opened his eyes and went up. Lanie stood up to get tissues and gave it to him then, she sat on the hospital bed.

"I know you would find me. Thank you." He said sincerely. Lanie only nodded and smiled at him.

"What you said earlier…." he trailed off.

"It was true. I'm not putting a show for them to leave us here." She said. Jake bit his lip and lowered his head before he nodded at her.
