The Only Witness

"Where were you?" Lanie asked curiously when Tyler entered the house. Lanie just went out of the kitchen.

"You're back." Tyler said as he went to her and got the glass of water on her hand. "How was your tour?" he asked as they sat down on the couch. Lanie was looking at him weirdly while he was looking at her innocently.

"It was fine." she answered as she raised her eyebrows on him. Tyler nodded at her after he drank water.

"Can we talk now? It looks like you have a lot of things you need to explain to me." she said as she crossed her arms ready to listen to him. Tyler put down the glass on the table in front of them and faced her.

"You met him yesterday? Jake." Tyler asked. He was starting the conversation there. Lanie expected it. Based on his reactions when he saw Jake earlier, she knew he was going to talk about him.

"Yes. Like I said, Kevin introduced him to me." she answered honestly. Tyler licked his lips as he nodded.
