Chapter 39

Crystal was not only doing patrol around the island but also spend some of her time looking for injured creatures trying to find shelter. She was riding Nylla who was a faster and stronger where and in her opinion ideal for long-distance patrols.

She was making her rounds around the shore close to the volcano in that Drake now called his home when she spotted very unusual ships and a closer inspection revealed that they were not just any ship they were from Borus.

Crystal noticed her so-called father flying in the distance and decided to return to the valley in hope that they will not be discovered just yet.

She landed and took her team into hiding where they stayed for most of the day and only came out that night only to discover that the group passed the valley without noticing anything.

"I hope Prince Leon is all right?" Crystal said as she and Nylla prepared to take a look at the valley's borders once more.

"I dislike your father," Nylla said. "Nylla she can't help that man is her father," Starmist said. "I know but a man something about him is off," Nylla said. Crystal looked worried at the direction the ships was travelling and changed her mind on doing patrol work.

"Nylla were going to find Prince Leon and warn him of the ships," Crystal said. "Why, would we do that Crystal?" Nylla said. "Prince Leon has done so much for us I can't let them be ambushed," Crystal said.

Crystal left Starmist in charge and took off hoping she didn't make a mistake. Nylla flew at speeds most dragons could only dream of matching and they took another route hoping they wouldn't run into her father before they find the prince who had only left that morning for a meeting with his father.

Nylla didn't even have to approach the castle when she landed having spotted her mate Furry. "I see you miss me too much?" he said. "No, I thought I should let you know the ships from Borus passed the valley this afternoon. My father is with them, we didn't what them to know of the valley so we kept hidden but be careful they are potential allies with the dark dragons and I don't like the way those ships looked," Crystal told Furry.

"Where are they now?" Furry asked. "Were not sure, we flew another way. That man is skilled, he would've spotted us we didn't want to risk it?" Nylla said.

"We have to get back to patrolling the valley, I need to find out if we were discovered," Crystal told Furry.

Crystal and Nylla returned to the valley and carefully checked all the entrances and exits to the valley but soon found a problem. At first, she wasn't sure what she saw but carefully approaching in the early hours of the morning Crystal found a really weak elder dragon. She was a beautiful dragon her scales was a royal blue and her eyes almost that of a sapphire.

Crystal brought the dragon home but her efforts to help the dragon didn't work. The dragon elder died and no one was expecting the death of a single dragon to affect so many dragon elders and ancient dragon elders.

Nylla used her powers to summon the dancing lights of the aurora and in a dance of flame's and the roars of many dragons alike, it became known to all far and wide that and the elder had died.

Crystal found herself crying into Starmist main who has lowered her head in respect to the fallen elder dragon. Many creatures and dragon arrived to pay their respects to the fallen dragon elder.

Prince Leon arrived on Furry who saw the lights in the sky and with him was many other elder and dragon who came to pay their respect. The prince came over to Crystal and asked her, "what happened to her?" Crystal looked at him and said, "I found her in the water checking the valley for intruders, Borus they left her to die if only I was stronger she might still be alive. She was still alive when I found her but it was too late," Crystal said.

Everyone in the valley could feel the death of a dragon elder from far and wide and for the first time in a long time, Crystal heard even more dragons approaching. Crystal looked into the sky and realised its the ancient rainbow dragon elder and with her was the ancient dragon's both known to the world and unknown to the world.

She landed and lowered her head to take a better look at the fallen elder dragon. "Its Saphire one of the legendary dragon that protected Callion in the great war," she said.

Crystal realised she had to calm Nylla down who was now glowing in anger. "This is that man's fault," she said but Crystal closed her eyes and spoke, "I ask the power of the forest and the power of the sacred flame come to my aid and calm down this dragons rage," Crystal said. Crystal herself started glowing and as she combined the two elements she touched Nylla who lowered her head to her rider and Crystal said, "I know, we're all angry and we are all looking for justice but burning down the valley now wouldn't be worth it," Crystal said.

The prince got hold of Crystal just before her head hid a rock and looked around for help. Sophie came running and took a look at Crystal and told the prince. "She used to much power but I think she will be okay. I suspected it would happen at some point," Sophie said as she gave Crystal some medicine.

The prince took Crystal to the cave and laid her down on some straw and covered her in a blanket. Sophie started to take care of Crystal and guarding close by was Starmist and Nylla.

"What happened here brother?" came a voice who stopped walking when he saw Crystal and the number of dragons around him. Prince Leon looked at his brother who was also the crown prince of Eternia and said, "she used to much power trying to calm her dragons rage, something crystal draogn has been known for but reason these dragons showed up was the death of a legend and elder behind you," the prince told his brother.

"She will be missed and justice will be served those that kill a dragon will be punished," the crown prince said. Prince Leon and his brother the crown prince prepared the ceremony that was often used when a dragon died and later that night the everyone watched as the rainbow ancient dragon burned the dragon to ashes.

Many spoke of her as a legend and a dragon that never gave up on the human race. Crystal on the other hand many had thought didn't have what it took to lead the dragons. There were some dragon that believed the dragon were better off without her.

Crystal woke up the next morning and was saw Sophie's worried look on her face. "It's my fault she died Sophie, if only i was willing to go and meet my father but what if he figured out the dragon and mytical creatures was hiding here?" Crystal asked.

"Don't worrie about it, next time will be better," Sophie said. Crystal was told to take things easy but she desided not to lissten and started working. She started her morining by feeding the animals making sure the plants and crops were watered and then she started doing patroles all threw the day close to shore far off shore she started looking for any injured creature and in the evenings Crystal fed the animals again and made sure the crops and plants were watered.

Starmist noticed the change in Crystal and told Nylla one evening, "I think Crystal is taking the death of our friend to serously," Nylla looked at Starmist and said, "You might be right she hasn't been the same and i do not know when was the last time she took time to take care of herself," Nylla siad.

"Did you here what some of the dragons has been saying?" Starmsit said. "Hard not to hear, they blame the death of the elder on Crystal and what they do not understand is that they are asking a single human to do all this work and they dont want to understand that it's to much for one persone she is burning out from all the work," Nylla said.

The next morning Crystal was up before dawn and started to take care of all the animals. Once she was done she was about to go on patrol when Prince Leon finally arived.

"Where are you going?" he asked. "Patrol making sure the valley is save and looking for injured dragons why?" Crystal asked. "I need you to come with me, its about your father," Prince Leon said. Crystal looked at the prince and said, "I am not going to see him, he's after the dragons more preceise he wants the time ancient dragon," Crystal said.

"Crystal wont you talk to him at least," Prince Leon asked. "No, he made it clear that i am not his daugter and didn't he say this war is my fault?" Crystal said.
