Chapter 54
Crystal was busy making a meal for herself when Lady Fella stormed into the room. "How dare you mix with the royal?" she shouted. "What do you mean?" Crystal asked surprised.
Lady Fella was so angry that instead of hearing Crystal out she locked her up in the dungeon. Crystal found herself being chained to the wall and as the door closed behind the last guard she felt tears coming down her cheeks.
In her mind, she was looking for an answer, a solution or an explanation that would explain everything but nothing came to mind. The guards brought her food but she refused to eat any of it and was forced to endure even more pain from the chains that held her hands in the sky for hours.
Crystal was growing week from not eating and drinking anything when the door one day opened and Lady Fella came in. Crystal's eyes were filled with fear for she still didn't understand what did she do wrong. How could she mix with the royals if her only friend was Prince Leon?
"You refuse to eat anything we send you, why?" she asked but Crystal chose not to answer her and so Lady Fella left the room. The next morning Crystal was being brought in front of a court. The court decided to lock Crystal and every dragon and creature under her care up until the queen returned to decided what to do.
Crystal found herself sleeping on a cold floor but the next morning Crystal found a warm hand shaking her awake. She opened her eyes and saw a lady beautifully dressed and heard her asking the guards.
"Did any of you explained the rules to her?" the lady asked. "Isn't that your job my lady?" one guard asked. The lady was furious and shouted at them, "you locked her up without giving her or her team time to explain and then you hold a trial and dare not wait for me or any of us do you know it takes days for us to get here?" she shouted at the guards.
Crystal heard Sakura speak, "I do not know what she did wrong but Prince Leon is a close friend one she turns to for advice as you know the Golsend crown is not what it once was, and she doesn't have anyone else that is willing to help understand your ways."
"Prince Leon and Crystal sat on the stairs all night, talking what we all talked about is not for your concern but I am shocked that you would not ask us what happened we were there of course," Drake said.
"You are so concerned with what the Golsend crown was, you do not see what it can become," Alya said. "Ancient ones I am truly sorry for what has happened," the lady said.
The lady came everyday bringing food with her making sure Crystal eats. She never spoke anything but Crystal always saw the concerned on her face. The days that followed and Crystal was now walking around. She found Nylla and realised something was wrong.
"Nylla what is wrong?" Crystal asked. "Crystal it's Furry I can't feel my connection with him anymore," Nylla said.
Crystal grew worried and asked Forest if she should be worried. "I think the killed both Prince Leon and his dragon. Its the only reason why she would feel the way she feels right now,"
Crystal found herself crying and she asked, "they would kill a man just because he tried to get me to understand what is going on?" Forest looked around and said, "It seems that is how things work around here if you do not do as they say you pay for it whit your life.
Alya looked up towards Crystal and said, "It's unfortunately how things work, but I do not remember it being this brutal the last time we were here?" Ferrum opened his eyes and said, "true it wasn't always so aggressive and bossy."
Crystal did as she was told and soon was allowed outside but she didn't see the joy in being outside. The lady one day asked her where she would like to live and all Crystal could think of was away from them.
"I think I'll leave when I am free, find a forest or something that needs help and settle there. I won't be coming back ever and I don't think I will be able to keep Nylla in control for long since you and your friends killed her mate. It's better that I go before she destroys everything around here," Crystal replied.
"What do you mean we killed her mate?" the lady asked.
"Prince Leon's dragon Furry was Nylla's mate, she doesn't' feel the bond anymore and since she is a second-generation royal crystal dragon keeping them in control is not so easy.
In her current state, she will be unpredictable and I don't have the power to stop her so we are leaving for your safety and not my own," Crystal said.
The Lady had her hand over her mouth and said, "I didn't know they were mate's!"
Crystal took a deep breath and said, "no one knows Pince Leon and I found out about it a while back and we haven't decided what to do yet. Since Prince Leon and his dragon is dead I guess you gave us a solution, not a good one though since I am sure Nylla will be trying to kill you every time we come here so its best we go," Crystal said.
The day's that followed Crystal found she was strong enough to ride again and started having trouble keeping Nylla under control. The court dismissed her crimes and apologised for the misunderstanding.
That night she saddled Nylla and everyone was gathering.
The female dragon was close to laying her eggs and Crystal was busily deciding what was the best way for her to travel
. She had hoped this would be the last time she would be asking the dragon to travel in her state. In the end, Crystal decided to used her rider bracelet to make travel a bit more comfortable for her.
When the Lady and her men arrived later that evening they discovered that Crystal and her team were long gone. She left a note saying that Nylla was not in a good state and she needed time to help her get over Furry's death.
The lady stood in shock as she looked around her, "where is she my lady?" one asked. "She left already, Nylla is impossible to calm down so she left to find a way to calm Nylla down," the lady said.
The men and woman looked shocked and that morning Prince Leon arrived as well as the elve elder both baring good news.
When they learned that Crystal was gone and why she left, leaving only a note behind, Prince Leon especially was very angry.
"I found her before I can find her again," is all he said. The elve elder asked him if he could accompany him as his news is for Crystal's knowledge only.
Crystal had landed that morning next to a lake and found it was a save place to rest for a while and it wasn't long after they made camp that Prince Leon and the elve elder found them.
"How did you know they were going to be here?" prince Leon asked. "It's because I am an elve and we understand nature," he answered.
Prince Leon woke Crystal up and was surprised to find Crystal crying. Nylla calmed down when she saw Furry and understood that he was never in any harm.
Prince Leon realised that Nylla wasn't the only one that was worried and apologised to Crystal for scaring her like that.
"I am sorry I should have explained the rules to you?" Prince Leon said. "Why is it that they don't want to mix with royals?" Crystal asked.
"Its a rule some of them believes in and they will do anything to keep it but I am not sure of the origins of the rule. I do have good news for you?" Prince Leon said.
"What is it?" Crystal asked. "My dad said he has a palace that he is not going to use again and gave permission for you to stay there. It's not far from here and we usually used it when we visited the elve kingdom but he has found a better place and told me we could use it as we see fit," Prince Leon said.
"That help's me actually a lot because I spoke with the royal elves they have agreed to teach you but you are to be trained outside there land. They will blindfold you and give you your test. When you pass all only then will they let you see them for the first time," the elve elder said.
Crystal was happy and said, "thank you, both of you, can we head there tomorrow I have a female dragon that could lay her eggs any day now and I promised I would protect them," Crystal said.
Prince Leon took off and led the group to the palace, it was only a day's flight away but they arrived safely at the palace that evening. Everyone got settled into stables and settled in for the night.
Crystal found herself looking at the stars and wondered if she would ever understand what is going on around her. What is with all these secrets? Why does it seem that the Golsend crown has a destructive power? Is everyone really that afraid of this power?
