Slavica didn't mean to call Gwen like that but the way she tried to hide her blushing cheeks from her and the grinning lips of her team, she slightly looked away for a couple of seconds.
"It's alright." Gwen caught her attention and smiled at her. Slavica was very thankful for how kind she could be and nodded.
"Okay, if you allowed me so, darling. What I am saying was the Maestros or your parents trap the grandfather with the use of Alwina's death. And based on your memories that suddenly crept out in your mind, I could tell that your adoptive parents noticed that you, Alwina, and their hired assassin were getting along a lot. They feared that you'll be awakened all of the sudden…" Slavica stated her guess as she connected everything that they had on the center table; their sensitive case around the countess of Larouve and Gwen's awakening.
"What are they trying to hide behind my memories?" Gwen curiously asked since she really doesn't have any idea what they were really thinking when they hid it from her.
"You're different. I think they learned you're origin after they adopt you. I think they noticed something different from you than the other kids out there. They want to cultivate it for goodness which I think Alwina do them a favor by sealing that part." She answered as if she was there which made Gwen calm.
"So, that's why each time I am traveling with them, we never failed to visit Lady Alwina…" Gwen calmly thought about the reason for her parents when they had to seal her memories.
"Exactly, they asked Alwina to seal some memories about that uniqueness that lies inside of you until it was the right time but when it does, they died." Slavica smiled genuinely at how Gwen managed everything that she was hearing while still analyzing the connection of everything in their case.
"But since Alwina's grandfather went really twisted, Alwina asked my parents for a favor since she's helped them to seal me. They set these twisted cases just to bring down Alwina's grandfather." Gwen made another legit guess that Slavica couldn't be even more proud of how clever her mate's beautiful mind could be.
"Doing that favor cost a lot of lives…Honey, for what intention?" Gwen still left some doubt ringing the thoughts that made her forget that she addresses an endearment as she directly asked Slavica.
"The intention of your parents was for you to have a nice childhood and not be full of hatred since every person who sees anyone differently, they'll bring it down which could lead to depression and death. Plus, they were waiting for the right time when you're mature enough to handle difficult situations and be awakened for who you really are. Also, the intention of Alwina was just to put their family's misery out of their lives." She carefully explained to Gwen and to her team how they finally got the answer to their case.
"That's why we suddenly handled this case…" Tacker slouched on the couch as he groaned which made Yui join her mate to calm him down.
"You mean to say that this wasn't your case, to begin with?" Gwen wondered why they were holding the case if it was theirs to clear in the first place.
"Our only case was to get you and train you to be one of us. That's the original case that we're handling but ever since they heard it was you, they threw this case to us since it never had been solved." Irina answered which made Gwen look apologetic to them but they just smiled at her. They like her for their team since they could solve their case within just two or three days and of course, they like her for their boss so it won't be that grumpy around them.
"Don't worry the case with the sudden death of the Countess of Larouve is now closed." Slavica reassured Gwen that the case that they were dealing with was finally closed. They only need to report it to the headquarters so they could inform the Larouve family what really happened to their eldest countess.
As the case of the fall of the Larouve eldest Countess was finally closed, Slavica began working seriously since she was the one who was needed to make a full report regarding that case. As she was preoccupied on the couch, Irina decided to help their leader while for Yui and Tacker managed to steal Gwen from sitting beside Slavica before heading to the kitchen.
"Do you know how to cook?" Tacker whispered very low so that Irina and Slavica won't be able to hear them.
"Yeah, but I'm no chef." Gwen answered that she lived alone which forced her to learn on cooking.
"Great, cook for us." Yui sounded like an excited kid which I can't help but smile at.
"We need a new taste." Tacker added which made Gwen speechless.
"Here are the available ingredients here in the cabin. We still didn't make a grocery for this week." Yui added shyly as she opened the fridge.
"We leave it to you." Tacker pulled Yui away before the dash off to the backyard just close to the fridge.
"Wha-wait!" Gwen tried to stop them as soon as she closed the door but they were no longer there.
"Great…" Gwen turned back over to the fridge to check what the ingredients that were only available to cook are.
As Gwen was busy checking what available ingredients were in the fridge, she went to the cabinets and lower cabinets to see if there was anything to add up. When she found something, she set everything on the countertop with some available ingredients in the fridge.
"Now, what to do with this?" Gwen kept staring at the available ingredients in front of her but there was nothing coming out of her mind. She just released a sigh before she began preparing whatever she could with bread, potatoes, tomatoes, lemon, cheese, onions, garlic, pepper, and salt. Gwen didn't know what really she was going to cook but with those limited ingredients, she'll find something – experiment hoping that their stomach will manage to handle what taste it will be.
Girl you are to me, all that a woman should be
And I dedicate my life to you always
A love like yours is grand
It must have been sent from up above
And I know you'll stay this way, for always
As she began cooking, she began to wear an apron and tied her long black hair into a bun since she was about to cook. Gwen didn't even realize that she was humming a melody then out of the blue she began singing the song Always by Atlantic Starr.
And we both know, that our love will grow
And forever it will be you and me, hey
Ooh your life is sun
Chasing all of the rain away
When you come around you bring brighter days
Gwen was just singing as she kept moving around the kitchen she didn't even realize that some of her energy was being released that caught Irina and Slavica's attention and looked over her way. The energy showing around her began to take form from her lower back waist and even started assisting her with cooking around.
"Wow, how can she do that? I mean letting her energy assist her." Irina wondered as she was totally amazed at what Gwen can do.
You're the perfect one
For me and you, forever we'll be
And I will love you so for always
"I'm puzzled too but she's definitely a promising one." Slavica agreed but she was feeling proud of Gwen's growing abilities.
The two of them kept watching until Gwen turned around and only to meet her golden energy that molded into a tailed hand. She was not surprised instead, she smiled at it before going back to cooking.
"I think that's what her parents saw when she was a kid." Slavica finally understood how Gwen's parents decided to seal her memories with the help of Alwina.
"Are we going to report that as well?" Irina curious asked Slavica as her being their leader and boss.
"That her memories were being sealed?" she wanted to make sure if Irina meant the sealed power that was slowly showing off ever since they saved Gwen. She saved Gwen.
"Yeah…" Irina nodded as she watched Gwen move around the kitchen where she was usually handling their food if Slavica couldn't cook for them. Things will end up in disaster if she was alone in the kitchen to cook that's why she leaves it to her team.
Gwen kept singing while cooking and Slavica found herself smiling at that part of the song. She somewhat saw a sudden flash of her being with Gwen in the kitchen, cooking while singing or even dancing or even holding her around her waist.
"Not until we finally see where her power was going to lead us." Slavica answered while her smile never leaving her lips. She's going to be with Gwen all the time since she offered to be the watcher and trainer for Gwen's supernatural growth.
"Let's cultivate her for the better version of her." Irina agreed with what Slavica was saying.
"That's for her to decide, Irina. We'll just have to guide her once it reached its full potential." But she cleared what she really meant and Irina liked it better.
Slavica decided to let Gwen be and just went back to handling the report with Irina. After a few moments, Gwen finished whatever she was cooking for everyone. She even set all the plates for them and divided what she just cooked over each plate before she started cleaning up around the kitchen.
"That smells good." Yui commented as she came rushing from the backdoor and she quickly washed her hands.
"Yeah, something new to taste." Tacker followed her inside as he was wiping his sweat from the training that he did with Yui in the backyard. But before the couple could even go further, Irina's presence was already piercing their backs and made them shiver.
"As I thought, you left her with your task tonight." Irina sigh in disbelief at what her teammates just did to the newbie.
"It's okay Irina, I could tell that they didn't know what to do with the remaining ingredients here." Gwen was being polite and honest which made Irina shoots death glares directly at Tacker. He was supposed to be the one who'll do the groceries.
"Tacker, you told me you made your groceries." Irina might be showing her smile after her glares faded but it was more delicate than those typical glares. She was emitting dark air aiming at Tacker who was frightened.
"I did…but at the same time I didn't…" Tacker stuttered as he moved at the back of Gwen and Yui to hide from Irina's darkness.
"Why you!" Irina shouted and was about to use her power but Slavica managed to hold her shoulder. It quickly cut the dark air floating around her and even made Irina calm down in an instant. Only Slavica could calm her down aside from her husband and since she was not with him, Slavica was assigned to do that.
"Irina, scold him on his training with you later. Let's eat." She reminded Irina that it was their turn on training the whole basement.
"That's much better." Irina grinned and took a seat beside Slavica on the right while Yui was on Irina's left. She's being in the middle of them which made her face Tacker across the peninsula bar area.
"Yey!" Yui just started to dig into the food and it has good taste even though it was just an experimental meal.
They kept eating decent meals for the night and it was very rare for them to feel full or even enjoy the meal because they couldn't put down the cases that they were handling. But ever since Gwen came into the picture, their team finally having fun. Anyway, as they were done, Irina quickly grabbed Tacker's nape and dragged him down to the basement. Yui wished her mate a bit of good luck before handling the cleaning around since Slavica has to start Gwen's training in the backyard after a few minutes of break.
"Are you sure it was okay for Yui to clean everything all by herself?" Gwen wondered since she worried that Yui won't be able to clean up everything in the cabin alone.
"She'll be fine since she's manipulating the water so it was so easy for her to do it. So, don't worry about it." Slavica honestly told her the reason they leave the cleaning to Yui after letting her tummy be full.
"Okay, if you say so. So, can you tell me what we're doing out here again?" Gwen changed the subject as soon as they got back to the woods again.
"We're going to train you." Slavica answered as she placed a few empty cans and bottles at the top of the broken logs that were far from each other.
"Like earlier?" Gwen wondered as she watched Slavica do what she was doing.
"Nope. I'm going to train you how to control your energy flow without being noticed by your opponents..." she explained to her but Gwen spoke already.
"By shooting them?" Gwen wondered before Slavica could even finish the rules of it.
"Yes, but the catch was making sure they won't shatter into pieces." Slavica was smiling as she walked about to where Gwen was standing still with a confused expression on her face.
"What – was that even possible?" she was totally confused and puzzled about how she could even do that without anyone being given to her.
"Just make it happen. I believe that you can." Slavica encouraged her. Gwen seriously wanted to know how to do it but when she saw Slavica's smiling face, she only could release a heavy sigh and be defeated by it.
"It's now or never." Gwen mumbled under her breath before she took a deep breath and calmed everything inside of her.
