Chapter 30: The Dual Swords of Grey

As Gwen's swords glowed, she readied herself and let the bloody strings be stretched before shooting down so she could hit the two monsters trying to get her on her strings. She fell down like a very fast lightning strike toward the two monsters heading her way. They were just focusing on killing her but they didn't anticipate the speed that Gwen was doing until it was too late. With one just simple dash of lightning, she easily made some cuts over their body. She did not kill them since it was not her intention and it angered the two monsters. They were about to counter but her bloody strings moved.

"Do you think, I will let you live just like that? Not in my watch." Gwen's voice was very deep and taunting which made them quiver in fear but they still went on charging at her. They were charging at her out of fear which made Gwen see how predictable their moves were.

As her bloody strings moved, the two monsters were being wrapped and chopped into pieces. Their blood became rain and since their blood was spluttering, the bloody strings took it and turned it into strings then it multiplied around the woods.

"Still going to charge at me?" Gwen taunted the other monsters beneath her as she looked over her swords that kept glowing like a beating heart as if they were talking to her.

The monsters were growling more furious at her and about to get her but something made them halt and groaned. There was some gush of a harsh wind passed by and by the time they looked up to where they sensed it stopped, somebody – someone particularly appeared beside Gwen. The familiar left arm wrapped around her neck and Slavica stood protectively around her which made her palms glow.

"So, your hands were glowing now." Gwen noticed the glowing left hand of Slavica since it was closer to her face that's why it was easy to see.

"Well, it's about the sword that I am telling you about and it wanted to be out." Slavica only managed to answer her and it made Gwen smile.

"Go ahead. I won't stop you." She even ushered Slavica to use them. She likes what she just heard from Gwen and grinned in excitement.

"Heh, I would love that." Slavica grinned while she was standing behind protectively around Gwen. Both of them stood in such balance over the bloody strings above those monsters.

But when Slavica looked over the monsters beneath them, her eyes began to glow and taunted them. Monsters and fallen rogues began roaring and started charging at them but Slavica raised her left arm just at the level of Gwen's chest. She opened her palm and with her free right hand made a gesture of pulling something out from her left.

"Triquetra." Slavica whispered which only Gwen could hear clearly as she pulled something from her palm.

Slavica kept pulling it which made it release a faint glow that was growing brighter until it was being pulled out fully. It took its form into a colorless sword that made it translucent but it was radiating in such a golden shade as if it was a sword from heaven. With that kind of glow, none of them were being blinded as it was being pulled out from its scabbard. The sword began to radiate in such power as it also released a very powerful vibration that echoed around the woods. The vibration was very loud as if it was screaming and crying that making the monsters lurking around them scream in such disturbed pain as they covered their ears.

'MAKE IT STOP!'

'AHHH!! SAVE ME!!'

'I'LL GET YOU FOR THIS!'

'AHHH!! HELP ME!!'

They were indeed roaring in agony but among those painful cries, only a few pleaded to be saved and helped them from what made them suffer. They both heard them but those monsters or fallen rogues still have enough strength to resist, they all managed to get up and fought it back.

"Seems like we're going to have a test over our swords' powers." Slavica said when they both notice they begin charging at them while the others can't get up on their feet anymore.

"Seems like it does." Gwen agreed after a heavy sigh. As much as she could, she doesn't want any more blood but at the moment, they were being forced to do so.

As they went on charging with rage, Gwen began to make her bloody strings moved and made them separate from each other to divide their opponents. Gwen stayed over her bloody strings and manipulate them like a puppeteer. She made some monsters fight the others which only fueled them up.

"Ops! I angered them." Gwen muttered to herself yet she was grinning as if she plotted it to be that way.

As Gwen was busy on her part, Slavica was also doing her best as she released her skills as the first knight of her queen. She showed her sword fighting skills and she missed to do. Every wields her colorless sword, she either chopped them by parts or struck their hearts or even beheads them with one quick swing of her sword.

But both of them were having a hard time since they were not stopping coming at them. It was like a non-stop mob whenever they managed to kill one, two monsters will appear before them. It was annoying.

"Slavica, I'm getting annoyed with them." Gwen whispered that only Slavica could hear which made her jolted from hearing. Slavica didn't realize that Gwen could already do a direct private mind-link already. She smirked as she never can get enough of how Gwen could fascinate her out of the blue.

"Then, make it glow more." Slavica whispered back at her and Gwen began to do something that altered the flow of her energy to Slavica.

Their energy was merging and Gwen's electrical wave came rushing and start being erratic static. It was making fireworks flick around the air which made Gwen take a deep cold breath and let her lungs expand. It was making the bloody strings glow in such bright blood.

"Lovely. You're lovely." Slavica smirked as she appeared in front of Gwen and raised her right hand pointing the over the monsters before them.

They were dashing to attack the two of them while roaring in madness but something began to shift around the air in the woods.

"Hear my prayer." Gwen lowly whispered as her two swords faintly glows like a heartbeat.

Every anxious thought that steals my breath

It's a heavy weight upon my chest

As I lie awake and wonder what the future will hold

Help me to remember that You're in control

Then there were some different notes from different instruments suddenly began to echo around the area and it was making a melody that activated the bells around the bloody strings. It was ringing as it glowed in such a beat as if it was dancing over the melody that was echoing around the woods. The melody was echoing loudly across the woods which was a nice song for something about to happen for the first time in their lives. Changing and fearing no more.

You're my courage when I worry in the dead of night

You're my strength 'cause I'm not strong enough to win this fight

You are greater than the battle raging in my mind

I will trust You, Lord, I will fear no more

The melody that was echoing throughout the woods was a song called I Will Fear No More by The Afters. It was making the bells ring in such a serene flow that can make the body sway and let go of what troubles the mind and heart.

I will lift my eyes, I will lift my cares

Lay them in Your hands, I'll leave them there

When the wind and waves are coming, You shelter me

Even though I'm in the storm, the storm is not in me

Gwen tear up when she heard the melody because it was reflecting what was happening inside of her but it was time to leave them up to the highest heaven's care. Her swords that she was holding were glowing brighter bit by bit and the air around her changed. Slavica felt them and she was glad to be there beside when Gwen started to change for the better.

No power can come against me 'cause You have overcome

No darkness can overwhelm me 'cause You've already won

As soon as that part of the song echoed and Gwen's prayer ended, the channeled energy around them suddenly halted then they both vanished in very thin air. Every monster or fallen rogue around them might be in their wary state yet due to the fear they were feeling, they started to be repulsive and went havoc. They went berserk which made every bell around the bloody strings ring too loud which made some strong vibration come out from Slavica's sword.

"You're waking the Excalibur's Cry in my Triquetra." Slavica whispered as she suddenly appeared behind one hideous and rotten human bear.

The creature was surprised by her sudden appearance and began to quiver in fear. It just roared and even tried to attack Slavica but it couldn't make it anymore. With one dodge that Slavica did from its coming obvious attack, she just made a swing that slit the decaying throat of the said creature before her. Then after doing that, she was gone again.

"These creatures were from the unreasonable desires that they could not control anymore. What are you going to do since some of them were once human beings?" Slavica seriously asked Gwen while she carefully dodges some monster's attack charging at her.

"We could only save and help those who really asked for it." Gwen quickly answered since she heard some of them pleading to be saved and helped with what was making them lose themselves.

"Alright then, I will that part to you. It seems to me that only you can hear their plead." She let Gwen handle the creatures needing their help.

"And you?" Gwen asked curiously while she was setting her bloody strings around those creatures who were asking for help without their knowledge.

"I'll clean up since it's my job to eradicate those who weren't needed to be here." Slavica smirked sinisterly since it's been a while since the last time she wield her sword as the protective knight that she always was.

"Don't overdo it." Gwen whispered that making Slavica nod but the grin over her lips didn't fade.

Slavica went rogue and let the blood from those fallen creatures who came and ruined their peace splatter non-stop. She did not have any hard time giving them a nice and clean cut all over their bodies. She chop and dissected them neatly apart from their blood raining in reserved.

"She's having fun." Gwen sighed while shaking her head and went on focusing on how she'll deal with those monsters that she wrapped with her bloody strings.

'Be a good child of night and day and help them not to get lost as the dual swords of Grey shine as bright morning stars.'

Gwen was a little bit surprised when she heard a majestic voice echo through her hearing and out of the blue, she knew how to do it. She let the bloody strings once again be stretched before sending herself off in such lightning speed that struck anything that crossed her way. She was not hesitating on piercing those tainted and empty hearts before slicing them into half or into pieces whenever she used her bloody strings on killing them.

"You. All of you, what are you doing here?" Gwen's voice was deep and commanding which made the pleading monsters or fallen rogues cry in fear and forgiveness.

'Forced.'

'Saved us.'

'Help us.'

'We heard the awakening of the bright star which made us go here.'

"Who speaks about them to you?" Gwen wondered who made them rush and attacked them without confirming what they were looking for.

'Vampires…fallens…'

"Fallen vampires?" she wondered and the pleading and weakening monsters before she nodded.

'Yes…please save us from being captive…if not us, save our family they were keeping away from us.'

"Slavica, informed the DIP about their case. Or else those fallen vampires will taste my wrath." Gwen started to feel the anger raising up all over her body. Yet, her mind was chanting to calm down as long as she could.

"Easy, we need more information about it." Slavica told her since they were not sure what could be waiting for them if they suddenly rush to the fallen vampires who plotted their attacks on them.

"I GET THAT ALREADY BUT I DON'T WANT ANY INTERRUPTION WITH MY TRAINING! I'LL BE THE MONSTER THEY'LL EVER FEAR OF IF THEY DENIED ON GIVING IT TO ME. SO DON'T EVER CROSS ME EVER AGAIN!" Gwen's voice boomed in a very strong and commanding voice that made every remaining monster or fallen rogue fall down onto their knees, shaking in fear.

It was not the monsters alone who shivered at Gwen's voice. It holds power and firmness but at the same time, there was warm gentleness wrapping beneath it. But Slavica sensed another thing that was radiating around Gwen. She quickly finished the batch of monsters mobbing around her before releasing her command to her team.

"Irina, send your minions secretly to the fallen rogues they were talking about and the rest handled them. Tucker, protect your mate as well as our cabin." When they heard their boss's command, they immediately complied. Irina summoned her small monsters and went to their jobs while her big ones went into their defensive mode. Tucker rushed to the cabin's perimeter near his mate and cracked his knuckles. He was ready to kick some nasty asses around their cabin.

"This is going to be tough." Slavica whispered while looking over the raging energy that was radiating around Gwen and it was making her swords glow warmer like the heat of the sun.
