Chapter 40: The Hunter’s Fallen Side & Teasing a Wolf

"My bloody strings and bloody flames told me so. Not to mention, I could sense Wilma behind me while Alysia was sitting across me. Then beside her, there's a hunter, and next to you was a wolf." Gwen answered as she relaxed on her seat before her eyes shifted back to the usual taint of moonlight.

"I told you it's no use." Alys spoke as she clapped her hands which make the entire room to be filled with light.

"It's a worth try." the hunter man beside her shrugged his shoulder when he said those words.

"Should I guess that you were much older than Slavica, right?" Gwen asked directly which made them laugh and Wilma patted her shoulder.

"We are. Let's just say we meet when the epidemic in our night realm exploded like wildfire." Wilma answered as she went to the small pantry within their office.

Gwen just nodded while she watched everyone do something on their spot. Mina, the vampire queen was preoccupied with paper works and she might be stressing out because of them but she was still looking graceful and beautiful. Mina took notice of Gwen's stare and smiled genuinely at her. Gwen blushed and looked at the man beside her.

"She heard what I'm thinking, am I right? Oh well. She's a vampire queen." Gwen just sighed within her thoughts and studied the man beside Mina.

He was masculine and dominating which made Gwen sense the short-tempered swirling around him. She could even tell that he was a wolf from being half naked and weird wolf tattoo with red vines over his shoulder wrapping around his back.

"Quit staring. It's very appropriate for a lady to do that to a man." the werewolf man sensed Gwen's staring at him. Gwen was not staring but more on reading the energy flow around him and he didn't realize that.

"You're a man? I thought you were gay because of the way you stand beside Mina." Gwen flatly teased since she wanted to check things out.

"YOU!" He growled.

"Ah, you're definitely a wolf. Short tempered that they always had." Gwen snapped her finger as she cleared that he was indeed a wolf shifter.

"Can I kill her?" he turned to Mina when he asked her.

"You may try." Gwen answered before Mina could.

"Don't provoke me." he was growling while trying to control himself from shifting inside their office.

"Neither am I." She countered since she was indeed provoking him. Gwen could see his aura shifting into something dark and malicious like those fallen rogues that she faced at the cabin's woods a few days ago.

"YOU!" He loudly growled.

"Me?" Gwen sounded like she was challenging him.

"Enough, Jefferson." Mina warned the wolf shifter beside her.

"BUT SHE STARTED IT." He roared while glaring at Gwen who was shrugging her shoulders and looking at the people across her spot.

"And taking a bite." Mina sighed in disbelief.

Gwen might be trying to read the persons across her where the lady with green and soothing aura reading file report sent to her. Then beside her, a man in black clothing who looked more like an assassin was checking the entire map on the center table. He was having a weird aura that made Gwen shiver.

"He reminded me about Slavica's serious facade." Gwen muttered to herself before looking back to the wolf who was still glaring at her.

"Wanna try me, fallen lone wolf alpha?" Gwen smirked when their eyes made contact. He growled loudly and was about to approach her when Gwen made the entire room hot.

They all could feel the burning summer heat from the sun and it was making them look where it was coming from. Mina felt like she was burning, Alys and the hunter felt like they couldn't breathe freely and the wolf, Jefferson, sweat a lot more than usual.

"Guenivere." Wilma's voice echoed around the entire room which snapped Gwen from releasing the heat from the sun. Everything went back to the usual temperature and all of them looked at Gwen.

"Don't call me that…she's…" Gwen sighed as she recalled the only vampire called her by that name.

"She's your bloodline." Wilma smiled as she handed a cup of hot tea that she just made a while ago when Gwen teased Jefferson.

"What I mean is that you came from the same family tree and it connects one of my tribe members." She continued that made Gwen sigh.

"Another thing to know about my real parents, huh?" Gwen sighed and Wilma chuckled as she slightly nod.

There was no more conversation after a second that topic was dropped. But after they took a couple of sips from their hot cup, Wilma decided to break the silence and speak directly to Gwen.

"So, are you done reading everyone in the room, Gwen?" Wilma opened another topic and Gwen put down her cup before answering.

"Hmm, what's his name? He reminded me of Vica when she's serious about something." Gwen looked at the hunter beside Alys.

"I'm Nejin…" He introduced his name and was about to say something when Gwen cut him off out of the blue.

"Are you infected?" she directly asked making everyone look at her as if she was a ghost.

"Infected? Ah, you mean the fallen rogue epidemic?" Nejin thought for a moment there but realized what does Gwen meant by it.

"Yeah, if you put it that way." She nodded and Nejin smiled.

"I am." Nejin answered.

"Bitten or hurt?" she wondered like a curious cat again.

"Hurt." he answered.

"Why you're asking him?" Alys curiously asked since Gwen was never diverting her attention from Nejin.

"May I check something?" Gwen stood up from her seat and went closer to Nejin's spot.

"Sure, just don't kill me." Nejin chuckled.

"I won't but you'll be in a lot of pain." Gwen smiled genuinely and reminded him about the pain that he might feel from what she was about to do.

"Okay, I do have great tolerance for pain, so, hit me." Nejin nodded while smiling slightly at her.

"Okay, here we go and Alys, if you are his mate, don't touch him but you can help him lessen the pain through your earthly magic." Gwen nodded and reminded Alys about not touching him since she doesn't want Alys to be in cursing pain at whatever she was about to do.

"How…" Alys was about to say something but Wilma cut her off.

"Let her, Alys. She had the blood of tamer from her mother." Wilma smiled assuringly at her and Alys just sigh and let Gwen do whatever she had to do for Nejin.

Gwen positioned herself in front of Nejin and placed her hands on both sides of Nejin's before letting her thumbs be at the center of Nejin's temple. At first, there was nothing and Nejin was starting to get impatient and confused about what Gwen was doing until he felt something crawling out from his old wound. It was the old wound that he received from the fallen rogues before he met Alys.

"What was happening? Something was coming out from my old wounds." Nejin asked curiously until he started to get nervous because none of them was speaking especially Gwen. She was the only one who could tell what was happening to him.

"Gwen, tell me." Nejin sounded like he was pleading and Gwen heard them clearly.

"Shh…don't worry…just breath… it's nearly done." Gwen hushed him and instructed him to breathe naturally then her eyes shifted to icy blue that almost looked like mauve.

But when he was in the middle of his breathing something began to shift around him. The wound from his body made his lungs to tightened and his breathing to be lessened. Nejin could hear his heart throbbing really fast and hard. It was ringing through his ears that made him start to groan in pain.

"ARGHHH!!! FUCKKK!!!! WHAT THE FUCK! IT'S TOO PAINFUL!" Nejin shouted as the veins over his neck started to show up on her head.

"I did warn you." Gwen commented but she kept awakening the fallen side of Nejin's wound.

"I KNOW BUT - ARGHHH!!!!" Nejin wanted to break from Gwen's grip but he couldn't Gwen's blood strings was already preventing him ever since she walked towards him.

"Just a few more…" Gwen assured him and made Nejin grit his teeth to control the pain.

"One loud scream it will be done." she continued and Nejin followed her instruction.

"ARGHHHHHH!!!!!" he released one loud scream over the top of his lungs until Gwen's eyes

"Nicely done. You just sounded like you gave birth." Gwen praised and teased him at the same time.

"Gwen." Nejin glared while panting at what just happened to him.

"Kidding but setting that aside, I just release your fallen side…do you feel something? Anything?" Gwen chuckled slightly and asked him carefully.

"Now that you mention, I feel sensitive…I could hear everything and sensed everything…wow…that's a wide radius…how come I didn't know this?" Nejin answered as he began trying to use his unique ability and was surprised that he could sense a very large scale than before. He could everything around their quarters' perimeter.

"I could tell you can navigate and your sensitive was already high but being infected by the fallen rogue, you need to release it from time to time, especially when it is needed." Gwen smiled and explained to him how she did it.

"But seriously how can you tell?" he asked curiously while everyone in the room listened to their conversation.

"I could hear your fallen side…I think it's the ability that I inherit from my biological mother since she's a tamer shaman priestess." Gwen shrugged her shoulders and patted his shoulder before going back to her seat.

"Look over your wound. It will spread when it was activated and it will go back to its usual when you're not. But let me warn you, the more you use it, the more it will grow big until you turn into a fallen rogue." She added before she gave her warning about releasing it all the time. Nejin could lose himself if he was overwhelmed by it and used it recklessly.

"How come we didn't know that?" Alys wondered.

"Wilma, do have any idea about it?" Jefferson asked Wilma directly.

"Not until she came here in person." Wilma answered what only she could give to them.

"So you do have a slight premonition about it?" Mina asked her this time.

"Yes, but everything was not clear until Gwen was here with us." Wilma honestly answered.

"You're indeed a promising one." Alys and Mina said at the same time.

"Maybe. So, am I done with meeting all of you?" Gwen smiled while she slightly blushed from their comment.

"It seems to me you're hungry." Wilma teased.

"Correction starving." Gwen grinned which made them laugh.

"Alright, let's all go to the cafeteria." Nejin get up from his seat and followed by Alys.

"We'll surprise everyone if we do that." Jefferson stretched his stiff body and assisted Mina to get up from her seat.

"What do you expect? We've been busy and rarely go out from our office because of those fallen rogues." Mina sighed as she stated the fact of their reason why they can't easily go to the cafeteria and enjoy their food there.

"I know." Wilma agreed and Alys just snapped her fingertips that made them automatically teleport to the cafeteria.

As soon as they suddenly appeared at the cafeteria, everyone who was there reacted animatedly; jaw dropped, food fell out from their mouth, drinks spilled on the floor, and some slipped from walking toward their table or bumping into someone. It was totally epic that made the founders laugh.

"Settle down everyone. We're just here to eat." Alys said to every member of DIP who were in the cafeteria.

"Go back to your meal as we head to ours." Nejin added as he pulled his mate, Alys to his side and went to their chosen table which was Slavica's team already having theirs.

When everyone went back to digging their meal, Gwen rashly went to Slavica's team and hugged Irina who was just finished her ice cream and was about to eat her cotton candy. Irina smiled and patted Gwen's back.

"Good thing Vica wasn't here. She'll be jealous." Irina chuckled.

"I know. So where's my food?" Gwen asked Irina who grinned wide.

"I'll get it." Irina patted her head and stood up from her seat.

"Thank you, Iri." Gwen thanked her and Irina waved her hand as she went inside the kitchen to get what she prepared for Gwen.

"So, how's your meeting with the founders?" Yui asked carefully since they were in the presence of the DIP's founders.

"Nothing much happened aside from helping Nejin with his fallen side and teasing Jefferson." Gwen answered as she shrugged her shoulders.

"You tease a wolf?!" Tucker chuckled as he reacted.

"Yeah, you know just to make sure he's a wolf." Gwen nodded and nonchalantly said before taking a bite from Yui's cake.

"HEY! I'M STILL HERE!" Jefferson growled loudly.

"Intend to." Gwen countered that made the other's jaws drop at how Gwen easily can talk to the founders as if she was equal to them.

"I'll deal with you later." Jefferson clicked his tongue in annoyance.

"I know." She said that made Jefferson growl in irritation before turning to Mina.

"Can I really kill her, Mina? she's getting on my nerves every time she talks to me." He growled as he asked permission to hurt Gwen.

"Then don't talk to her." Mina only said as Nejin placed her raw stake and blood wine on her table.

"She's talking to me! Annoying!" He growled more.

"Okay, way to go on teasing a wolf." Tucker chuckled and praised Gwen for teasing a wolf.

"I know right? I wonder about his wolf though." Gwen nodded and wondered at the same time about Jefferson's wolf for some reason.

"Wanna see my wolf? I'll show you in the training room." Jefferson smirked since he really wanted to kick Gwen's ass for teasing him too much.
