Chapter 34

Jace:

She was smiling in her sleep. Her arms were tight around my torso and head set on my chest. I was content. I kept my head up with an arm behind my head, resting against the headboard of the bed.

Her little hair sprawled on my muscles holding her up on me and the sun soaked her beautiful skin. I wanted her again. She was too good to me last night and I couldnt believe she confessed. She finally confessed that she loved me.

I was over the moon when the words reached me.

She was in one of my t-shirts, I'd brought along the way with me. I lied to her about packing her stuff and made her slide herself into my shirt before she could lay with me. She liked being clothed in bed. It was a thing she'd been doing since I knew her. I never questioned it and always gave her the best comfort possible.

I had to admit though, it was different seeing her with all the weakness under her eyes and the pipe under her nose. They stopped bothering me physically after a couple days of seeing her in it. It was the trauma that bugged us both in that time of hers.

Lucky for us, it was over. She was well, healthy and there was no sign of any cancer cells in her blood, according to a couple months old blood test. Doctor Samian was a good friend of dad's so it was easy for him to read Selene's case file and bring her condition out to a conclusion. I had to know her exact position so I knew how to take care of her. Despite us having passed the hard part of our lives, I had to take every precaution to make sure it never came back for us.

"You're staring." She murmured and I snickered.

"You're beautiful. I dont have a choice." I ran a finger in circles on her arm.

"Tsk." She slapped the hand away but I did it more.

"Jace!" She groaned  trying to role out of me. I held her back and moved her all the way on top of me.

"Let me sleep." She moaned, dropping her head on my chest and snuggling in further. I grinned and ran fingers in her hair.

"Sleep as much as you want, baby." I whispered, enjoying the moment. I couldnt think of the real reason I'd brought her to the cabin. I didnt want to.

Apparently, Aaron Blane had been checking out Selene's apartment complex ever since I was found. So, after we left, I moved Angelika into an apartment on the floor below my penthouse. I refrained her and myself from telling Selene anything because the last thing she needed was another drill on her head. I didnt know what he wanted, Selene or me, either way... he wasnt getting either.

Basically, I'd brought Selene out to a safe house. Everyone knew about this place, her father, Carlisle, Sean, even Allan, bethany and Sydney. They were informed because they needed to be on alert as well. Twisted minds could go for anything to reach out to their target.

"Jace?" Her voice mumbled on my skin. The vibration from her tone tickled me.

"Yes." I sang, pulling hair away from her face.

"I love you." She raised her head to match my face and rested her chin on my body. She gave out a soft smile. Feeling exhilarated, I took her waist in both my hands and she yelped, falling on top of me on the bed.

"You what?" I questioned and she crossed her arms on my chest, resting her chin on the hill of her palms.

"I love you." She beamed and I laughed, rolling us over on the bed and getting on top of her.

"You do?" I confirmed like a high school kid. Heck, she raised that kid again.

"I think so." She teased, playing dumb and I dipped with a lingering kiss on her lips.

"You're nasty." She giggled, pushing my face away.

"You're nasty. I already brushed my teeth." I showed her my full set of teeth with a wide grin and her eyes widened. Her hands covered her lips and she looked embarrassed.

"I need another kiss or no bathroom for you."

"Jace, don't be a jerk." She tried moving out but my hold was too strong.

"Kiss or no bathroom." I kissed her cheeks with every word that came out of me.

She made a weird face and twisted her lips in a disgusted kiss. I still found her adorable so went to them to them in slowly between my lips. I felt her body loosen up in tension and she kissed me back.

Attagirl.

I took one of her thighs in my hold and lifted her leg a bit to my waist so I could better in her body. She gasped in mouth when I bit her bottom lip. Her fingers tightened in my hair and she looked at me like I was the baddest boy to have ever crossed her.

She was right.

Feeling the heat build up between us, I couldnt control the urge anymore and I ended up ripping my own shirt from her body. She didnt yell or scream, the lust burning in her eyes was enough to put me into action. I took her mouth back while taking both her legs by the thighs and wrapping them around my waist.

Soon the moans the ecstasy of the intimate road between us drive to an insane amount of pleasure. Her warm body on mine melted my soul to hers. We screamed in passion and enjoyed the way it destroyed into covering yourself in the sheets again.

***

Selene was showering and forbade me to enter. I obeyed because I think I almost made it impossible for her to even stand straight. She was staggering walking to the bathroom and hissing every second. I shouldve felt bad but I was just proud of myself. The one girl I wanted to impress was overwhelmed by the joy she had with me.

I'd just put on a pair of grey sweats when I heard my name being called by a female, outside in the lounge.

"Mom?" I was a little back by her presence. She stood talk in her black pants, and a black long coat on top. Her golden, dark rooted hair were till her shoulder and she held a dripping closed umbrella in her fingers. Her face was dressed in dark lipstick and make up her golden eyes judged me.

"Jace. Honey." She placed the umbrella in the metal holder by the door and walked to embrace me in a hug. I walked her to the lounge, her heels clicking louder than anything in the house.

"How have you been?" I was really uncomfortable that she was here but I had to keep a good face.

"I'm good. Cobie told me you were here. I had to see you were okay for myself." She cupped my cheek.

Yeah, like you really care about that.

"I'm fine, mom." I stood up and watched a scared Selene walk in. She was beautifully dressed in a beige loose cotton dress I'd gotten for her. Hair wet hair cascaded down her cheeks and she shivered staring at my mom.

"Hello, Mrs. Anderson." She raised a hand for my mom to shake. Mom just scrunched her fingers away and nodded in greeting.

"Mom-" I was feeling offended.

"Jace, can you make us some coffee?" She tapped my shoulder and Selene gave me small nod. I walked past mom to Selene and kissed her forehead.

Then went back the other way to the kitchen.

Selene:

I couldn't stop playing with my thumbs as she bore holes in my head with her gaze. She didnt sit and kept quiet for a while before crossing her arms.

"So you are still alive." She started. I looked up at her with a bitten lip.

"I'm sorry, ma'am. I know I hurt Jace-" I started.

"Save it." She raised her hand.

"Your life must've been hard and considering the healing process, i bet it was slow as well." She basically tried reading me, "Jace must've seemed like a good outlet but he is not a game." I felt my body harden at my words but I quietly agreed.

"Leave him." She finished and my head snapped up.

"We are married." I couldnt believe she could something so wrong, so easily.

"Marriages can be broken. It's not an issue." She shrugged very stiffly.

"Ma'am-"

"For ten years, you put my son through misery. I'm not sure you will give anything better this time, considering where you both are..." her face turned into disgust, "...shacked."

"I know what I did. And it was horrible, but I will spend my entire life making up for it. I would never let anything happen to him." I tried reason with extra calm pumping down the irritation in me.

"How about you put yourself out of this misery then?" She smirked.

"Jace is happy with me. I'm happy with him." I pointed out.

"Oh, please. That's for now, only. He'll get bored soon. Jace has a good future ahead of him and running after you will cost him everything." She waved me off, "Besides he was miserable for ten years when you left." She brought that up again.

"Jace and I are married and I love him. We will build our future together and I assure you I wont let anything happen to him, no matter what comes by." I stood tall with these words.

"Not even Aaron Blane." She cocked her brow and my heart dropped.

"What?"

"Well, why do you think you are here?" She coldly chuckled and I couldnt believe her disregard for her son's choices.

"I- wel-" I had no answer.

"My son, has to run around the country, protecting you from a mad man when he could be making millions, sitting in an office." I was shocked. This was a safehouse?

"I'm sorry."

"Well, the coffee's ready. I can promise, it's perfect." Jace chimed, walking out of the kitchen, with three, plain red cups of coffee in a brown weaved tray.

"I should be going. I just lost my appetite for anything." She scrunched her fingers showing her disgust and I moved out of her way. She walked with poise, cold in her movements. No goodbye, just a whooshing down of door opening and then a clicking of an umbrella popping up. Before we could turn. She was gone. We were both quiet as we heard a car roar and drift away.

"What did she say?" Jace walked to me, with hands cupping my cheeks.

I moved out of his grasp and ran to the kitchen. It was a beautiful small kitchen, with dark blue granite counters, almost six cabinets floating up. A silver double door fridge and a microwave levitating with one shelf beside it. I turned the black stove on and looked for a frying pan. Jace opened the farthest cabinet and pulled out a small black one. He gave it to me with a stern face and I took it.

"Selene what did she say?" He practically whined this time.

"Why are we here, Jace?" I turned to him, freezing him a couple inches away from me.

"Um, to spend time together. We just got married Selene." He lied so easily. His face had a nervous smile and he was scared of what to do.

"Put a shirt on." I pushed him away but he took my hands and forced me to face.

"We're here because that bastard Aaron has been scouting your place. I moved your roommate to a safe place in my building and brought you here because he wants both of us and I dont know in which order." His hands held my cheeks tightly now, "Either way, I'm not risking anything." He released me and I gasped.

"Jace, I dont need protection. You do." I hissed.

"We are both isolated and safe here. I didnt know what to do Selene. I've struggling with that asshole and I could not let you see my stuttering side!" He yelled. His helplessness was vivid in that glisten in his eyes. He was scared.

"And how are we safe in such a remote area, huh?" I grit my teeth. He took my hand and pulled me close to him. I tried to move out but his hand was keeping me glued to him. He picked up the intercom, plugged near the silver toaster. Dialing a number, he brought it to his ear.

"Target me, back window." He spoke so sternly and I was breathing hard.

"What? What do you mean target you?" I started panicking. My fears were confirmed when a red laser dot appeared on Jace's chest.

"Oh, God. Stop it." I moved head in front of the place where the doot supposedly had been and hugged him with all my strength.

"Thank you, dismiss." He ordered and I heard him cut the call.

"I'm sorry." I started crying so hard that I didnt even realize how many tears were breaking through my tear ducts. He moved a bit and soon, I felt myself being lifted up in his arm. He took us out to the lounge and turned on the fireplace. Placing a kiss on my forehead, he went back to the kitchen with defeat.

I felt horrible.

After fifteen minutes of my extra crying and panicking, he walked back out with yet another tray, designed with three white plates. One had a bunch of scrambled eggs on it, the other had some sausages and two pieces of toast. There was a salt and pepper shaker in the tray as well and one empty plate held two forks.

I didnt wait for him to sit and jumped on him. He caught me while wrapping my legs around his waist. I kissed him so passionately that breathing became a foreign thought to us.

"I'm sorry." I cried, releasing his lips.

"Its okay." He sat down, with me still on top of him, "I'd do anything for you, just remember that." With that he took me in for another kiss, taking all my fears away.
