Chapter 35

Selene:

We'd been hiding out at the cabin for a week. There were no more visits from anyone and no threats occurring. As for Jace and I, we didnt even know where the time went. We were too taken up by the activities we enjoyed, day and night. He was perfect. My Jace was the perfect man. Everything was well settled in his mind and not once did he let anything rattle my brain.

It was a good Saturday morning and I was just finishing up showering when there was a knock on the door.

"I'll be out soon." I called out, doing a final rinse of my body. I smiled at all hickeys at different points. Some had turned yellow due to the healing mechanisms, while most were still blue. It's like he wanted them to stay on me so I could remember forever.

Classic Jace Anderson.

"But I'm bored!" He whined through the door and I giggled.

"You're not getting in today. Let me shower!" I argued playfully but he still opened the door. I watched his figure stand still through the translucent white curtains.

"You cant stay away, can you?" I chuckled. Before I could kove the curtain away, a splash of red ran against the material of it.

"No!" I screamed, pulling the open the curtain but holding it against my body to hide. Aaron stood with a pale face and readiness of anger. Jace was on the floor with blood gushing out from his throat.

"No!" I cried, falling back into the slippery bath tub. His face was pale and beautiful calm in his brown eyes was gone. He laid so lifeless with a wide mouth.

"Baby, no." I shut my eyes and cried with my breath choking me. He was gone.

"Please no." I shook my head in denial of Aaron's presence. He walked with the knife in his hand, looking like the grim reaper.

"Jace... no." I cried as Aaron's figure towered me.

"You should've chosen me." He leaned down and I let myself be taken to my death.

"Selene!" A yell woke me up and I found Jace hovering over me with a worried look marring his face. He was holding my shoulders and sitting on the bed on his knees.

"Jace, you're... you're..." I cried sitting up and taking him in an embrace.

"Baby, you scared me." He cooed holding my head with one hand and body with the other. I plastered myself to him, making sure no other soul touch him.

"I'm sorry." I cried on his shoulders, my sobs came out like painful panting.

"Baby, ease out." Jace carried me on him and sat on bed. His legs were crossed and arms tight around me.

"Please dont leave me." I cried and his hold toughened around me.

"Never."

After hours of consoling my weak ass, he got me to have lunch in the lounge with him, wher tried making lasagna. Thankfully, the meat was cooked this time. The pasta, well, I couldnt say the same for that. He made faces whine trying to chew but I made him eat with me.

He was working on his laptop and I had my bent legs in his lap, to be able to near his face and feed him.

"Stop it. Its gross." He kept whining and I fore fed him, more and more.

"Are you even eating?" He once asked me during and i laughed out, falling back in the couch.

"Torturer." He accused and shoved a bigger bite in his mouth. He groaned, bitting into it and I swear I heard a crunching sound in his mouth.

"Tooth or pasta?" I stifled my laughter and he smacked my knee.

"Whatchu doin'?" I deliberately messed the words that I spoke and a big smile blessed his lips.

"Brooks deal. He wants to lower his share of investment." He rubbed his forehead.

"More than thirty?" I sat up.

"Yeah."

"Shit." I muttered.

"Yep." He sighed.

"So now wh-" I started but a sharp boom outside shocked us both. The plate almost fell out of my hand and I smacked it on the table and jumped up to my feet. Jace shut the laptop and stood behind me, holding my waist in his hand.

"Come on." He breathed in my ear, taking my hand running me to the kitchen. Just as we entered through the door, he turned to our right and opened a maroon small box, plastered in the wooden wall. It was a keypad. He entered a code, I couldnt see because I was too frantic looking around us. He pulled me in a door that clicked open for him.

When I finally gained senses of our surroundings, I saw all silver around us.

"A panic room?" I questioned and he nodded, locking the door, moving back.

"Jace, we cant hide in here forever." I held his shirt's neckline. His tee stretched down to me causing him no problem.

"We have to. As long as needed." He ordered and I walked to the door.

"You cant let innocent people die." I retaliated. I didnt even know what I was saying.

"What? Selene. Relax. No one is dying. I just want to make sure you are safe. Relax!" He looked around the silver room and went to the single bed. Pulling out a drawer from under it, he gave me a black gun that I figured to be a taser one. He didnt carry real ones apparently. Good then.

"Jace, does anyone else know the code to this place?" I pointed my gun the door.

"All the guards." He breathed.

"What?" I swiveled in disbelief.

"What? I didnt set security of this place up." He shrugged.

"You're kidding me. Please tell you are kidding me right now?" I turned with the gun. He raised his hands I realized I was targeting him. That didnt really make me not want to take his ass up.

"Yeah I'm kidding, dude. Only I know the code." He walked to me, suddenly moving from frantic to stern, "And your dad." He winked and I smacked his arm away that was raising to me.

"After I tase that bitch's ass, I'm ruining you." I warned and he hissed.

"False arm." Came a call on the intercom in the panic room. I waited a minute and then nodded for him to open the door. My taser was still out and ready to shoot. He kept his hand steady behind for me to stay alert while he walked out.

He suddenly froze.

I inhaled a deep breath and took steps to him.

"Jace?" I whispered but no response. My gun was still out but eyes were darted away from go something on the right of the door. Panic rose in me and I took wuicker steps. When I reached him, instead of holding his fear, I turned to the direction his eyes were and the gun almost fell from my hands.

Aaron stood with a gun in hands, pointing between Jace and I. His hair were pushed back and he was in a black shirt and pant uniform. I raised my hands slowly.

"Please." I felt my body tremble.

"You said he tortured you." He pointed the gun from to Jace.

"Yes! Yes!" I moved in front of Jace, "He's... awful." It pained me to say that.

Jace:

"He's awful." She said that so easily.

What?

"Then why him?" Aaron's nose twitched in anger.

"He forced me, Aaron." She begged and I was completely losing it. I couldnt tell if she was kidding or serious.

"What?" Aaron's gun raised to my face.

Nope, she definitely wanted me dead.

"Wait, wait." She raised her hands.

"Look at me." She begged and his watered eyes went from me to her.

"Look. At. Me." She took a step to him with every word and I wanted to hold her back.

"He forced you?" Aaron teared up as she reached him and touched his face.

"Yeah. But I'm here now." She hugged him.

What the fuck was going on?

"Selene!" I retaliated and Aaron raised his gun to my body, holding Selene by his side. She mouthed something at me and by the irritation on her face, she was calling me every inappropriate word in book. Heck, when the gun's mouth seemed as round as my eye, so did I cuss at my numb brain.

"Aaron." She placed her hand on his chest and his eyes went for it. He used his arm around her shoulders to push his hand to her bare arm. She was in a really short red onesie and I did not like her so close to another man.

Her eyes drifted partially from him to me as she muttered the next words.

"I love you." My heart dropped but it couldnt stay that way longer when both started shivering and writhing, falling to the ground. She tased him, with no care of herself in the reach of it.

"No, no, no!" I cried trying to pull her away from him. I didnt know what to do, except for the taze to finish. Running to the intercom in the kitchen, I dialled for emergency.

Selene:

My head ached like a hundred drums beating on the inside of my skull. I held it, taking in my surroundings. All grey walls, a hospital bed under me and some machines beeping beside me.

"What?"

"You really couldnt find another way to take him down, could you?" A disappointed voice echoed in the room and I looked to my left, finding Jace with his hand under his chin and elbow resting under on his knee.

"Well you weren't of much help either, dear hubby." I groaned, sitting up and winced at the ache in my head.

"You had a seizure, Selene." He inhaled a deep breath and I froze. There was the scare bigger than a gun to my head.

"And..."

"And, what? You're alive. All's fine." He waved his hand, standing up and walking to me. The bed slumped as he sat beside me and took my hand in his.

"Aaron's taken into custody, and well... your dad's pissed so I'm enjoying that. As for the cabin, it's been secured and you and I go back home after this." He shook his head, not matching my eyes.

"Jace, I'm sorry." I bit my lip.

"Dont be, you did what you wanted to do. It was part of your tactics and... whatever." He looked away, still shaking his head.

"I'm sorry. I didnt know what to do in the moment Jace." I wrapped my other hand on top of his, "It was either me or a bullet in you." I breathed and he leaned in placing a small kiss on my forehead.

"Again?" I pouted and he laughed before leaning in with a kiss on my lips this time.
