The Heart Tells Part 1

The threatening words he had planned to subdue the Demon King were sealed tight in his mouth. So Eun quivered when a fragment of broken images flashed in his eyes, and when he looked again, he saw the face of the person he had dreamed of before.

The allies of the Emperor couldn't pounce because their hands and bodies are bound by the evil wisps. So they can only look helplessly when the beloved Emperor is still in the hands of the Demon King.

After So Eun joined the scene, they momentarily breathe properly when he stood up and took the initiative to stop Han Min before he beheads Yang Shen.

Everyone froze in their spot, silently observing the scene while bracing themselves once Han Min counterattack.

However, when Han Min looked at So Eun, it wasn't just the three of them who also stopped, the roaring fire gradually dissipates and vanished.

So Eun quit looking after the Emperor when he saw the rage of flame in Han Min's eyes faded away. And the person who's in his mission to find is right there in front of him.

Before, when he tried to recognize the person lurking in his sanity, he couldn't glimpse anything aside from a silhouette and a blurred face. But then, in his current situation seeing the Demon King up close, So Eun didn't expect to vividly saw a boy, in suffering agony, who lost everything.

Right after that, an impulse got to him, and he pushed down on his sword, he retracted Han Min's sword away from Yang Shen's throat.

So Eun planned to do things swiftly, as the two opposing sides wouldn't let a nobody decides things on his own, especially if it's for his purpose.

So he sealed his mouth shut, and gently pushed Han Min off from the Emperor, to run away is his plan, more or so, a plan who came from his instincts.

Han Min didn't refuse, as if he was captivated by a spell casts by So Eun. And the other was very worried about that, and at the same time hoping for the best because his scandalous actions didn't provoke Han Min yet.

"I shall act fast before he cleaved off my head first." So Eun internally panicked.

But despite that, Han Min was still dazed, his eyes never leave So Eun's. His presence alone let out a reaction for the first time in years. Thus, why everyone was dumbfounded.

Except for So Eun who failed to notice when he was troubled in plotting their escape. Then soon after realized that his ominous omen isn't the meeting with the Adrift Soul Demon. Clashing between the Emperor and the Demon King is enough to transmit him onto his third life.

Sweats had formed on his forehead, and So Eun beat himself to it because he knew they were never going to escape so effortlessly. When they're halfway on their tracks, leading Han Min who didn't even budge, Yang Shen's sword fiercely pounced forward.

So Eun felt the Emperor wanted to kill the Demon King at the sight of him dropping off his guard. But then he acknowledged So Eun's tactics, in instinct, was to evade Han Min away for The Emperor to attack right then. Because there's no way a God would help a Demon King!

And in the first place, the Emperor and his allies came to do one thing-- to kill and torment Han Min for his immorality.

But So Eun, himself doesn't want to do that. Not when he wants to talk to Han Min first.

So he obeyed his instincts and pushed on the Demon King's chest, only for him to blocked between them and received the sword.

An urge to act came swiftly as if something had possessed him. After that, an overwhelming pain pierced his stomach, and the last thing he knew was his body goes limp and strong arms caught him from behind, before his vision blanked out, consciousness drifting away.

The next time his vision came back, his heart was beating so fast while the moon welcomed him in his slumber.

So Eun looked around, the scenery was filled with black, that it almost got nothing to behold, but amidst the shadow looming, he saw a boy who was roaming on his own.

Alone and weak.

The more he tried to spot the boy's face, the least the chances he was getting, and he didn't expect the tightening of his chest when the darkness completely engulfs the whole land as well as the boy.

Countless evil spirits were cornering him. And this time, his heart had stopped beating.

Long before So Eun realized what was happening, his heart suddenly leaped when a thing was injected above his stomach, and he looked down.

It was a sword, penetrating him to death.

The next time he tried to make out the person holding the sword, So Eun's met with bright light blocking his vision.

(past childhood starts here.)

After a while, distinct voices came from outside his room, barely pinpointing the words as he's still heavy with sleep. His blurry vision restrained him from observing his room, so he instinctively sits up in his lying position.

Atop his bed, translucent drapes were cascading down the edge to make an aesthetic detail. It dawns a warm feeling and delicate sight when he wakes up. Of all interior structure in the So Clan's, his Father had long confirmed that So Eun's room is the most important to maintain at peace and out of reach for hazards. With the way his room was comfortably designed just for him, the So Clan Leader's one and only child.

He caressed his head, seeming to be light-headed than usual. His fingers stopped when he didn't felt his smooth and soft skin, only the surface of a drenched fabric, resting on his forehead.

So Eun held the white cloth to examine, and only then remembered why did he catch a fever. After a while, he attempted to leave his bed to look for his mother outside, but then the wooden door open before him.

It revealed his Mother, So Shan, the So Clan's Leader alongside his Husband. Her white silky robe hugged her slim body, as she walked towards So Eun's bed. So Eun looked up at her and beamed, assuming that his parents wouldn't go out for a night hunting today, because of the dress she usually wore inside their home.

"So Eun, how are you feeling?" Her lavish dress followed her behind and sat at the bed. So Eun tried to get out of the bed and talk to her properly, but then his Mother's hands stopped him midway.

"Don't get up. Don't push yourself too soon." She instructed gently, patting his back a few times before tucking the duvet on his waist.

"Mom, I-I... This time I couldn't remember what happened." So Eun started, snatching a side glance at his Mother.
