A Night With You Part 2

So Eun caught his breath, and he inhaled sharply when the other trapped his wrist just beside his head.

He barely processed how he moved so quickly and clattered his thoughts unexpectedly. Han Min changed their positions with a hand on his wrist and another on his shoulder. The Demon King meets his eye for a second before it glides behind himself.

He wandered his eyes behind, appearing like he was looking for someone in the room. That made So Eun believe that he's looking for Yun Hwa. Although, he didn't confirm if the other was still there, sleeping.

The proximity between them was so close, and So Eun completely loses his words at this point.

And before he finds the right words, Han Min lifted his hand that was previously resting on his shoulder.

The other clicked his fingers and the lamp above them suddenly flickered, before it magically dimmed, the brightness slowly getting darker.

This time, his patience is worn-out alongside his heart beating rapidly. So Eun tried to struggle within his grasp, but he ended up regretting it.

Han Min turned his head to look at him, and he swore that their noses almost touched. Instead of saying anything, the other was also struck in his spot.

So Eun was even more flustered and confused that he dearly wished for the wall to swallow him alive.

The silence was too loud when they look at each other, to the point that So Eun tried to scoot backward. Silently hoping that the wall would give him enough space to move.

Han Min was stunned too, his eyes slightly widened before he fluttered his lashes to look down.

"We are the only two in here." His voice was quiet, but So Eun swore that he can already hear his own heart beating through his ears.

The other was equally flustered, but he felt that he wasn't really minding his words at this very moment. And So Eun couldn't exaggerate how his eyes were widely open the whole time.

For what felt like hours, Han Min looked at him and was welcomed with his flustered face. His brows gradually lifted along with his eyes widening.

Then he lets go of his wrist as if he's been burned.

Han Min blinked. Holding both of his own hands before speaking in a strained voice.

"Yun Hwa isn't here. I think he left, and he's yet to come back."

So Eun was staring at him the whole time and still didn't catch his words before the other was speaking again.

"I heard a rattle in my sleep from outside, and when I couldn't grasp Yun Hwa's energy, I knew he wasn't here." Han Min began explaining but didn't move in front of him. He's still intimately close to him that So Eun tried with all his might to focus.

"The moment I sense someone sneakily coming inside that certainly wasn't Yun Hwa. I tried to wake up, and I saw you." He avoided his eyes again.

"I acted on my instincts. I'm sorry, did I hurt you?"

At this point, So Eun tried, even more, to deny the soft tone of his voice as if he's being utmost treasured. And that thought of him made his heart violently jump.

But the absolute ache he felt when he finally processed his words was a lot more terrifying.

Han Min acted on his instincts to protect him? Is that why he acted that way? Just what in the world is going on?

He caught his tongue and mindlessly forgot what he was about to say, the other proceeded to gaze at his hand.

"Someone's still lurking outside. Fortunately, he heard something inside and didn't open the door." He's speaking as if the small gap between them isn't bothering him in the slightest.

And finally, for how many times he attempted to respond, So Eun spoke, voice hoarse and quiet.

"It's okay. Just surprised is all." The other nodded and slightly move back to sit in front of him. So Eun had the chance to breathe deeply and hope that his heart would calm down just for a second.

Yet skimming over the fact that he was still blocking him from the door, reminds him of the scene earlier with Jaebin.

He shook his head and glanced over the door before putting his attention on Han Min.

"How did you know?" Han Min glanced at him and situated himself in front.

"I just sense it. He's not a deity, obviously not a mortal too. A Demon would likely suit the impression."

"Is that so? Then I'll show off my spiritual aura and stand by the door. Hopefully, that would screw him off." He tried to lessen the awkwardness, but the other sitting in front, immediately spoke.

"No." He looked at him with a cold stare before it softens into something that So Eun doesn't want to delve into.

Han Min proceeded to stand up and dusted off his robes, "I'll check outside. Stay behind me."

He gestured for him to stay put and reached the lamp hanging above them. So Eun stood up too and ignored his sudden dizziness, trailing over behind him.

"You didn't notice Yun Hwa wasn't in his bed?"

He asked, back facing him, and continued to adjust something by the door.

Behind him, So Eun just gulped. Well, he tried to replace the candle and saw him not sleeping properly, although he momentarily forgot the other man, which explains well how he's paying more attention to Han Min.

After he exceeded the thought, he felt his face was heating up.

This mind of him always betrayed and expose him.

Face-palming in the process, he saw the other between his fingers turned around to look at him, and yet before he lets him see his flushed face, he mindlessly reached out and played with the rusted hook above.

He doesn't have to look if the other has that puzzled look on his face, he's already certain of it.

But for now, he has to hide his blooming face after what happened. He goes on and spoke, "This looks so interesting."

Han Min didn't speak nor agreed, but he does move and stood in front of him.

"That was a few years old, what makes it so interesting."

He sounds so serious that So Eun had to look at his face, turns out the other isn't checking the thing either and was paying attention to him instead.

Showing his left eye with the right hiding behind his sleeve. So Eun mentally laughed at himself while he reached out to the hook. In between blushing and hiding, he tried to change the subject.

Yet before he says something, the rustle outside was not subtle anymore. It transformed into footsteps that walked slowly, and only stopped behind the door. So Eun felt the chills spread through his back and finally put his hand down.

Han Min on the other side appeared expressionless, his face only changing when he turned around to glare at the door.

"It isn't Yun Hwa." With those dragging steps alone, it was more of a ghoul lurking.

Han Min lifted his hand by the doorknob and opened the door.

So Eun was horrified and instantly reached out to stop him, but then, what welcomed them was the freezing morning breeze, gusts of cold wind suffocating their faces.

The lamp on his hand went out and darkened the whole area.

Han Min didn't seem to mind the light flickering out, he put it aside and sidestepped to the hut to fetch something in Yun Hwa's bed.

"What is it? They're gone?" So Eun has no idea what he's doing now, but when the other's tense shoulders loosened, he knew it was safe to venture outside.

And so he walked outside the hut, the waking sun brightening up the horizon. From deep in his instincts, the essence of evil was nowhere to be found despite the footsteps they heard behind the door.

He held both of his hands and tried to shove them into his sleeves. Looking around and observing the surrounding, from where they left it the night before, something tells him that nothing was wrong.

But the thought of Yun Hwa leaving was still unknown, and the only thing that felt amiss.

He planned to find the young man and proceeded to sigh in relief, getting surprised at the puff of breath that came out. So Eun was originally feeling the breeze, but after standing outside, the temperature made his fingers shake. Already proves the fact that winter's arriving.

The moment he felt his whole body shiver, Han Min trailed over and stopped in front of him.

The thing in his hands made his brows furrow.

"A scarf? What are you gonna do with that--" His words were cut off when Han Min silently wrapped the scarf around his neck up to his head. Completely covering his face.

His eyes slightly widened and were pretty grateful to the cloth blocking his heating face.

"I told you to stay behind me." The other uttered softly and snorted, which made So Eun hurriedly move the cloth to look at him.

Did he just laugh?

He lowered the scarf wrapped around his chin and gaze at him.

The other had his brow raised and his arms crossed. In that handsome face of him was a smirk trying to suppress a laugh. So Eun was stunned.

He didn't know if the sun was brighter or this Demon King's smile.
