Exactly 30 minutes later,
"The Third trial will now begin, I now ask everyone to take a seat, you'll sit and you won't be allowed to speak, leave your seat, sleep or even lie down on your seat, you have to remain awake whilst sitting on your seat, you can leave at any moment. This is a trial of patience so you should remember that the longer you stay in the temple, the better your results will be."
Ye Feng was surprised, this might be the easiest trial there was, yet, he seemingly understood what was the purpose of this trial, cultivation was a long and tiring activity, even Ye Feng previously couldn't handle doing that, yet, after having realized his purpose, he was more than ready to wait for even a full day.
Time slowly went by, nobody made a sound after the first few Furbuns that did get kicked out, some were quickly getting drowsy and tried their best to fight their sleepiness, some would slowly fall into their slumber before being picked out by an elder and woken up before heading back home, some that lied down also had the same result.
Ye Feng estimated that it took around 1 hour for the first few Furbuns that got so bored that they decided to leave on their own, following the first one, many decided to do the same, it seemed they were all waiting for one person to leave for the whole pack to follow.
As time passed, more and more Furbuns left the Temple, by the time Ye Feng saw the first ray of sunlight appearing, there were only a few Furbuns, the rate of Furbun leaving was lowered to about 1 every 10 minutes, at this rate, in 4 hours, there'd only be Ye Feng left.
Unfortunately, 4 hours had passed yet there were still 2 Furbuns left in the Temple, Ye Feng and another unknown Furbun, at this point, Ye Feng realized that this was also a sort of trial of will, at this point, they would have to fight sleepiness and their hunger for them to stay on their seat.
It took another hour for the last Furbun to leave, he looked at Ye Feng meaningfully before hopping out of the Temple, seeing he was alone Ye Feng remained quiet and looked at the approaching Elder Yi,
"Ye Feng, it seems I have to congratulate you for reaching the first place in the ceremony, follow me to receive your reward."
"Wait... I have a question, what would happen when Humans got to know the location of an Underground village?"
Ye Feng asked, this was something he pondered on whilst he was undergoing the trial, Elder Yi stopped in his track and said with a sigh,
"Humans are greedy creatures, they use the life of others for the sake of strengthening themselves, you might say we also do the same thing, yet, we have bottom lines, Humans don't, within our people, there are some that can like Humans or even beasts that would be considered our enemies, yet Humans has a deep-rooted thirst for power within their bones, they have no limits for that power. If they got their hands on the location of an underground village, then..." he turned around and gazed at Ye Feng, "They would tell their entire clan and massacre the whole village for the sake of our brains..."
Ye Feng was puzzled and said,
"What's in our brains? Why would they want it?"
"As you know, we are innately born with Mental Power, whereas, only a few Humans are born with Mental Power, our brains have the ability to strengthen their Mental Power to defend against Mental attacks, our brains can even allow some to awaken the ability to control their Mental Power. However, although it depends on the talent of each, it takes on average 1.000 Furbuns to allow one human to awaken the ability to control their Mental Power. They sometimes also keep some of our kinds to breed more Furbuns thus granting a continued supply of Brains. Most if not all of the Humans that have mastery over Mental Power have gotten it through our brains. With this, how could we not hate them? In the last hundreds of years, there has been no recorded human that had a good relation with Furbuns... Not a single one!"
Ye Feng ingrained in his mind what Elder Yi told him, he remembered Chu Yixue and Liu Erlong that he had killed before and reaffirmed the fact that what he did was right, since they decided to mark him, they obviously wanted to find the underground village for the sake of awakening or strengthening their Mental Power.
He took in a deep breath and slowly followed behind Elder Yi who led him to a corner of the podium then revealed a secret stairway, after following him down the stairway, he was met with the sight of an extremely small chest, Elder Yi opened it, revealing a small golden heart with red outline, Elder Yi took it out and gave it to Ye Feng,
"Eat it."
He said to Ye Feng, who didn't eat it directly, and started inspecting it before putting it in his mouth, it felt like a piece of sugar as it directly disintegrated in his mouth, he swallowed and felt that the extremely small pieces of the golden heart gathered where the immense ball of energy was, the golden heart reformed before absorbing the immense ball of energy, it grew bigger and bigger before the energy disappeared.
He then opened the System Prompt and pressed [Yes], his luck bar rose until he reached the next level and then stopped at around 10%, he had now reached the [Fated to Live A Hard Life] rank, he estimated it to be the last negative rank of Luck.
He then opened his Attribute Panel and looked at what had changed, in the talent area, the 'None' was changed to 'Peak-Heaven Spirit Root', he nodded, it seemed that the golden pill he had eaten previously was truly amazing, making his Low-Heaven Spirit Root reach the level of Peak-Heaven.
