CHAPTER 24 - GIVE UP

Tosh and Hoax are busy grilling the bear's meat. Friean is still crying and Meta was kinda shocked. Rex and Ace were sitting beside David trying to console him and stopping him to blame himself.

"That would result in no good, David. You did nothing wrong. You have guarded Snow very well. We all saw that. It was just that, we can't prevent the things that are meant to happen. No one is at fault. You should calm down now and go with us to continue and end this shitty training, okay?" Roi said while standing in front of him.

David sighed, "I guess I have to do to my best to leave this island alive. That is the least I can do for Snow, to receive the punishment that the Emperor will give to me. In that way, I can be at ease," he looked at Ace, "I guess there is no point of seeing you as a rival now. I really don't want to act like that in front of you, you know."

"Stop it, yeah, I already know. Snow told me everything. I hope you've understood her. She did it for you, David. I admire her bravery for that," Ace tapped him.

"But it is too late now to thank her. I became selfish and did not hear her side. I have been blinded by my anger. I can't thank my very best friend for thinking of me even she knows she'll be in great trouble with her father," David covered his face.

Rex smiled, "I can feel that Snow will rest in peace now that you have forgiven her. It really sad to think that you two didn't get the chance to bond again while she's here."

"I will make sure to get rid of that Lady Samson. I know she can do something to help Snow but she didn't come. She said she will come, but she didn't. I really trusted her in that one, I got so disappointed," David was looking far away as if he can see someone but when all the other boys look in that direction they found none.

"Hey! The food is ready!" Tosh shouted.

Friean looked at it and said, "It doesn't look bad, huh? If Snow can see this she wouldn't have eaten that effin' leaf!"

"Is that the bear's meat?" Meta was quite shocked.

"Yeah, is there something wrong? Don't worry, we did not kill that," Hoax explained right away.

Meta almost fell into the ground but luckily, Rex hurriedly catch her. She shooked her head and then she runs away.

"We need to get her!" Rex was about to run when Friean stopped him.

"Just let her breathe for a moment. I heard that her pet bear died in front of her before coming here. That bear was very important to her, she'll come back. She promised, right?" and Friean looked at her.

Rex sighed, "Okay, I'll stay. I just hope that our group can get through this. We don't deserve this kind of situation. It is very traumatic!"

"I agree with that," Tosh said, "But in my case, I am very much used to this kind of scenario. I have seen more than these. Eat up! Before the meat goes cold, I bet that she won't eat that."

They finished the meat and the sun is about to set. Meta wasn't coming back yet.

��I guess we should find Meta before it gets totally dark. It's quite dangerous. She is still a girl after all," Rex said while fixing his self, getting ready to find Meta.

Ace looked around and then stopped at Rex's position, "I agree with that. Let's go? Let's search for her together. I'll be your backup," Ace playfully smiled at Rex.

When the two were gone, Friean let out a deep sigh.

"What with that?" Mave asked and sat beside her.

Friean faked her laugh, "That what?" and rolled her eyes.

"Tell me now. I already know what is the real score between you two. Stop lying or else I will tell it to everybody," Mave warned her.

"Woah!" Friean covered her mouth, "Do I have to be threatened by that? Who cares if everybody will know it? You are such a gossiper!"

Mave stand up, "Why? What is bad about gossiping? Many people do that especially to personalities like us. But it helps gain popularity."

"You are such a baby, Mave! Come back here and sit down," Mave hurriedly sat down, "I already given up Rex, since there is no point in holding on to. We were siblings, and in any perspective, we will look at it, it is very wrong to have a relationship with him."

"Plus, it was only you who likes him, right?" Mave added.

Friean pushed her, "Don't be like that, it still hurt here," she pointed at her heart, "I can feel that he likes Meta. He was very impressed with how Meta deals with everything," she paused and look into Mave's eyes, "That is why I hate her. Because I can see how Rex looks at her. It is very different in how he looks at me and it is freaking me out. But now, I have decided that it would be useless to hate her, Rex wouldn't like me back too, I'm his little sister after all."

Mave moved closer to her and hugged her, "I am glad you made the right choice. You are now a grown-up. Rex is so lucky to have you as his sister," he let go of Friean, "You are a strong woman. You will be a great wife too. Just be a good sister to Rex. Stop giving him a hard time," they both laughed.

Friean sighed, "I hope he'll find someone that could make him happy. All his life, he suffered. For all I know, he just didn't complain. He did not know anything, me too that's why I fell for him. He was a great man, believe me, Mave."

"Believe me too, Princess. I believe you. We can all see that. The way he handles all of this is truly amazing. I just hope that we can sooner leave this place."
