One thing that I was goddamn sure that if I worked anymore my neck will break anytime soon. That is the last thing I want for me right now. I stretched my hand a little but the burning pain was shooting through my whole body. So, I decided to go to the cafeteria for some coffee. The day was indeed hectic!
I sat on the table near the window enjoying my latte slowly. Being a loner was always that bad..trust me on this.
"Excuse me, Can I sit here?"A girl around my age broke my trance from the earlier incident. Although I was feeling awkward, I didn't let it showcase on my face.
"Sure," I said. Inside my head, I was not completely sure because making conversation was not something I was good at. Therefore, feeling like shit was natural for me!
"I am Charlotte Adams by the way. You can call me Charlie." That girl was grinning from ear to ear God knows why.
YOU SHOULDN'T BE THIS RUDE LAVENDER!! My inner self was irritated with me for sure.
"I am Lavender Crescent. The newbie... I guess" Her smile broadened at my words.
"So you will be working on Satan's office from now and then, Aven. So tell me how you liked our sex god?! Don't break my hope by telling me that you didn't notice." She pouted at my dehydrated expression.
"He is...plain rude and also not my type." Her eyes widen as if she couldn't believe what I was talking about.
"I guess you are the first one didn't comment on how hot he was or how sexy it does look when he talks. You knocked my hopes out, Ms. Crescent." She grinned at me.
"I wish not to Ms. Adams. I will soon try to notice those things so that we can fangirl together." I smiled. Though she was totally out of her mind, one thing I was so sure that she was not sane just like me and will be great buddies. I looked at my watch and noticed that I was running late.
" I have to go now Charlie otherwise my life will be on the edge. See you later." She nodded understandingly and smiled, "Just hit the jackpot, my girl." Though I didn't understand what she was talking about I knew that was not good for my health. I smiled at her and turned on my heels quickly thinking how my boss of Satan will kill me because of my tardiness. I guess making friends wasn't that hard.

The rest of the evening went well as the SATAN didn't bother me. I was on the elevator of my house when my phone buzzed and it was my father. I received the call but didn't say a word. There was pure silence on the other side too.
"How are you doing Lavender?" He sighed deeply. He knew me too well once upon a time but not anymore. Otherwise, he would not have to ask.
"Come to the point." I know my reply was plain rude but they deserved the worst.
"Your sister is going to join you after several months. She needs to learn about handling business too." The blood on my vein was burning with pure anger and disgust. He realized everything they did to me but chose to ignore that.
"Step-sister," I stated simply.
"You shouldn't over-react every time we talk. Grow up a little." I could say he wasn't even trying to hide the anger for me.
"As if I care." I mocked, "and don't tell me when to grow up and when to not, after all these years. You shouldn't give a damn about me so suddenly. It's like a shocking therapy for me." I was not in the mood to argue anymore.
"You shouldn't..." I didn't let him finish, "Are you done?" I was both frustrated and tired.
"Yeah, Good night." His sigh got deeper.
Unlocking my apartment, I went inside feeling all lonely and sad and some memories came flooding.
It was midnight. I had to work all the household chores all day long. My full body was aching. The fever was going high without a break. Everything in front of me was hazy. My head was pounding as if it would break anytime soon. I was crying for mom, dad. As a kid, it was a habit for everyone. I heard my dad's voice outside after so long. He had gone for business for two months. I wanted to run into his arms. I didn't have the strength to run. I was outworn in pain. Still, gathering all my hopes together, I waited for him to come. But he never came... I was crying in pain, but no one eases the pain away, not even tried to do so. I heard them laughing, eating, playing with my step-sister. He didn't even bother. Now, I was too tired to bother.
