“Tell me why he can’t know then.” 


Kevin leaned in to her and whispered in her ear, “Because I’m afraid he’ll take your life away from you. And not like he did before.” 


Tabitha turned her head towards him in shock. Their lips connected for just a brief moment. Tabitha felt electricity shoot through her. She quickly pulled away and looked at him, her fingers going to her lips. His eyes were now on her mouth. He looked like he wanted to kiss her fully and she couldn’t let that happen. She stood up and cleared her throat. 


“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean for that to happen.” 


“I’m not sorry it happened. Think about what I said.” 


“I will,” Tabitha said as she walked off.
