6. Trust

"How has your stay been?" Donna says

"Alright. Until now." I say with a bland face.

She sighs before answering "I understand that you might be a bit uncomfortable, giving the circumstances of you being here." she says with a small smile on her face.

"I know you're trying to lighting the mood, but it's not working." I say as I cross my arms taking a look around the office.

"Do you like what you see?" she says

"Don't get me wrong, but that sounds almost very wrong." I say

Donna ignores me. "Maybe we should focus on your dreams." she says patiently.

"Naah I think I'm good." I say nonchalantly

"I heard it's keeping you up at night." she looks at me straight in the eyes."

"Of course you did." I say looking away and scoffing."

I am so pissed right now. I can't believe Samantha would do something like this. I swear I can never trust her again.

Earlier Today ...

Narrator's POV

***********************************

Immediately after their first class Amira was held back by her chemistry teacher, along with Jonathan. While Samantha left saying she had to use the restroom.

"I'll see you later then." Samantha says leaving the classroom nervously.

"Um...okay." Amira says to her. "You want to see me." she says as she and Jonathan walk to the teacher's table

"Yes." the teacher says

"And why am I here?" Jonathan says

"I checked the history of your chemistry grades Amira. It's not as good as the rest of your other subjects."

"Your point." Amira mutters, clearly embarrassed that Jonathan had to hear that.

He chuckles silently to himself.

"Seeing as you're very good at the subject. You will be tutoring and partnering up with Miss Dermas for the rest of the semester." she says talking to Jonathan

"What?" the two students yell at once.

"Miss you know I don't do partners. Principal Brown allowed it since junior year." he argues

"Well this is my class. You are the only ones in my class without partners. It's only fitting that you end up as partners. Therefore you both shall become ONE." she says the last part with a sinister smile on her face.

Both students are clearly creeped out and confused.

"Besides I'm not going to let any of my students fail my class, just because of your status in this school Mr. Coleman. If you do not want to fail, I suggest you please comprehend." she says as she gets her things off her desk.

"Is that a threat?" Jonathan says as he places both of his hands on the table with an authoritative aura.

The teacher not threatened by his response says nothing but smiles.

"Look Miss Leah I don't think it's really a good idea for the two of us to be partnered up. We don't really get along." Amira says

"How about we make a deal since you two don't want to cooperate. The sooner Amira gets better at chemistry, the sooner you get you two get to be at each others' sides less hmm." she starts heading out of the class.

"I suggest you start with the tutoring." with that she leaves the class.

An annoyed Jonathan storms out of the class. Amira follows behind thinking. 'How childish.'

"So what did she mean by your status ?" Amira asks from behind him in the hallway.

"I mean I know you're popular and all, but come on. The staff too. You must be some kind of dirty criminal." she continues once she gets beside him.

He stops to stare at her. "What are you getting at?"

They both pause for a while lost in each others eyes. Their hearts suddenly start racing and they both start feeling a very strong pull and connection towards themselves.

"Hey babe." a loud voice calls, as footsteps heads to their direction.

Amira and Jonathan snap out of their trance completely confused about what just occurred.

"Babe?!"

"Hey Rachel." Jonathan says, getting his posture back.

"Where were you? I waited by your locker." she says as she kisses his cheek.

Amira stands there a bit confused.

"Who is this?" Rachel asks

"Amira Dermas?!" another voice calls out.

They all turn to look at who spoke.

"May I speak with you. In my office." Principal Brown says

Amira follows him without saying a word, then turns her head back to see the couple looking at her, before looking forward.

"Why were you with her?" Rachel asks, putting her hands on Jonathan's chest.

"Uh Leah called us back." he says looking down at her

"Why?"

He sighs before answering. "She wants me to tutor her."

"Oh...That's not an issue." she says as she entangles her hand in his and the walk down the hall to his locker.

"Yeah, except she wants us to partner up."

"But you never partner up."

"That's what I said. She just gets on my nerves." he grumbles

"Don't let her bring your mood down. She's always been like that you know." she says once they get to his locker and rests on the locker beside it.

"Yeah I know. Whatever, it's only for the rest of this half term." he says exchanging his books.

In the principal's office

Amira follows the principal into his office, wandering if she did anything wrong.

"I don't believe I've done anything wrong to be in here." she says right before entering.

Once she gets into the office she meets a familiar face sitting in one of the chairs. "Samantha? What's going on? Are you okay? Did something happen?"

"Please take a seat Miss Dermas. Nothing is wrong. You're not in trouble." Mr. Brown says

Amira takes a seat and waits for someone to explain anything.

"The reason I called you here is because something has been brought to my attention." he says

Amira looks at Samantha confused, but Sam looks away.

"Sam has brought to my attention that you are having dreams keeping you up at night."

"What?!!" Amira yells, turning to face Samantha. "You did what?!!"

"I'm sorry I just thought you might need help-"

"Help!!" she stands up abruptly "How is this any of your problem. I mean a share something personal with you and you rat me out!!"

"Miss Dermas, please take your sit. There is no need to be loud. The counsellor has decided to help you. She will meet with you shortly"

"With all due respect. I don't need strangers prying in my personal matter."

"I think I should leave." Samantha says nervously as she gets up from the chair gradually.

'So now you want to leave uhn. Now you don't have anything to say. You had so much to say before, but I guess you're done" Amira says not being able to look at Samantha.

"Amira I'm sorry."

"Yeah me too."
