10. Full Moon I

Amira's POV

It's a full moon tonight- The first full moon in a while. I've always loved how it stood out when the sky would be clear without the stars. It's quite the sight.

I'm currently standing by the window. I can't get any sleep again. It's getting frustrating.

Having the same damn dream is extremely annoying. I just want to go to bed and dream about ice creams or hunky men and not some weird wolf and forest.

It's the same things I see -Me in a red dress, running in a beautiful mystical forest. There's a waterfall and a wolf with me, like it's guarding me. Honestly I'm not sure what to think. Right now the best thing for me to do is to not get any sleep.

I hear some shuffling outside our room. I turn my head around away from the window, as if there is someone behind me. I look at Samantha to make sure she's still sleeping. She hasn't moved in hours. It's like she isn't even there or she's dead or something.

I walk to the door. I open it slightly, peeking outside to see who it is. I see some girls going to the stairs.

"Where are they going?" I whisper to myself.

I see Rachel and the girls leaving as well. I step out of the room to follow them. Slightly I close the door. Once I step out I feel the cold floor beneath my feet. I wince silently.

I look down at the ground and realize that I left the room without shoes. The rug in the room is so comfortable that I don't have to wear socks or shoes.

I continue walking still very curious, not caring if I might get in trouble.

It's quite dark, but I can see clearly. I continue following them quietly down the stairs. I wait for them to get far from me, but I take in their scents. I know it's weird, but I'm just like that.

They're outside now, on their way to the field.

'Where the hell are they going?'

I see them go through a tunnel or something. I can't really see anything at the moment. My eyes are suddenly blurry or just unclear.

I feel an intense pain in my spinal cord. No not just there, but somewhere else.

Everywhere

'Oh my goodness what is happening? Am I dying?'

My head is throbbing, eyes are blurry, even my senses are sharper, but everywhere hurts. I hear a snap. 'What was that?' Before I know it, I start screaming.

"Aaaaah." I fall to the ground. Before I pass out, I feel a pair of strong hands around me.

"Amira? I hear before shutting my eyes and lose all focus.

***Several Hours later***

"What are we going to say to her?"

"I don't know man. I just hope she's okay. How's Charlie?"

"He'll be fine man, don't worry about it."

"How can I not Cole."

"I know. But let's just focus on one thing at a time."

"You're right."

I clear my throat as I try opening my eyes to see my environment.

"Hey."

"Jonathan?"

"Yeah it's me. Cole's here too." I turn to my left to see Cole waving at me.

"Am I in a hospital or something? It reeks of medicine." I say

Cole chuckles "It's the medical room in school." He says

"What am I doing here?" I say, trying to adjust myself on the bed. I use my right hand to message my neck and back.

They haven't replied me yet. They're looking at each other, like they are debating whether to tell me or not.

"Would you just get it out already?" I tell them.

"Well uh... you just passed out." Jonathan says, but I can tell he is lying.

"I passed out." I say looking back and forth at the two of them. "Why? I never get sick." I say looking confused.

"Uh... I'm gonna go. You know... leave you two to it." Cole says leaving awkwardly.

"What's going on?" I ask myself silently.

Jonathan clears his throat beside me.

"Why are you even here?"

"Just checking up on you. I'm student body president. It's my duty."

I laugh plainly "You're not the student body president." I say squeezing my eyebrows together.

He chuckles, scratching the back of his head. "The principal told me to check up on you."

"Why?!"

"Amira there's something you need to know." he says looking into my eyes. Damn!

"What is it? Did someone die?" I say plainly

"No. But if someone did, would that be how you would react?"

I roll my eyes not answering. I know he is stalling and I don't have time for games.

"Right So I advised Mr. Brown to let you mum tell you and not me, so she should be here any minute. I'm just going to wait for them to get here."

"Are you kidding right now?" I ask him, actually hoping that he is joking.

He shakes his head.

I check for a clock. I see the time and it's time for my history test.

I try to get off the bed clearly not in the mood for all this fiasco I don't even know about.

Jonathan pulls me back by dragging my hand, making me fall unto the bed.

"Yo! What the hell?" I yell

"Shit I'm sorry. Are you okay?"

"No!" I snatch my arm out of his hand. I sigh

"I'm sorry. It's just that you need to wait for them to get here."

I run my hand through my hair, clearly frustrated. "What is so important that my test has to wait?" I say making myself comfortable on the bed.

He doesn't say anything.

We wait silently and awkwardly for a while.

I stare at the ceiling trying as much as possible not to look at him.

After ten to fifteen minutes I hear some noise outside

"They must be here."

"They're here." we say at the same time.

I look at him with a side view. I hear him sigh out loudly.

When the door opens, Mr. Brown walks in then my mum. Jonathan stands up from the chair.

"Oh Amira are you okay? I heard what happened." she comes to me to give me a hug, but I'm not having it. I just want to leave. She awkwardly walks away from me.

"Great!" I clap my hands loudly. "Now that you're here and can see that I am completely fine, can I go? I've got a test."

"Amira we have something to tell you. And we need you to stay put." Mr. Brown says

I sigh loudly throwing my head back to rest it on the pillow. "I'm listening. But let me tell you. Whatever you think I did. I didn't do it. At least not yet."

"You did not do anything. We have news for you that we know you will not take well. We understand that what we are about to tell you is going to sound strange and crazy , but we want you to know that it is the truth." my mum says.

I sit up, letting them know I am listening.

She comes close to the bed and takes a seat on the chair.

"There is something you should know about our family history. Well mostly your family."

"My family?" I raise a brow confused.

"Yes. Thomas and I didn't want to tell you because we were trying to protect you, especially since you were slower than the other kids in transforming. However it seems your time has come and we can no longer hide it from. We don't want you to change and feel alone in it."

"Okay what the hell are you talking about? You're not making any sense."

"Your dad was not exactly who he said he was."

"What?"

"I mean that he was different from most people. His family is different from most families. That was why you never really got to know anyone from his family."

"Mum." I look her in the eye. "Get to the point."

"Have you ever heard of werewolves?"

I don't answer, because the question is kind of stupid.

They are all staring at me intently. "Oh my goodness yes I've heard of werewolves. But what does that have to do with our conversation."

She sighs deeply before answering. "What I am about to tell you- promise me you won't walk out."

"I'm making no such promises, so please get to the point."

"Your father is a... he is a-" she pauses for a bit "_he is a werewolf." she lets out a huge breath, like she's been holding it in for a while.

I don't say anything for a minute. I don't even look at anyone else but her. I stare intently at her to make sure she is okay, because she obviously does not sound okay... at all.

Then before I know it, I burst into a fit of laughter. I lower my head forward towards my leg laughing my ass off.

"Sorry I couldn't help it. I'm trying to control myself. I'm trying to-" I continue giggling. Taking some deep breaths, I rest my hand right above my mouth utterly shocked at what I just heard.

"Amira. I know this sounds like a joke, but-"

"Of course it sounds like a joke mum. Because it is a joke." Suddenly I get serious. "I honestly cannot believe I wasted my time." I get down from the bed ready to leave.

"Where are you going?" Jonathan asks me

I sigh. "To my class." I walk to the door.

I hear my mum's voice before I get a chance to open the door "Amira-."

"I mean what was I really expecting?" I run my hand through my hair roughly. Finally, turning to the door, I take my leave unable to listen to all the nonsense being spat out.
