Purgatory

"Abandon the people who shaped who you are. Selfish and thoughtless, you drown in the dark. I hope that you realize the damage you've done, you could not see light even staring at the sun." 


The door opens and Leo graces us with a hesitant smile. 


"Nicholas! I'm so glad you agreed to come over," he looks over my shoulder, as if expecting anyone else, "where're Piper and Chris?" 


Mom still doesn't know about Leo coming back, and I intend to keep it that way. I never want to see her in so much pain again. 


He nods slowly, as if in disappointment and leads us inside. 


The house screams luxury. The walls were adorned with abstract paintings, the clothes strewn about the place were clearly made of fine material, and not a single thing seems worn-out. It's not the house of a filthy rich man, but it's luxurious enough compared to my own. 


He's been living comfortably without us. I can't help but resent him for that.
