29. Stuck !!

Few days later, while Lara was getting ready to leave work, Liam came out and asked," Um.. Lara can you accompany me to the new library that the company sponsored for?".

" Sure boss", she replied.

Man when can I go home. Ugh… I am so hungry…. I should have eaten something after lunch.. I'll treat myself to a fancy dinner tonight.. Mmmmmm….

Lara smiled while thinking about the food which she was going to eat. When she looked into her watch she realized that it was already 7pm.

Liam drove the car to the new library. The journey was rather quite.

They soon reached the deserted library. Everybody had already left.

It was a spacious library. There were many chairs and tables for sitting. There were books of various genres and types.

They decided to walk around a bit.

Suddenly the power went out and turned the whole library into darkness. Then they heard a click and realized that someone locked them in.

Liam was facing a shelf when the power went out. He turned to face Lara and he screamed. " Aaaahhhh…..". He staggered back to hit the shelf.

Lara was trying to turn on the flashlight of her phone. Coincidentally it turned on the minute Liam turned making him scream in horror. She freaked out and shone the light on him and asked," Are you okay boss??".

" Lara are you planning on killing me ??... Huh. God….", Liam said while trying hard to catch his breath.

" No boss.. I am sorry. I was just trying to turn on my flashlight….. and coincidentally you..", she replied while sighing.

" It's okay", he said, finally managing to catch his breath.

" Damn it.. No cell reception", Lara cursed while trying to search for signal." God.. I left my phone in the office", Liam said while searching his pocket.

Please don't tell me that we are stuck here for the rest of the night.

Lara thought.

" Boss please sit down, I'll check if there is any other possible exit anywhere around", she said." I'll come with you", he at once said. " Okay".

They started walking around. Lara was walking in a faster pace.

" Boss have you seen an exit??", she inquired. When she didn't receive a reply she turned around.

She saw him standing there sweating with a look of fear in his eyes. His eyes were darting here and there.

Liam always had fear for dark places, especially after he had been kidnapped with a girl who was their main target. She was suspended in the air through a hook that was pierced into her shoulder. He was tied onto a pole and could do nothing but try and assure her that he would protect her.

Seeing his reaction Lara realised that he was having a panic attack and immediately she went and held his hand and said," Boss I am here with you…. No one will hurt you... I will not leave you alone…. Relax.... Take a few deep breaths…. I am right here…. ".

Liam felt warmth surge through his body when he heard her. He pulled her into a tight embrace. She let him hug her and slowly patted his back trying to soothe him. She could fell his breathing normalize.

" Let us do one thing, there doesn't seem to be an exit here, and I have no intention of giving you a panic attack so I think you can join me in reading some books", she said.

She then started walking holding his hands with a firm grip. The assurance that she offered warmed his heart and a smile formed on his face.

She asked him to pick a book for himself while she picked one for herself. When she saw that he was near the mystery section, she immediately went and pulled him by his hand and said," Boss you already seem to be having trauma from darkness so please take a book that is simple."

Seriously.. Does he plan on killing himself by reading mystery stuff when he cannot even stand in the dark??....

She thought and dragged him to the romance section.

" I didn't think you would have time to read such books Lara," he said with a smirk.

" Well boss I had more than enough time even after my college to read such books for fun or to sleep.", she replied nonchalantly while looking through the racks of books.

She soon selected a book and he had also picked a random book. She then guided him to one of the tables close to a window and sat beside him.

" Do not worry, the moonlight is with us. If you feel uncomfortable please do not hesitate to inform me", she said while placing her phone between them so that both of them could read.
