47. Drunk Maria
But before any of them could take a sip, Lara's phone started ringing. She saw that it was her best friend Maria but was surprised seeing that the number's code showed Country A instead of Country B. She was met with loud music the minute she placed the phone in her ear.
" God Maria… What are you doing in a club??.. Where are you now.??...", she asked worriedly. Maria almost never went to a club. She only went when she was extremely upset and this made Lara's heart race faster out of tension.
" Lara baby….* hiccup * That bastard cheated….. * hiccup *. On meee…. Wahhh….. I am soooooo lonely….. I miss you so sooo much baby…. I love you…. Umahh….", she started her drunk blabbering. She was so loud that both Liam and Miles could hear her clearly.
" Just send me your location… I'll pick you up…", Lara said with her hand on her forehead. This girl… She definitely had a knack to causing trouble.." I'll send now only… Love you… Umah…", she replied and cut the phone.
The next minute her phone beeped. Maria had sent her location. It was in a club 20 minutes away from office. She picked her bag and said apologetically," I am sorry boss.. My friend is drunk, I need to pick her up…"
Both Liam and Miles stood at once and said," We will come with you..". Lara was about to reject when Liam spoke again." We are coming with you and that is final…". Lara just sighed and followed the two of them.
Liam and the others quickly got into his car and left for the club. The entire car Lara was fidgeting her fingers out of nervousness. Maria sounded so drunk that she was worried that someone might take advantage of her.
They reached in front of the club in 20 minutes. Lara was the first one to jump out of the car the minute it stopped. The other two guys also followed.
Lara was redialling Maria's number again and again, but it kept saying that her phone was switched of.. Lara was feeling slightly weak out of worry… Nothing will happen to her Lara, she is strong. She kept chanting this in her mind.
Now she had another worry. She was scared if Maria would take an extreme step out of the effect of alcohol. The thought made her stop in her tracks.
Miles and Liam stopped seeing her stop. They saw fear in her eyes, the fear of losing someone dear.
Liam walked over and gave her shoulder an assuring squeeze." She'll be alright… Don't panic….", he said softly.
She took a deep breath to calm herself and tried to get rid of all the negative thoughts running through her mind. She started looking around the club first to see if she stumbled out.
Lara saw a girl standing leaning against a light post and rushed towards her. When she got closer, she confirmed that it was Maria and sighed in relief.
The three of them reached Maria's side. Lara gently patted her cheeks and lifted her chin a bit." Maria??. Maria…", she said softly. Maria opened her eyes and said," Honey… I * hiccup * missed you … so much… I love you…", she said and fell into Lara's embrace.
" Oh crap!! She is completely wasted…", Lara said and sighed.
Liam and Miles were looking at Lara and Maria respectively. Maria's face was red from being drunk and she looked very cute. Miles didn't know why but since the day he met her, he was feeling very attracted to her.
He hadn't approached her earlier because she already had a boyfriend. But now….
Liam was looking at Lara with a gaze filled with love. His girl was so caring and gentle…. He was just falling for her… More and more…
Seeing her attempt to slowly carry Maria, he stepped forward and helped her by picking Maria and walk towards the car. Lara followed him close behind.
Miles was just staring at her in a daze that he didn't realize that Lara had started dragging her to the car along with Liam.
Lara had noticed him stare at her in a daze through her peripheral vision. But she didn't pay much attention to him because her current concern was to get Maria home safely.
Seeing that Miles was standing like a rock without moving Liam honked. Miles almost jumped out of his skin. He quickly shook his head in an attempt to clear his mind and quickly walked into the car.
