49. Arachnophobia

When they were busy showering, Lara quickly gave Maria a shower and got her changed into one of her comfortable clothes. She plugged her phone into a charger. She laid her on the bed and covered her with the duvet before walking out.

She quickly took both of their clothes and even Maria's clothes and put it in the washing machine for a wash.

By the time she stepped out, the two guys were out of the shower. Both of them were looking especially hot with their wet hair and wearing a bathrobe only increased it. Lara didn't know why, but she felt slightly attracted to Liam.

She just smiled and walked in to her room to get a hair dryer for both of them.

" I'll show you guys your rooms…. If you blow dry your hair here, it might wake her up….. So….", she said and walked towards the stairs. The two guys reluctantly followed her.

There were three doors in the first floor. Two on the right and one on the left. She walked over and opened the first door and stepped in. The guys followed her in.

" So one of you can-", she started. But then her eyes landed on something on the wall and she froze midway . Her eyes started widening. She felt her throat dry. Fear slowly consuming her. Her heart started racing. Before long, her calm expression slowly changed to horror.

Liam and Miles looked at her when she stopped speaking. They noticed the way her expression was changing. Liam saw the same horror on her face which he had seen while they were driving to the resort.

Out of fear, Lara turned and hugged the first thing her hands landed on. And it was Liam. He froze. Both of the guys eyes went to where her eyes were before and saw a spider web. Since it was not very high, Miles easily reached it and pulled it out and threw it in the dustbin.

Liam hugged her back. He felt her shiver in his embrace. He rubbed her back soothingly and muttered soft consoling words.

" Hey… Relax.. Nothing will happen to you… Hmmm….. I am right here… It is gone now.. hmmm.. Don't worry…", he softly said.

It took her a few minutes before she stopped shivering.

She pulled out of his embrace." I am so- sorry… Please ex- excuse me…", she stuttered before running out of the room. Confused as to what was happening, the two of them followed her out.

Lara quickly ran through the stairs before going into the kitchen and gobbling a glass of water. She was clutching her left shoulder due to pain. She started taking deep breaths to calm herself.

She saw the same place again when her eyes landed on the spider web. The only place that made her shudder out of fear.

She hated it…. She hated the fact that even after so many years, it still had such a bad effect on her. Every time she was reminded of the incident, her left shoulder ached. It still ached when she thought of it.

It took her a few minutes to get her breathing back to normal. She felt as if someone was staring at her. When she turned, she was met with the confused gaze from Liam and Miles.

The two guys were watching her actions intently. It was obvious that she was having a panic attack.

Lara sighed and said," Arachnophobia…". Both of their eyes widened. " A scar from my past that hasn't healed yet. Usually the housekeeper made sure there were none.. I think her eyes didn't reach it this time… I am sorry", she said softly.

Liam felt her pain. But arachnophobia reminded him of the warehouse that was covered in cobwebs. The thought of it sent shivers down his spine.

" It is okay Lara", Liam replied with a light smile. Lara just smiled back and said," Anyways… Forget about it… Choose whichever room you want and dry your hair and come down… I'll make us some light snack…". Both of them quickly went up.

After they left, she sighed and shook her head to clear her thoughts. Get yourself together Lara.

She then removed her coat and threw it on a couch. Today she was wearing a black pantsuit and beige shirt. She untucked her shirt and opened it's first two buttons. She pulled her loose hair into a messy bun and rolled her sleeves before getting to work.

She decided to make an apple caramel snack. She quickly started cutting apples and put it into a bowl. By this time the two guys came and sat on the chairs behind the kitchen counter. They were just watching Lara cook.
