To the Victor

There were fewer of us as we made camp that day, atop the remains of the enemy camp. I mean, we were a disciplinary unit, so we expected to suffer multiple decimations. But losing one in four is a bit more than two decimations, and causes an actual hit to morale.

"Listen up." Pellona said. "Eat well, bandage your wounds, and rest well. Tomorrow we march."

Large groups travel slower than small ones. "Rakkal's Glory is a week away." I said.

Pellona chuckled. "Yes, we'll be marching that long. We're to break the siege on our capital, ending the threat of the invading army forever."

Hugonaut smiled, tossing someone's finger into the fire. "More battle is just more experience, now that I've got my third point in Valor." he bragged.

"They'll have a force almost as large as the one we fought today." I said. "Certainly, there will be no lack of experience for the survivors."
