Writing this review after finishing the first volume (100 chapters). Positives: - Dark and gritty, with a mature writing style - Unpredictable - things don't always go the MC's way, or the way you're expecting - Refreshing - in a very oversaturated "system" genre, the author manages something very different - There is a decent balance of significant plot events and slice of life sections - The world grows with the MC, there aren't any overwhelming knowledge dumps - I personally enjoy the insight in the authors comments, demonstrating their thoughts, opinions and growth as an author Negatives: - Can be confusing at times - As a weak MC, he spends a distressing amount of time injured - MC seems to lack any motivation outside of staying alive so far, spending most of his time following the whims of those stronger than him - hoping this will change at some point

Looks fun to read. It's nice to see an actual fantasy setting instead of another isekai novel. Keep up the good work, hopefully your novel will get really popular!

I dropped this after 320 chapters. The story is interesting, the lore is attractive and with a slow space and a part of the time you don't have enough information and the MC. My biggest problem is that this story has disorganized chapters out of place.  These are the memoirs of the MC or something similar to it, each volumen represents some part of the story of the MC. But they are not necessarily in chronological order. That's all nice and all, but when you get to a pick in the story and suddenly start a new volumen and is of another point of the life the MC is sharing, the worst part is that there is not even a little bit of preambule to this change, the new volume starts with a character you don't know or care taking half a chapter. There are chapters of other volumes in between. You end up unblocking a chapter to find it was from the previous volume. And this last thing is really problematic, as the author doesn't seem to care or try to correct this mistake.

This is one of the best character development stories I've read on this platform. Most of the adventure stories have OP characters. This character constantly has to fight his own flaws, a story about growth in the face of failure and prejudice.

The author's writing stability *was* quite excellent not all that long ago, and by making some presumptions and assumptions based on little more than the odd author's note and Gurgj's intuition(in exchange for some crunchings and munchings, of course) I have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the author's recent delinquency can be placed solely on the shoulders of Caillou. Because that cancer-patient wannabe is blamed for nothing and causes all that is wrong in this world. But otherwise yeah, Born A Monster is creative, interesting, and tickles something fierce both my schadenfreude bone and my sympathy/pity bone(s). (*whispers* They're all the same bone. It's a nice bone. It's a better book.)

This is the best book on the app, hands-down. The style can come off a bit dry, which is kinda genius considering it's a fictional autobiography of a character with very dry wit. The writing for side characters is distinct and consistent, the plot is well thought out, the world is fascinating. I've been shocked, enraged, embittered. i love this lil guy. This id the only story on the app I actually like to pay for.

First of all this is a great novel and I will continue to read it. That being said my following criticism should be seen as constructive and not judgemental or destructive. 1. Forgetable/Mobs characters receive to much words and in certain cases their traits and mannerisms becomes indistinguishable from the main character. The way the writer writes dialogue further exacerbates this, making it hard for readers to distinguish between characters - especially during dialogue. 2. The MC becomes aware of knowledge that he should not be aware of. This can be easily fixed by simply indicating that he is not aware of this and that this is the knowledge of the future MC bleeding into he’s own recounts of his past, because technically the MC is writing his own story about his past self. The author is fixing this in later chapters. Those two points are my bigest criticisms.

Fully fleshed out world, complex hero, top notch writing, characters that have their own motivations and don't exist just to further the plot. The plot itself seems way more GOTh than the-chosen-one. This book deserves a lot more attention.

People who enjoy western fantasy will appreciate this type or novel. The world building is fantastic with a lot of lore and attention to detail. The characters all have their own personality and help the MC grow on his journey. While the book has many positives, what i couldnt enjoy or relate to was the MC’s behavior. He is quite apathetic about life and has no desire for anything. He is enslaved and tortured numerous times yet bears no anger or thoughts about getting stronger. He does the bare minimum to survive and would have died countless times if it werent for his absurd bloodline. He also loses his friends/family (that we grow to like) and barely has any emotional reaction to it. I get that the author wanted him to be a flawed character who grows up through his trials and tribulations, but theres a point when it becomes too much. Especially when the character refuses to learn from his mistakes. I tried to excuse it saying he’s still a child, but after 200 chapters, I’m starting to really dislike the MC.
